I finished Into the Shadows last night. I love Carolyn Crane. Not sure if she's for everyone but there is a quirkiness to the way she writes that appeals to me...even when she's writing romantic suspense. With CC you kind of expect to turn the page and come face to face with a death ray machine or a earth quake ray.

She also writes erotic fiction and that comes across a little more in this one.

lol...I'm sure it's good, but damn I wish authors of RS would come up with a new idea for a hero. Every single damned one of them is a former Navy SEAL. RS might as well stand for Rehashed SEAL.

I kind of think this obsession amongst authors with SO is a bit insulting to men and women who serve their country as regular soldiers sailors, airmen / women and marines...I mean those guys do quite a specialised job and in the overall scheme of things it serves a purpose but honestly most of the heavy lifting is done by the every day soldiers and marines.

yeah, i know what u mean Ian. i typically don't read books in this subcategory, but it was free. then i was able to get the audiobook for a couple bucks. i'm just glad i actually like it =D

I know we have some eclectic readers in this group, and I'm hoping some of you can help me. I'd like to get my brother a book for his birthday, but he reads outside of my genre. (I don't usually stray from romance.) He loves the Wheel of Time series, and I bought him the Mistborn series a few years ago, and he loved that as well.

Have any of you read Robert Jordan or Brandon Sanderson? And if you have, could you recommend something similar?

I think Jennifer Crusie has written some of the best romcom out there. This was one of her early titles and while I could see elements that were developed much better in later works, it was still pretty good.

What did you think of the story? Alexander? How it ended? Are you going to read the second book? Ha!

I might read the second book but I'm sure everyone can agree that it takes a lot out of you! Haha. As for the ending (view spoiler)[ I wasn't really happy with how it had a cliffhanger like that and it felt kind of rushed. There were times when I thought Alexander was pretty close to getting abusive. But the story overall was really epic. I loved the history part of it and how life then was portrayed, like the rations and death of family members. It made it seem so much more realistic. (hide spoiler)]

I'm really curious to see if the movie is still going to happen. Cause for Tatiana, all I can see is only one person and that's how I pictured Tatiana when I finished the book!

I don't know if the movie will be made. But I also never thought Outlander would end up on the screen. So what do I know. I'm in the Bronze Horseman Group and I don't believe there has been any new news about the movie.

Glad you liked the book and I agree about the ending. When I read it years ago, I couldn't stop. I had to know what happens.

I was on a YA kick this weekend and I finished . These were all fun and I enjoyed Fat Cat the most.

Just picked up Anais Butt and the Hairy Handed Gent...very Australian but quite entertaining. I'm about to start Mission to Murder by Lynn Cahoon, and I just finished Accidentally Married on Purpose.

Books about rock stars etc are not really my thing, but I actually enjoyed this one a lot.

taking advantage of the kindle unlimited program, and reading Bella Andre's Sullivan's series - my library doesn't have them all, and I don't enjoy them enough to make them worth buying...up to Can't Help Falling In Love
