message 4: by Jenny (new)

Jenny (jennyc89) The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. Really anything by Douglas Adams except for Mostly Harmless, that last one was just depressing.

Antonio (antonioarez) Going Solo by Roald Dahl, maybe it's not the funniest book ever, but we can't deny it's full of reason to love the world we live in. That's a reason to keep you happy.

Oh ! There are so many !
I will try to stick to the ones I happen to read recently.. and I end up having three. I cried while reading them but that was because they were so good, eventually making me happy.

- The Bridges of Madison County by Robert James Waller
- The Fault in Our Stars by John Green
- Hotel on the Corner of Bitter and Sweet by Jamie Ford

message 24: by Pink (new)

Pink | 5491 comments This is a hard question for me, as I mostly read sad/ depressing books.

One book that made me laugh and smile was Decca: The Letters of Jessica Mitford it's a long collection of letters, but they are witty and humorous throughout.

message 26: by Tytti (new)

Tytti | 1010 comments I can't think of any book that would make me happy, I don't read them for that. The only thing that comes to mind is reading some non-fiction book and learning new things. But you can only do that once. Or maybe looking through Kotiruoka ("Home food") and thinking what I should cook next, which is what I am doing now. That's a classic, too. It first came out in 1908 and mine is the 89th edition. The recipes have of course changed some.

message 28: by Tytti (new)

Tytti | 1010 comments No, it's not really my kind of a book. I didn't read that many children's books as a child, either.

It's amazing as an adult, too, I have to say. I read it & listened to it, in February. Then just listened again last month.

It's one of the more well known children's books in Europe, I believe.

There is a movie, too. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3U2YP...
