The Host

I know a lot of people seemed to have hated it but i stand by opinion. everyone have a good day Peace A

I don't know. It's a toss up for me between all of the books Meyer has wrote, but I think The Host get's the slight edge. It's just slightly more interesting.

I totally agree! I just saw it a few days ago, and I was so disappointed. They really could have made the movie into two parts, and they wouldn't have had to cut so much out (or add things that didn't happen). I'm not too happy about the casting either...*sigh*. Oh well, at least we have the book still! :D

I'm in the early 300's and I still don't have the answer!

At about the 100 / 150 page mark

That being said, this is WAY to similar to the Pretties series, which I believe had a much stronger plot and more detail.I spent this entire reading experience thinking, "didn't something similar happen in...". I'm not sure that this book wasn't after that series, but they are too similar to ignore it..

More like 200. or even 250.

I didn't finish the first time I tried to read it. The second time I made myself keep going. If you can push yourself to read the first 1/3 to 1/2 That's when it starts to get good. I liked it a lot except for the painful beginning. A bunch of us felt that way.

I have recommend to lots of people. Cliche or not, I couldn't put it down.

So true.

I really liked the book, thought it a very unique love story. The internal struggle between Wanda and Melanie was my favorite part of the book and how Melanie fought to keep her idenity and wouldn't let go. I too am surprised there is a sequel thought she ended it well but will read to see where she takes it from here.

It definitely was a unique/weird/exciting relationship dynamic between the 4 of them, but it plays out very well so keep on reading ;-)

Looking forward to seeing the film.

I disagree, sorry. You may be right in that yeah the plot doesn't seem to take off properly until then but for me @ 100 pages / 150, that was when I actually started to want to read it, if you see what I mean. I was a bit reluctant before that.

much better than the twilight series by Meyer

I just finished The Host about a week ago. It was a strange book that was on my mind (while not reading it) pretty consistently. It was difficult for me to get into it in the beginning, but after 100 pages or so I just wanted to keep reading to know what would happen next. I was a little sad when it finished, and I don't agree with the new host they chose for Wanda. Wanda didn't seem like a dainty girl to me, I felt her soul was stronger than that. I also thought there would be more on the humans getting their world back, but it was mostly a love story. I did enjoy it anyways though!

Evelyn it really is a good book. You should give it a try and be patient for the first 100 pages or so. After that the book picks up the pace.

Hmm, okay. I'm going to give it a go, then.

but I decided I don't like The Host either. I tried to read it, I really did, but I guess I just can't like it! There is something about the book that just irks me, I don't know what it is, but I just can't.
It was really boring and yes, it kicks in at like 200 pages or so but I can't do it, I can't like it. Not for me.

I can definitely understand that. It's about 600 pages or so long, isn't it?

And I really love Ian & Wanda <3 they are so sweet :D

I've seen the movie as well and loved the way they portrayed the characters from the book, especially Ian. :)

It's hard to keep reading though. I'm moving through it really slowly.

as soon as i see a movie preview for a book i know is going to be good, i read the book first, before i see the movie.

shes making a sequel? oh thank goodness, i didnt want the story to end so soon.
Was slow to begin with, but now I feel it was necessary to get us invested in the characters, give a bit of background and make us feel something.
I'm looking forward to the rest in the series and I LOVED Wanda!
