Leea | 1437 comments Exactly!! I'm behind in my challenge but I'm so done with that thing at this point. I just want to enjoy reading and not be so scheduled. Plus so much of my life is and reading doesn't have to be.

Enjoying a relaxing Sunday... Hope everyone is too.

80% into the King and hope to finish later today or tomorrow.

I'm not loving it. I'm at 33% and I haven't touched it since Friday. I like Assail and Sola, but it's not enough to keep be excited for it because with so many POV's what I like is only about 25% of the book.

LIKE! I'm about 10 books behind now. I'm so tempted to just drop out of it this year, it's frustrating when I just want to read for me and not for a tally.

I think my real problem is I just don't like long books...you can expand that to long movies and long TV series. I am enjoying this book and I think I'll probably continue but it seems a bit wordier than it needs to be.

message 5905: by Gwennie, Mrs. Bookworm (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) | 1116 comments I know a lot of people like that. For me, I don't care how long a book is unless the wording is too flowery. I think that's why I love the Outlander series so much. First, because when I first read them I was addicted to the super long books, the longer the better back then. And also because she writes without the overly purple flowery prose. I don't think I'd take out or change anything in that one. But, I also recognize that I'm one of those superfans, lmao. I know lots of other people who would disagree with me.

I agree. I just want to read without the challenge.

I'm in bed this Sunday. I'm more than halfway through Cruel Beauty by Rosamund Hodge and it is good.

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) | 862 comments I really liked Cruel Beauty. The writing was beautiful.

Different subject : here's some first pictures from Petals on the Wind, the Flowers in the Attic sequel http://www.pagetopremiere.com/2014/04...

Angie Elle (angieelle) | 696 comments It does look good. Is it worth the $9.99 Kindle price?

message 5910: by Samantha (new)

Samantha | 419 comments I got it from the library. I enjoyed it but I don't know about that price.

Oh I can't wait for this. I thought they did good on the remake. Thanks for posting.

message 5912: by Courtney (new)

Courtney | 159 comments Well, I changed my mind and will read You Don't Have to Say You Love Me by Sarra Manning since it's a contemporary romance and haven't read one in a while.

Domino (aka Meme) (bryghtstarr) | 173 comments i saw a preview of OUTLANDER yesterday for STARZ. i'm so excited!! i need to finish the series. luckily i'm on book 5 and it'll take STARZ a while to get that far.

message 5914: by Leea, Escape Artist (new)

Leea | 1437 comments Finished The King... I gave it 3 stars and i'm still upset Ward wrote so many side stories because it overshadowed Wrath and Beth.

No clue what to read next...

message 5915: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) | 1447 comments Ugh. I am dnfing.

Leea, should we read Four Friends or has that ship sailed?

message 5916: by Leea, Escape Artist (new)

Leea | 1437 comments I don't know... I'm not really wanting to read something sweet right now. ha!

Sorry you couldn't finish. I enjoyed the book, just now that i'm able to think more about it the more i'm getting pissed off.

message 5917: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) | 1447 comments Understood. Not sure I am in the mood for that either.

Well I wasn't enjoying it at all, so the fact that you are pissed makes me not want to keep going. Also, I bought it the past two years and felt robbed and frustrated the past two years. I had vowed to not go on, but I had so much hope this time around. I guess I need to stick to my instincts. I need to remember this when ICE #2 by KMM is released. Don't do it. Go with my initial instinct!

Tellulah Darling (tellulahdarling) Just finished up the new Eloisa James novel Three Weeks With Lady X (Desperate Duchesses, #7) by Eloisa James I'd been finding her a bit hit and miss lately but this more than made up for it.

Will have to add this to the ever growing tbr list! I liked The Ugly Duchess (Fairy Tales, #4) by Eloisa James by her.

Finished The Storied Life of A. J. Fikry by Gabrielle Zevin by Gabrielle Zevin and loved it! A quirky contemporary fiction that speaks to book lovers!

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) | 862 comments I've been trying Gabrielle Zevin for a while. I didn't realize she'd written an adult book, since everything else she's written was YA.

Still slowly working my way through The King, but I am still not budgeting much time for reading at the moment, so it's taking forever.

That said, I'm going to start Dreams of Gods and Monsters (Daughter of Smoke and Bone, #3) by Laini Taylor j because it's mothereffing Laini Taylor and I'm excited to see how this trilogy ends.

I purchased the ebook Dreams of Gods and Monsters (Daughter of Smoke and Bone, #3) by Laini Taylor and will also buy the hardback, so I can get it autographed this June, because it's 'mothereffing' Laini Taylor! And I'm reading it in T minus 40 seconds.

message 5923: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) | 1447 comments Hahaha! You ladies are funny but so right.

Mine downloaded last night. I am starting as soon as I finish what I am reading.

I finished Sunrise (Ashfall, #3) by Mike Mullin my hometown is mentioned, which I enjoyed!

I am reading The Interrogation of Ashala Wolf (The Tribe #1) by Ambelin Kwaymullina which is good so far.

Still listening to and enjoying Blood of the Demon (Kara Gillian, #2) by Diana Rowland

I really liked Gabrielle Zevin's writing style; lots of biting, quirky humor with a heart.

message 5926: by Gwennie, Mrs. Bookworm (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) | 1116 comments I DNFed The King too. I'm just really disappointed in her more current books and I'm done with the series. It's sad though, because i looooooved it originally.

I'm reading The Warrior Heir (The Heir Chronicles, #1) by Cinda Williams Chima . I needed something different.

I wish I had been able to get into Blood and Starlight, I feel like I'm missing something great. My reading habits have been off lately. It's not that I'm in a slump, it's more that I'm struggling for books to catch me. I'm disinterested.

Me too Wendy.

I am only 7% in but enjoying The Interrogation of Ashala Wolf

message 5929: by Dee (new)

Dee (austhokie) | 817 comments i had it come in at the library, but bought it as well...debating returning the bought and just reading the library book

message 5930: by Gwennie, Mrs. Bookworm (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) | 1116 comments I refused to buy it this year after Lover at Last. I figured it was a good place to cease purchasing them in print.

I'm glad I didn't.

It's like, I rushed out and bought Iced in hardback the day it came out. Worst decision ever.

message 5934: by Angie Elle, BaBAMB!!! (new)

Angie Elle (angieelle) | 696 comments I was just checking to see when the next book in Maya Banks historical series 'Montgomerys and Armstrongs' will be out, and according to her website, it's spring 2015 at the earliest, possibly summer 2015. This is a huge disappointment for me. I love this series.

I borrowed The King (Black Dagger Brotherhood, #12) by J.R. Ward from the library. Sadly, I'm skim reading the Beth & Wrath parts. They don't recognize themselves as the couple we first met and neither do I. I'll mark this on my shelf as skim-read without a rating. :(

If Mary and Rhage have a full-length it will meet the same fate as The King. As far as I'm concerned, this series is dead to me. *releases BDB to the Fade*

Marcella (marcella6) | 436 comments I am reading The King (Black Dagger Brotherhood, #12) by J.R. Ward . I had to order it online because the B&N near my work closed down. They are getting harder to find around my area.

message 5943: by Tellulah (new)

Ian (setaian) | 640 comments I'm reading Resisting the Rancher by Roxanne Snopek...it's the romance version of a BMW. Not all that original, not very imaginative not bad but if you want something that will surprise you look elsewhere.

I'm also reading Waiting on You by Kristan Higgins which is pretty good fun.

Resisting the Rancher (Three River Ranch, #4) by Roxanne Snopek Waiting On You (Blue Heron, #3) by Kristan Higgins

CR week...next week shall be dedicated to Laini Taylor!

I haven't heard of this author, Dee. Was book 1 good?
