Ian, I love the length of these books. I want more -- I would hate if she cut anything out!"

I was going to say the same thing, lmao. But then I think I've said it before so I didn't want to repeat myself. I wouldn't want one page cut out, lmao.

The Duke's holiday was the best HR I've read in forever!!

It's great fun, isn't it.

message 6410: by Ian (new)

Ian (setaian) | 640 comments I finished Into the Shadows last night. I love Carolyn Crane. Not sure if she's for everyone but there is a quirkiness to the way she writes that appeals to me...even when she's writing romantic suspense. With CC you kind of expect to turn the page and come face to face with a death ray machine or a earth quake ray.

She also writes erotic fiction and that comes across a little more in this one.

Into the Shadows (The Associates, #3) by Carolyn Crane

lol...I'm sure it's good, but damn I wish authors of RS would come up with a new idea for a hero. Every single damned one of them is a former Navy SEAL. RS might as well stand for Rehashed SEAL.

I kind of think this obsession amongst authors with SO is a bit insulting to men and women who serve their country as regular soldiers sailors, airmen / women and marines...I mean those guys do quite a specialised job and in the overall scheme of things it serves a purpose but honestly most of the heavy lifting is done by the every day soldiers and marines.

message 6413: by Dee (new)

Dee (austhokie) | 817 comments I'd live a book about a plain jane sailor

message 6423: by Angie Elle, BaBAMB!!! (new)

Angie Elle (angieelle) | 696 comments I know we have some eclectic readers in this group, and I'm hoping some of you can help me. I'd like to get my brother a book for his birthday, but he reads outside of my genre. (I don't usually stray from romance.) He loves the Wheel of Time series, and I bought him the Mistborn series a few years ago, and he loved that as well.

Have any of you read Robert Jordan or Brandon Sanderson? And if you have, could you recommend something similar?

message 6424: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) | 1447 comments I assume he has read Game of Thrones?

message 6425: by Angie Elle, BaBAMB!!! (new)

Angie Elle (angieelle) | 696 comments I don't think he has, actually.

message 6426: by Dee (new)

Dee (austhokie) | 817 comments what about Joe Abercrombie - I liked the first book in his fantasy series that I tried

message 6427: by Gwennie, Mrs. Bookworm (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) | 1116 comments Or, the Sword of Truth series is pretty good, by Terry Goodkind.

message 6429: by Angie Elle, BaBAMB!!! (new)

Angie Elle (angieelle) | 696 comments I'm going to continue my historical kick with The Traitor (Captive Hearts, #2) by Grace Burrowes .

message 6430: by Tellulah (new)

Tellulah Darling (tellulahdarling) Really enjoyed Shadow of the Wolf (Heart's Desire, #1) by Dana Marie Bell and Hecate's Own (Heart's Desire, #2) by Dana Marie Bell Thanks Marcella for turning me on to them! Didn't love the third one as much but am curious about the last brother. Damn authors writing brothers. That's how they suck you in.

message 6431: by Tellulah (new)

Tellulah Darling (tellulahdarling) Trust Me on This by Jennifer Crusie I think Jennifer Crusie has written some of the best romcom out there. This was one of her early titles and while I could see elements that were developed much better in later works, it was still pretty good.

message 6432: by Angie Elle, BaBAMB!!! (new)

Angie Elle (angieelle) | 696 comments I'm starting Personal Target An Elite Ops Novel by Kay Thomas and The Last Wicked Scoundrel (Scoundrels of St. James, #5) by Lorraine Heath .

Tellulah Darling (tellulahdarling) Lady in Red (Talisman Ring, #5) by Karen Hawkins meh

message 6434: by Courtney (new)

Courtney | 159 comments Finished The Bronze Horseman (The Bronze Horseman, #1) by Paullina Simons . Really liked it and got through it pretty fast to my surprise.

Started The Iron Butterfly (Iron Butterfly, #1) by Chanda Hahn .

message 6435: by Leea, Escape Artist (last edited Jul 24, 2014 07:25PM) (new)

Leea | 1437 comments Yay Courtney!! Did you write a review? I just have so many questions... ha! It's one of my favorite books. Such and emotional ride.

Still reading Written in My Own Heart's Blood (Outlander, #8) by Diana Gabaldon about 54%. My boys start school tomorrow so we've been getting things ready. Haven't had much time to read. I hope to have more time once the boys are in school :)

message 6436: by Kay (new)

Kay (calikay) | 667 comments I loved The Bronze Horseman! So good!!

message 6437: by Courtney (new)

Courtney | 159 comments Leea - Actually, I didn't but I'm thinking about writing one! It was definitely a book that tugged at your heartstrings. What kind of questions did you have? :)

message 6438: by Leea, Escape Artist (new)

Leea | 1437 comments What did you think of the story? Alexander? How it ended? Are you going to read the second book? Ha!

message 6439: by Courtney (new)

Courtney | 159 comments I might read the second book but I'm sure everyone can agree that it takes a lot out of you! Haha. As for the ending (view spoiler)

I'm really curious to see if the movie is still going to happen. Cause for Tatiana, all I can see is only one person and that's how I pictured Tatiana when I finished the book!

message 6440: by Samantha (new)

Samantha | 419 comments I didn't know they were doing a movie. This book was good. It would be a hard act to follow.

message 6441: by Leea, Escape Artist (new)

Leea | 1437 comments I don't know if the movie will be made. But I also never thought Outlander would end up on the screen. So what do I know. I'm in the Bronze Horseman Group and I don't believe there has been any new news about the movie.

Glad you liked the book and I agree about the ending. When I read it years ago, I couldn't stop. I had to know what happens.

message 6442: by Samantha (last edited Jul 25, 2014 04:12PM) (new)

Samantha | 419 comments Oh ok. You almost made me excited, Leea! I loved my Shura! LOL. I didn't read the third book. I tried to start it a while back but it wasn't the same. I have to get back to it because I have to know how the whole epic romance ends.

message 6443: by Leea, Escape Artist (new)

Leea | 1437 comments I personally really liked the 3rd and final book. It was another roller coaster.

message 6444: by Samantha (new)

Samantha | 419 comments Hmmm. It must of picked up. I guess I have to muddle through the beginning.

message 6445: by Kay (new)

Kay (calikay) | 667 comments I was on a YA kick this weekend and I finished Love-shy by Lili Wilkinson Into the Wild Nerd Yonder by Julie Halpern Fat Cat by Robin Brande . These were all fun and I enjoyed Fat Cat the most.

message 6446: by Ian (new)

Ian (setaian) | 640 comments Just picked up Anais Butt and the Hairy Handed Gent...very Australian but quite entertaining. I'm about to start Mission to Murder by Lynn Cahoon, and I just finished Accidentally Married on Purpose.

Books about rock stars etc are not really my thing, but I actually enjoyed this one a lot.

Accidentally Married on Purpose (Love and Games, #3) by Rachel Harris Anais Butt and the Hairy-Handed Gent by Kate Welshman Mission to Murder by Lynn Cahoon

message 6447: by Dee (new)

Dee (austhokie) | 817 comments taking advantage of the kindle unlimited program, and reading Bella Andre's Sullivan's series - my library doesn't have them all, and I don't enjoy them enough to make them worth buying...up to Can't Help Falling In Love

also reading Do or Die and One Grave at a Time

message 6448: by Tellulah (new)

Tellulah Darling (tellulahdarling) The Suffragette Scandal (Brothers Sinister, #4) by Courtney Milan - fabulous HR!

message 6449: by Courtney (new)

Courtney | 159 comments Finished The Iron Butterfly (Iron Butterfly, #1) by Chanda Hahn which had a lot of editing problems. The flow of the story was pretty choppy as well. At least it was free!

Going to start It Felt Like a Kiss by Sarra Manning .

message 6450: by Leea, Escape Artist (new)

Leea | 1437 comments Still reading Written in My Own Heart's Blood and i'm to 75% and it's not so fast paced, I don't want to put it down.
