hey I have an idea on how to make a few less folders instead of having a separate folder for each book in the generas we have one for each and discuss a different book or series each week we can spit them up between us which I think we pretty much did already so it wouldn't be to much work after we get all the folders out of the way we could just start a new folder each month or something
So you mean discussing the book(/s?) or a series each week, making a folder for it? Sorry could you elaborate I'm a bit slow today. :D Sorry.

I think we should do your idea Elizabeth it would be really great, perhaps do it kinda like Buddy reads but on a bigger scale?
How about we give Elizabeth's idea a test run? We could simply create a temporary folder, add in threads of each genre, then spotlight a book for each one as discussion topics. We can come up with questions to ask so it isn't simply just "what do you think of the book." P.S. Rachel Stedman has offered a signed copy of her book as to giveaway to celebrate our recent milestone in membership.

I've got a folder and a starting thread set up. Now, all we need is to pick books to feature. I'll pick out a contemporary one.

It's one book for each genre. Just post the picture and the description and mention somewhere in the post that it's Featured Book #1. I have a starter question in mind for each one, so I'll come by and do that for each genre.

I've added a thread for authors to sign up for interviews. I've offered to post the interviews on the blog and on this group, but any of you are free to pitch in with ideas of what to ask.
We've got an upcoming interview with Amber Turner. I'm in the middle of coming up with some interview questions. Does anyone have any particular suggestions? The interview is basically asking her about her and her writing. I would like to keep the number of questions at least under ten.
Good point. New threads are never seen unless they are at the top of the homepage. I'm working on a 'Links' page. It will have:~ The links to every folder and some places within the group e.g. polls
~ Short explanation to what folder has in it.
Should we combine the authors and bloggers folder together?The trivia and the games?
Book Stuff and Quotes?
It could save space but at the expense of ease of finding threads??? What do you guys think?

You actually don't need to read the book to discuss it. Almost all the questions can be answered by not knowing much about each book.

I'm really, really sorry I haven't been active, it's just that our mid-year exams are coming up. Once again I'm sorry. But I'll be back for a while and I'll do a bit of mantainance here and there tonight and tommorrow. BTW Jenny and I will have a 2 week break in a while! (YAY!)So I'll be a lot more active then.
I was wondering, I think it might just be me but my Goodreads has started to crash often, the problem with the capacity of GoodReads not being big enough. Has it happened to anyone else?
It didn't happen to me today, I don't think. But it did happen a few tines a day or two ago.

I really love the featured books idea but perhaps it could be made in a 'game'. A mod will post a book or two each week and have questions concerning the book title, cover, first impression, first sentence etc.I was thinking that we should have some kind of challenge to get members more active and commenting more. We are gaining more members every day but we are losing activity. Only 30 or so members actually keep up with the group and participate! Any ideas?
A point system of sorts?

Maybe we can incorporate this into the month's nonreading challenge. Maybe it can be a commenting based challenge. I like having the impressions thing. I could do a whole bunch of different things like that.
So, with the start of that, we can have the challenge. We can also have other activities.
Okay, I think I've got a plan brewing, and I think I would like to enact it Saturday, Sunday at the latest. It would be a discussion challenge. The Book Club
-It would have its own folder for the month. The topics created for the challenge would go in there, and we would have links to any threads that we'll keep their own folders.
-We would post books' covers, first sentences, descriptions, etc. for members to comment on first impressions.
-We would have a series of topics (some of which we already have threads for) and it would be like "How do you address . . ." whichever topic we have at hand.
-We could come up with a few fun stuff, like maybe different types of nominations. We would ask members to "nominate" their favorite book cover, book title, heroine, and other bookish stuff. It'd be a way to get more people sharing their favorites. (This suggestion is a maybe because I just came up with it in the midst of typing).
-We could have a few other smaller areas that we could focus on in order to get members back to commenting on, too, like games.
I'm also thinking we can split things up. Like each of us choosing a number of topics to discuss, and books for first impressions. We can each come up with our smaller area area to focus on, so like one person can take games and another takes another section. Each of us would come with our own ways to get people participating. For example, with games (again), there could be suggestions like
-Participate actively in two different games
-Create your own game
-Ask and answer at least six questions of trivia
(And so on.)
So each of us would have a suggestion list like that, but for whichever section we're running.
That sounds awesome :)! Like a member of the month sort of thing. Whoever is the most active etc.Could I perhaps take charge of the poll/nominations area? e.g. providing some heroine quotes/book covers/descriptions etc. And then having them vote for their favourite like you said.
We can compile a list of how you can get 'points' and slot 'goals' under each Mods category.
When we collect the 'points' for each of our sections we should update it on the Mod Chat or maybe somewhere else? So at the end we can collate the points.
We can broadcast a message to the group on this. Who would like to do that? If not I can do it.
I don't think we will be able to start today or tomorrow though? I'm not sure if Jenny or Elizabeth knows?

I can do the poll/nominations. That will be my mod category. :)I can also run the main category of the first impression. I'm thinking I can start with that and a few discussion topics to start the whole thing off. We can add in our mod stuff later on.
I don't think the other mods know yet, but Elizabeth is unavailable right now. She told me earlier this week that she's been having eye problems and will have surgery. So, she may not be back in awhile.
Where should the folder for this go among all of the others?
OK then could I take charge of the misc and commenting category e.g. things like:Easy
- comment on a featured BOTW thread
Medium
- voice your opinions in 3 debates
- suggest a book/books for BOTMs
Hard
- comment about a book for each genre folder
- participate in a challenge this month
etc.
For every easy thing you get 10 points, medium: 20, hard: 30. Or do you think there could be another way to alocate points? I think going up in 10s is easy in terms of Math hahahaha.
We should start a thread where people can sign up also.
BTW I think that Jenny will be able to help out as well. You could start with the first impression activites but I don't think I can post the goals for my Mod Category until Thursday (Friday for me)because I have mid-year exams coming up. Sorry, lol.
1)So you want to start first with the impressions and come in with the categories afterwards? Afterwards by how many days? (Just so I know how long I have to make my goals for my category)
