Mojca | 84 comments Don't worry, Ilse. Everybody has their own taste in books (and everything else).
I have to agree with you guys about her earlier books seeming like they were written in a different decade, if you take out the sex scenes - I don't remember Barbara Cartland ever writing sex scenes (but she did have poodles).
But Feehan's later works are better, they got better as she changed publisher (the same strangely happened to Lora Leigh's Breed series), but her GhostWalkers are worth a try. Maybe just one book as a sample, you can always swap it for another if that really isn't your thing.

Oe! Dream Hunter... Lauren, you'll love Dream Hunter!
The dream god is interestingly evil...and not the normal run of the mill save the day kindda hero.

Ilse Snell | 112 comments Re: Dream Hunter, does anyone perhaps know whether there will be a book on Zebulon ( featured in Dream Hunter) or Savitar?
i would absolutely spontaneously combust when i get my hands on those books.
Acheron, Savitar and Zebulon are apparently all in the same league of power... although, no-one is ever really sure on whether Savitar is a goodie or a baddie. And Savitar's got a boss... allegedly.
oooeee! maybe it's Jaden!or wait, SK wont be so obvious.... maybe its Zebulon! or even the Destroyer? *sulk* the possible answers are just opening doors to more questions...

Hi Alathea, seems like the publishers and the poodles are the root of all evil :)
i'm fairly new to this genre and is always willing to try new authors...tho clearly now, i'm a bit skittish.
As always I'd like to learn about more paranormal authors... since my recent Twilight high was followed by my mother raising both her eyebrows (which is quite a feat) and my aunt whispering, "they will have to pray for my soul". *tsk tsk tsk* I say... "eyes were made to look... so let them read"

message 206: by Adrienne (new)

Adrienne i'm about 30 pages into Dream Warrior and i've already had to reach for the tissues::must be hormonal lol)::

Same here.

As for "Burning Wild", I'm definatly going to give that Feehan book a chance. Dominating alpha man times ten? Yes please!

Zebulon ... Zebulon...
from the chthonic race... same as Savitar... he makes a brieve appearance in Dream hunter, when the Dolphini decided to attack Arik.

message 213: by Lauren (new)

Lauren | 126 comments I am so excited to read Dream hunter now...
8 hours of work then I am free to go to borders with my 40% off coupon!

message 214: by The Flooze (new)

The Flooze (the_flooze) Oh! Thanks, Ilse. I don't think I registered his name while reading. That's right, they were calling him Z for short.

message 215: by Lauren (new)

Lauren | 126 comments So half way done Dream hunter and I have to say I am loving Solin.

message 216: by The Flooze (new)

The Flooze (the_flooze) Solin? I can't wait for him to show up again. I'm hoping he gets a book. The rapport was awsome between him and Arik.

message 217: by Lauren (new)

Lauren | 126 comments yes it was great. I just kept laughing..... hubby thinks I have gone off the deep end.

message 218: by Ilse (last edited May 29, 2009 12:22AM) (new)

Ilse Snell | 112 comments I'm STILL busy with "upon a midnight clear".
why oh why oh why!!!
this book gives Dream gods a bad name :( and i so loved the previous Dream hunter book. I dont know what it is with this one. Could it be the "troubled" hollywood actor? who has been betrayed by everyone in his life... and now acts like his world ended in some scene out of a disaster movie? could it be his "i hate the world and now i'm going off to a cabin to sulk" behaviour? who knows.... All i know is i want to finish it so that i can finally read Dream chaser.

message 219: by Ilse (new)

Ilse Snell | 112 comments oh, and i think i need to re-read Acheron... just to touch base with the things that happened, which i might not have understood before... since i read Acheron first.

message 220: by Denell (new)

Denell | 14 comments Although Upon a midnight clear is not as great compared to the other novels I really liked the idea behind it.

The fact that some people think they are entitled to what someone else has. And gets upset when they do not get what the other person has. Its typical human behaviour, and it this case went as far as murder!

While reading the book I was wondering if Sherrilyn was having the same issues as Aidan in some way. Since fame does weird things to family and friends. Maybe she's been inundated with requests for money from family and friends.

message 221: by Lauren (new)

Lauren | 126 comments I just finished dream hunter my next one is Upon the midnight clear. oh boy does that mean it't not that good?
Dream hunter book was kinda weird for me. It was strange to see Nick when he was young and still friends with Ash and Kyrain at the end.
It took me a minute to remeber it was set in the 90s. I have to say Kat is really all over the place hehe. I liked the couple but not as much as some other couples I like. I give it about a "c" avergage. It was just ok for me.

Nee Denell! :) Die feit dat hy n Hollywood actor is, het my grensloos geirriteer! Can you imagine Brad Pitt finding out a dreamgod is protecting his ass (....fine ass) from another god named Pain? That plot is is just a no-go for me and i think the characters arent developed well enough... i mean seriously, would you kill your brother (in your case and Aidan's, your only brother) because you're jealous? No, you'd need to be weird and psycho to do that. And in the case of the this book, i just want the "reasons for being" to make more sense.
And i just dont feel anything for the characters. Although, now i know Zeus is a ruthless idioto... who feels he can just kill left right and centre because of his ego being damaged. The god complex clearly went to his head.
Oh well... back to the topic.
Maybe SK did/do have issues with family and friends being leeches because of her fame... who knows.
I'm almost done with the book though... so the verdict is still out for me.... maybe something will happen to sway my vote. But sadly right now,I'm tempted to say, "boot it off the Dark hunter island!"

Lauren... you should read it... maybe you'll like it.
i was just being a little over opinionated......again.
as for Dream Hunter: :) C average? really? hehehehehehe!! I agree Katra is really all over the place. She goes where Atremis sends her. I like her.
And i loved Solin. I think somewhere in Acheron Ash tells Tory about Arik's godliness... and then adds that Geary doesnt know. I'm speaking under correction here, but how could she not know? Dream hunter was written before Acheron... or does it somehow tie in with the plot of them keeping Arik's godliness a secret?
anyhow, read 'upon a midnight clear' and then tell us what you think.

Tsk tsk Illa, you taking this too far! hehehehehe Its an inbetweener novel..I think you're annoid cause you wanna be reading dream chaser and one silent night already! hahahaahhaha

LOL imagine Aidan as Brad Pitt but Leta will probably be Jennifer Aniston...then the Skotos Angelina will come and steel him away!

message 225: by Lauren (new)

Lauren | 126 comments I will definately read it.
yeah I don't know, it just didn't do it for me like some others but thats just me. I did definately love Solin. Maybe that was it, I liked him better then the main characters. Yeah they said that Tory does'nt know and just Geary knew... but isn't Arik just a mortal now or did he still have his god powers at the end? The only thing I thought that connected Acheron and Dream Hunter was Tory and finding Atlantis. Don't remember much of Arik in Ash's book.
well I am hoping to get my books I ordered from betterworldbooks soon. I have Dead After Dark in there. I don't think my husband is letting me near the bookstore to get the next one yet.

hhehehehehehe... awh, Lauren... i feel your pain. People keeping you away from your precious books can be a hazardous situation. Maybe you should just tell him you're going to get some milk or something.... and come back with DH books :)
hehehehehhehe.... if that fails, try the puppy eyes ... could be a killer weapon in the wrong hands ;)

Lauren | 126 comments Hahahaha
I do wake up before he does. I could definately just walk out the door and head to the store and get some milk for a cover and sneak in my books. hmmmmm I feel a plan in the works.

I'm definitely more attracted to the Katagarian wolves (Vane especially... Fury and Fang a close second and third)....
oooeee!!!!!! Vane.... *sswwwwwwoooooonnnnn!!!*

message 235: by Ilse (new)

Ilse Snell | 112 comments So, i have given up on "Upon a midnight clear". I know, i know... it's such a thin book with little pages and big fonts, but... this is a prime example of how all those factors doesnt always equal an easy read. Thank the gods I borrowed it and didnt buy it. That alone was the reasaon i put up with the book for as long as i did, alas... the strength of Hercules evaded me (or less dramatically) i just wasn't strong enough.
Started reading "Dream Chaser" last night... and i love it!!! Its just so funny and action packed and funny and action packed... and , did i mention Xypher is hot? :D hot!! And Simone... good characters... great plot... great book....
almost at the halfway mark. Cant wait to get home and continue reading. Had to sadly go earn my living, to expand my SK book collection...Xypher is so agro! hahaha!!! And more and more people are finding out that the dream gods got their emotions back… wont be long until the news reaches Zeus! And when Acheron just told Xypher (in a leisurely tone) “although I appreciate suicidal tendencies… it would be wise to remember who you’re addressing, and more importantly, what I can do to you…. No-one said you have to return to Tartarus in one piece.”
that was so funny! so Acheron, so "I am death and destruction, the be all and end all, i dare you to test my patience" Hilarious! That's Acheron portrayed at his best.

Adrienne i've just started furys story::only at chapter 2 but it seems good so far::trying to work out how he meets/who the love interest could be at the moment:)::hey i like vane to::i reallly enjoyed his book::and i liked the way she introduced him in Sunshines book::what do people think about wrens book?::i haven't been able to hold of a copy yet::

message 238: by Ilse (last edited Jun 04, 2009 12:19AM) (new)

Ilse Snell | 112 comments aaahhh, Adrienne, I fell inlove with Vane in Sunshine and Talon's novel already. And I think it was brilliant of SK to lay the basis of Vane's story in Night Embrace... so that by the time Night Play came around, we were all on edge wanting to know more about the Katagari.
I read "Unleash the night" Wren's tale. It was ok. If you liked "Dark Side of the moon", then you'll love "Unleash the night". Alot of old characters pop in, which i think you'll like. I liked Wren... and his lifestory was intense kinda sad... but i didnt like Maggie. Or her dad for that matter. But then again, I dont like alot of things...
Anyway, Adrienne, when you get your copy, tell us what you think.

message 239: by Lauren (new)

Lauren | 126 comments Been to two bookstores and can't find Upon The Midnight Clear. my library doesn't have it either. I think I might just have to order it.

message 240: by Adrienne (last edited Jun 07, 2009 05:28AM) (new)

Adrienne are there any second hand bookstores or charity(thrift) stores where you could get a copy from?::i only ask b/c if you have to pay full price.....well::i think ilse may agrree on this one with me::its not that good::
Ilse i endured it:) i think we should force you keep at it until you've finished::and then write a page by page acount of what you read ha ha::

message 241: by Lauren (new)

Lauren | 126 comments i can check. Last time I went there the books were just all over the place the guy had no organization. He was like oh yeah that could be in Fantasy/romance/mystery- ok maybe/ and he said Horror which I was like these books are so not Horror.

SHould i just skip it? I mean is there anything good in it that Im gonna miss or can I just to to the next one?

message 242: by Adrienne (new)

Adrienne i can't really remember what happened in it::and::for ilse to give up on it....well::i'd wait until she posts::unless you're uber desperate for your SK fix:)::i know quite a few of us struggled with it tho'::

message 243: by The Flooze (new)

The Flooze (the_flooze) Midnight gives you the background for the Dream Hunters and why they were punished and is directly related to the last one that came out. Since I think the Dream Hunters are about to play a MUCH more prominent role in the series, it's probably worth reading.

message 244: by Adrienne (new)

Adrienne true::i agree the books do seeem to be going more in that direction::the first Dream Hunter books where very good::but i can't help but feel that the story for this one was kind of put together in a rush::i admit that i was originally going to miss it out::but b/c i'm a stickler for completing a series i just couldn't miss it out::

message 245: by The Flooze (new)

The Flooze (the_flooze) Oh, neither Midnight nor Warrior are favorites of mine. Dream Chaser on the other hand I adored and Xypher is totally one of my top men. But Midnight has Deimos in it (yum) and shows that the furies are not the uber bad guys we've previously seen them portrayed as. They just serve a purpose, and when not on duty, can be just as interesting and sympathetic as the rest of the characters.

message 246: by Adrienne (last edited Jun 07, 2009 11:48AM) (new)

Adrienne with warrior i thought there was too much story::it all seemed to get carried way and out of control::i loved the bits with jared and jaden and think there was room for a really good story there if there hadn't been so much extra perhapes unnecessary stuff going on::anyway i think i read alot of it::without actually reading it if you know what i mean::just enough to follow the story so that the next book will make sense::i'm erally really hoping that she'll pull the stops out and give us something to equal or better acheron::

message 247: by The Flooze (new)

The Flooze (the_flooze) I was sort of torn by Warrior. I felt THROWN into the action, not understanding how characters barely mentioned before had suddenly managed a coup and how the Dream Hunters had suddenly found themselves in such a bad way. Also, for the very first time in the whole of the series, the main characters fell flat and their relationship seemed force. I was quite surprised, since even Stryker and his lady love seemed real, even though I can't stand her.

It was, as the case is with all the Dream books, filler to bring us up to speed about what's going on behind the scenes. But the threat from Noir had seemed imminent but not yet ACTIVE before that, so I was confused.

Bad Moon Rising will definitely bring us back to center. I just hope that the info about the Source, etc. is enough to make that part of the story more understandable.

message 248: by Lauren (new)

Lauren | 126 comments Thanks everyone! I definately need a SK fix thats for sure and I am a stickler too for reading in order and finishing series so I will read it with an open mind hehe.
I agree Adrienne The Dream Hunter book felt rushed and just thrown togehter I was definately missing the dark hunter men. Solin was the one who did it for me in that book.
Im on major count down for Bad moon Rising ugh it can't get here any faster.

message 249: by The Flooze (new)

The Flooze (the_flooze) Solin was AWESOME! I love him. I hope he features in this next arc. He was mentioned in passing in the last book, so I know SK still has him in her head. I definitely want to see his playboy sarcastic self again.

message 250: by Lauren (new)
