Carlita Costello | 1219 comments I agree JCP is a no brainer. Love the PsyCop series.

message 1102: by Susinok (new)

Susinok | 5205 comments I used to love urban fantasy and paranormal romance when I was reading mainstream books. I about burned out on the genre before I began reading heavily in m/m. I read some really good m/m fantasy, like the Magpie series or the Whybourne series, but I don't seek it out as much.

LOL! :-) Good to know! There WILL be a quiz here in Finland in July and everyone who passes it will get chocolate and cake. ;-)

Fun post, they mix well those two

I wonder if we can poke them into co-writing something

I don't know if even that could cheer me up.

After seeing/hearing the numbers, I thought that maybe I'm too old to learn even just some words of a new language...

Don't worry, dear. While I was reading Michael Nava's The Death of Friends today there were these lines that made me smile (somewhere around 75% through):

"That's not true," I said, quickly. "You had me followed up there."
She looked at me as if I was speaking Finnish. "What are you talking about?"

So, apparently you aren't the only one thinking that Finnish is a challenging language to learn and to understand. ;-)

I just bought Holly Lisle's How to Create a Language Clinic. So, I will be creating a language for my sci-fi novella All For Pazu. A friend of mine recommended this last night as a way to help world building.

Eek. I'm terrible at other languages, learning them, that is. However, creating one, this looks really easy? I hope so. I want this novella to do really well, and to be the best that it can be.

I'll let you guys know how it goes. I think it'll be a little hard/more interesting only because I've already written the novella, and I've already got names for my main characters, so I've got to work those names into the language, or make the language work around those names. :-P

Looks like it was a fantastic effort on the part of some great readers and bloggers.

It killed me to have to miss out.

Josh's an awful tease, right? This snippet instantly opens up so many possibilities. How is it going on for the two of them?

A lot of the charm (writing it) was the setting. But I think I have a good replacement setting for it. ;-)

Thank you, Sammie. With the exception of switching a couple of projects around, I think this turned out to be a pretty good schedule for me -- and hopefully for readers.

And it is an undeniable pleasure to be working on stories that I planned for so long. These are all novels I really have been looking forward to.

Well, more of a collaboration really, isn't it? In Stranger Things there's artwork to accompany the story, which is wonderful! but that's not co-writing, at least not my understanding of co-writing. An awesome project nonetheless, and great interview.

I didn't mean his collaboration with Catherine. In the interview, Josh said:

"A friend and I tried to write something together last year. We got a few chapters in and realized it just wasn’t going to happen, so I have my chapters and prologue. I love the concept and I loved my prologue, but I don’t really know what to do with it."

message 1150: by KC (last edited Jul 22, 2014 11:30AM) (new)

KC | 4897 comments Ah, yes, of course, Hj, sorry about that... And yes, that was interesting :-) (i guess the source of my confusion was that in the interview, under author, both names appear)
