Marchioness of Magenta | 129 comments Mods, need Color Approval please.

1. Wild Sweet Wilderness by Dorothy Garlock work for green color? The letters do stand out from the background..

2. Without a Summer (Glamourist Histories, #3) by Mary Robinette Kowal - Cerulean Blue?

ilovebakedgoods (Teresa) (ilovebakedgoods) | 226 comments Do the cover colors actually have to match the team name? Like... Cerulean Blue has to be a specific shade of blue, it can't just be blue?

Marchioness of Magenta | 129 comments Um, sometimes LK/Mods post the team color door and compare with it. I'm not sure if it applies to Cerulean Blue but I have seen it for Magenta Mix-Up. And I realized I'm rubbish at identifying colors.

ilovebakedgoods (Teresa) (ilovebakedgoods) | 226 comments Well, yeah, I know for harder colors (bronze, magenta, etc) it can be tough to know what shades to go for but I'm mostly curious about the common ones, like green or blue. Does it have to be "cadet" blue, or "pewter" or "cerulean" or "lime green"? Or can it just be "blue" or "green"? It's something I just took for granted as being "blue/green" (whatever) and never thought too indepth about until I saw the 'cerulean' blue question. I think we have bronze and wild blue yonder as our before/after teams. Well, I sure don't know what "wild blue" is, so I just chose basic blue covers.

Marchioness of Magenta | 129 comments Oh, I hadn't thought of it like that. I'll wait for the mods too.

I'm curious about this too as we've got electric lime, and I'm not sure whether any green will do or whether it needs to be specifically lime!

I was looking at it in terms of light blue/dark blue but not more so I'm interested to know too :)

Yes, with regards to blue, we are only comparing light blue/dark blue and with B'Dazzled, a "bright" blue.

Moonstone has a lot of blues, greens, lavender, greyish-white, such as:

...so, we'll take any of those colors.

With lime, we want a green that looks close in color to the door, not a pastel or a deep forest green. However, we will allow it in the title only, as described below:

A color doesn't necessarily have to be predominant, but it should "pop" on the cover.

So far, the hardest color to make a determination on is mauve.

When in doubt, post it as a question and we will make a decision.
-------------------Repeated Info Follows---------------------
Due to the difficulty of finding mauve, lime, tangerine (orange), and bronze, we will allow those colors to appear in titles. Or where the color "pops."

Acceptable Examples: (color respective to above order)
Beautiful Creatures (Caster Chronicles, #1) by Kami Garcia Beautiful Redemption (Caster Chronicles, #4) by Kami Garcia One Flew over the Cuckoo's Nest by Ken Kesey The Diviners by Libba Bray

IN ADDITION:

Since Atomic Tangerine is such a difficulty color to find, even in the title of a book, we will allow Orange Prize books to be counted for this color.

Orange Prize for Fiction Winners
The Orange Prize for Fiction is one of the United Kingdom's most prestigious literary prizes, awarded annually for the best original full-length novel by a female author of any nationality, written in English and published in the UK in the preceding year.

Two listopias are:
Orange Prize for Fiction Winners
Orange Prize for Fiction Longlist

Jenny you don't need to post covers here unless you have question about them.
If you are posting what you are planning to read, you should do it in our (Hobbit) team thread.

Mary X (marymaryalwayscontrary) | 5588 comments Sorry if anyone else asked this but, if a player finishes a book the same day that someone else, on another team, finished the same book, can it still be counted for Behind Enemy lines?

message 284: by Vicky (last edited Jun 10, 2013 09:55PM) (new)

Vicky (librovert) | 3137 comments Checking on some colors. Would any of these work for...

Bronze:
Ender's Game (Movie Tie-In) by Orson Scott Card (The motion picture bar looks really close to the Bronze swatch on wikipedia!)
Changing The Game (Play By Play, #2) by Jaci Burton
Private Oz (Other Private Offices) by James Patterson

B'Dazzled Blue:
The Golden Compass (His Dark Materials, #1) by Philip Pullman

ilovebakedgoods (Teresa) (ilovebakedgoods) | 226 comments I *love* that cover for Changing The Game (Play By Play, #2) by Jaci Burton . I think someone on my team posted book 1 a few weeks ago and much drooling ensued. I wonder if my library has those books. Probably not.

Approved for Blast-Off Bronze. Changing the Game has an antique brushed bronze background that Teresa probably was too distracted to notice.

Vicky wrote: "The Golden Compass (His Dark Materials, #1) by Philip Pullman"

Approved for B'Dazzled Blue.

Aneeqah | 322 comments Just have a quick question to the mods (forgive me if it's a dumb one): I know some groups have finished this challenge, but would we still receive extra books if we finish it now? I'm not sure if the competition was to finish first, or just finish the time period given.

Thank you lovely mods! <3

Moderators of NBRC | 33496 comments Mod
Yes, Aneeqah, the challenge is still going.

We will award each Team reaching the goal four (4) additional books/points. Any Team that completes at least three (3) of the categories, for a total of 21 books, will receive a one (1) book advantage.

Turtlecollector Dennis | 1164 comments

Will these books qualify for magenta mix up as color behind?

Can't Hurry Love (Crooked Creek Ranch, #2) by Molly O'Keefe blue The False Prince (The Ascendance Trilogy, #1) by Jennifer A. Nielsen blue A Kiss at Midnight (Fairy Tales, #1) by Eloisa James blue The Many Sins of Lord Cameron (Highland Pleasures, #3) by Jennifer Ashley blue
A Study in Scarlet by Arthur Conan Doyle red, blue Lover Mine (Black Dagger Brotherhood, #8) by J.R. Ward red The April Fools' Day Murder (A Christine Bennett Mystery #13) by Lee Harris red

The Surgeon's Rescue Mission by Dianne Drake orange, red, blue (I think this looks almost like an upside down magenta mix up door)

Spirit Bound (Vampire Academy, #5) by Richelle Mead magenta

Turtlecollector Dennis | 1164 comments Could P.D. James count as a 7 letter author or do the 7 letters need to be all in one part of the name for Category 7?

Let me get a second opinion. Looks aquamarine to me.
