Mojca | 84 comments I can see your predicament. But, the romance is important...The saving grace for these gorgeous badasses.
Luckily I'm reading this series from the very beginning, so I had my DH dose pretty spread out, so I can't complain, but I did notice the rather repetitive romantic plot-lines when I did read two or more books in a row.
When read separately, whenever a book is published, one tends not to notice those things.

I hope you'll catch up quickly, so you'll be able to join us in our yammering and drooling after the boys.

Big wave and welcome to the DH club!

I think I'm going to let Jaime buy it...haha....seeing as I bought every other one on my own!

The Flooze (the_flooze) Yeah!

But that means she'll read it first! Can you trust her not to blab spoilers?!

yeah, no worries....besides by the time it does come out I might be doing better financially and buy it myself

Tiffany Trevino | 19 comments You guys are funny... I finally got them to send me a copy of Fear The Darkness.. Anyone have a take on that? It was too short.

I finally own the whole DH series, with the last few in the mail now. I tend to re-read series several times, and this one I have only read once. I have found that between ebay and half.com I have got some awesome deals. Half.com has several "publisher overstock" people, you can get brand new HC/PB editions for great prices. In case you didn't already know. I got a my Acheron HC brand new for $9.

message 56: by The Flooze (new)

The Flooze (the_flooze) Oh! Nice! I'll have to check it out. Thanks for the advice!

message 57: by Mojca (new)

Mojca | 84 comments Thanks for the tip, Tiffany. I just might reconsider my initial decision to wait until BMR is released in paperback. Woohoo!

message 58: by Lauren (new)

Lauren | 126 comments I just finished Unleash the Night. I am tring to read them in order but i am just dying to get to ASH'S book.

message 59: by Tiffany (last edited Apr 27, 2009 06:29PM) (new)

Tiffany Trevino | 19 comments I am reading Seize the Night again...
This books seems so pivitol that I wanted to see if I missed something.. And it is such a great book..
mmmm.. Lots of Val.. Ash.. Nick...

message 60: by Chasidy (new)

Chasidy | 157 comments Seize the Night is my favorite book, Tiffany. It's possible that it's my fav simply because of Mr. Valerius Magnus. My oh my, he sure is soooomethiiiing.

Adrienne Denell wrote: "Only recently discovered the amazing world of the Dark Hunters! Started with Acheron! Now started reading the series from the start although i wanted to know more about Kat and Sin and read that on..."

Ha HA thats what i found::so i intersperse them with something a bit different::for me it was the BDB and the Makers Song Series::that way i found them good to read and not at all tedious::glad you like them tho' they are rather scrummy especially Zarek who i have a real soft spot for:)::

message 62: by Denell (new)

Denell | 14 comments Just finished Night Play, gonna read Winter Moon next and then its on to Sieze the Night! I hope its gonna be good.

Have noticed in the last two books Sherrilyn style has changed a bit. And I love it! The first few books were a bit overly "erotic". I like the fact there is more indepth plot now. Also the characters are more refined than in earlier books. Guess its as Sherrilyns writing emproving as she writes more books. Awesome!

message 63: by Tiffany (last edited Apr 29, 2009 06:10PM) (new)

Tiffany Trevino | 19 comments Has anyone caught the Dark Hunter videos on YouTube.com? I have seen most of them on SK page, but some I hadn't seen before. They are fun to day dream with.. I love seeing through other peoples eyes how they pictures these gorgeous men. I seem to be working my way through the series for the hell of it.. I am now on Night Embrace.. again.

I didn't realize that there was soo many videos for almost every book I love and author..

message 64: by The Flooze (new)

The Flooze (the_flooze) I'll have to look those up. To you tube I go!

message 65: by Chasidy (last edited Apr 29, 2009 10:15PM) (new)

Chasidy | 157 comments I've seen them, Tiffany! They're great. Have you seen the one with Eliza Dushku(sp?) I think she's suppose to portray Tabitha. I don't remember which video it is but she's dancing in what I assume is suppose to be Sanctuary. :) Now I just have to watch those videos again.

This one's my favorite.. well, one of them atleast

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9NgUli...

Now I just have to read Fantasy Lover again.

message 66: by Adrienne (last edited Apr 29, 2009 11:18PM) (new)

Adrienne omg yes ::those vids are really good::there's one with Ash (and no not the guy on the cover of the book/official vid who IMO is not Ash at all) and Tori ::WoW::

message 67: by Tiffany (new)

Tiffany Trevino | 19 comments The videos are always fun, and yes Chasidy I did see that one.. it is one of my favorites too..

So I am re-reading Night Embrace. And I find this odd, but I am a HUGE anything Celtic lover, especially everything Scotish.. But for some reason Talon doesn't appeal to me like I would expect him too. I mean I have an endless library all set in Scotland, I own most of Kinley's Highland novels.. and I soo love the idea of Dark Hunters, and a Celtic Dark Hunter should be my ultimate fantasy.. and yet, I find him just ok. I don't get it.. I mean Kell is more appealing in his short reference.. I just can't figure it out, and it is sad.

message 68: by Chasidy (new)

Chasidy | 157 comments Talon doesn't appeal to you at all? I find Talon one of the Dark-Hunters that appeals to me more so than others. Possibly it's because he wears leather and has that tattoo Sunshine only gets the honor of touching I find absolutely sexy. :D Night Embrace is one of my favorite books from the DH series. Probably more so than Seize the Night and that's saying a lot because I do love Val. WHat's your favorite scene in Night Embrace, Tiffany?

I'm rereading Fantsay Lover. As much as I read this book I seem to be picking up a lot of things I missed or forgotten. Hm, like the fact Grace and Julian are suppose to have 6 children. How many children do they have up to date?

message 69: by The Flooze (new)

The Flooze (the_flooze) I think they are on their 6th kid? I remember some twins being involved.

I'm not big on Talon either, even though I also like Celtic myth. My issues with it came more from the conceits she uses to bring that pair together.

SPOILERS******

The whole isolation from the outside world didn't sit well with me, nor did the past lives vehicle. I'm glad it's the only time she's used it.

The Celtic mythology isn't very deeply explored, though I did like the glimpses into Talon's past.

Definitely no swooning going on, even though I like him as a character.

Oh! And I spent the whole time imagining Sunshine as Angela from Bones...

message 70: by Tiffany (new)

Tiffany Trevino | 19 comments Chasidy wrote: "Favorite Scene?"

Honestly my favorite scenes are many, and they mostly deal with Ash... yeah, back to Ash... *pant*pant*

****spoiler for Night Embrace *****

I loved the scene in the diner with Nick and Ash, Ash getting carded, and then watching Nick's mom "mother" them both.

I absolute LOL everytime at the scene with Ash and Artemis, when he is trying to leave and she complains about his hair color, she changes it to blonde, then he changes it back and changes her too.. I could just see it perfectly. The look on Artemis' face would be priceless.

Oh yes, and when Sunshine makes him sleep on the couch and then teases him.. that was great.

The part with Zarek looking at Sunshine's wares makes me want to cry though.

You know I like this book, and I like Talon's character, don't get me wrong... I just think it is odd with my "highlander" obsession that I am not ALL ABOUT TALON. I think Michelle hit it right on, she didn't really explore Celtic Mythology much at all, and when talking about his past or present she didn't make him talk much with a brogue, or get in depth with his culture.. Maybe that is why I don't quite put him in my HOT HIGHLANDER catagory. He is hot though. I guess if anyone has read Karen Marie Moning's Highland series.. I would have like Talon to be closer to Adam Black or Dageus MacKeltar, more celtic bad ass, but a Dark Hunter to boot. :)

message 71: by Ilse (new)

Ilse Snell | 112 comments Hi All!!
i have recently started reading the DH Series' ... and i have to say... i am so obsessed!!! i cant do anything else with my days.... its Dark hunters to the max!!! LOVE it :) i'm reading Devil may cry now.... and although i read Acheron first... it so nice to see how each charcter developed.i cant wait untill i get to read One silent night and Dream chaser.
that should be definitely interesting.
PS: i love the romance and the happy endings.... *sigh* now, just to find a guy with dark hunter potential, and god like powers.... thats "mated" to you...
oe! you know who else i loved? the Katagarian wolves... especially Vane.... oe! vane... tsk tsk...

message 72: by Chasidy (new)

Chasidy | 157 comments Ilse, have you read the earlier books? I find myself rereading her earlier books moreso than the later ones. I don't know why. I think Im just stuck on them. I do admit that I need to brush up on the Dream-Hunters though.

message 73: by Ilse (new)

Ilse Snell | 112 comments Hey Chasidy, urg! dream hunters... SK needs to develope those characters more, then we might be swooning over them too...
but yes, her earlier DH books are very very good...
i cant wait to read about Fang and Aimee.... that will be great! i think i'm pass the point of DH insanity... since i want to name my future children after the DH characters...
hehehehe... so sad

message 74: by Chasidy (new)

Chasidy | 157 comments Ilse, you're not alone! Haha, I already told my friends I want to name my son Nicholas after our lovely Nick Gautier. LOL, but then I also LOVE the names Talon, Kyrian, and Julian. Oh the choices........ By the way, BMR (Bad Moon Rising) is going to be GREAT!

message 75: by Ilse (new)

Ilse Snell | 112 comments hahahahahha!!! thats hilarious! at least that makes 2 of us.
i'm literally sitting on edge waiting to go get Bad moon rising... i squinted through the discussion on it, and damn...
patience was never a virtue of mine.

message 76: by Lauren (new)

Lauren | 126 comments I am starting Dark Side of the Moon
tonight. I can't wait !!

message 77: by Ilse (new)

Ilse Snell | 112 comments Lauren, what other DH books did you read?
Read Dark Side of the moon... and tell us what you think of the characters...

message 78: by Lauren (new)

Lauren | 126 comments will do ! I have read them in order so far starting with with Fantasy Lover and the last one that i read was Sins of the Night. I love Kyrain and Nick, Val and Zerek is my favorite so far.

message 79: by Ilse (new)

Ilse Snell | 112 comments hhhmmm... yes... they are yummy...
I love Alexion... i dont really know why... its like he oozes attraction trough the pages... hahahahha!!!
and then of cause, Kyrian and Julian... cause Spartan Warriors are HOT, whether they want to be or not.
and obviously Vane...*swwooonnnn!*
anyway. I didnt like Valerius at first, i think i was a bit biased since i read Zarek's and Kyrian's story first... but i ended up liking him just as much as the king of sneering,Zarek.
i love how SK characterizes the greek mythological creatures... it peaks my interest even more so.

message 80: by Lauren (new)

Lauren | 126 comments yes her greek myths are what attracted me to the books to beging with, I love mythology. I guess I like How Zarek and Valerius pick on each other. Oh Yeah Vane is great So hot and sexy. I hope her books never end I love them all.

message 81: by Ilse (new)

Ilse Snell | 112 comments I agree with you Lauren, on all above mentioned :) i'm completely trapped in the DH world of Gods, Demi Gods, vamps, warriors, ancient pantheons demons... there's no telling what will happen once the Dark hunter book supply comes to an end... I will have to force SK to write another one. i hear creativity has a strange way of sprouting under preasure.hahahhaha!!
But seriously though... i dont even want to think of the what-if's when the Dark hunters end.

message 82: by Lauren (new)

Lauren | 126 comments You are so right on having to force her to write another one. My husband thinks I am crazy cause I am into them so much. I tried to explain it to him once and he looked at me like I had 5 heads.

message 83: by Ilse (new)

Ilse Snell | 112 comments hahahahahhahahahahahahaha!!!!
wow! His expression must have made for an interesting sight :D
i think you need a certain amount of estrogyn to understand the insane need for Dark Hunters.
Dark hunter books are to us, what porn is to men.
you cant define it or describe it... it just IS.
gutta go Lauren...
read your "dark side of the moon"

message 84: by Lauren (new)

Lauren | 126 comments hahaha oh yeah it just IS !!

message 85: by Tiffany (new)

Tiffany Trevino | 19 comments Lauren wrote: "You are so right on having to force her to write another one. My husband thinks I am crazy cause I am into them so much. I tried to explain it to him once and he looked at me like I had 5 heads. "

That is too funny.. My husband watches me with my DH obsession, and he has agreed to try one of the books out this summer. I can't decide which one to give him to read. I would like to start him off on Fantasy Lover, BUT I don't think he would appreciate it as much as I do... I was thinking the Dance with the Devil.. Everyone has to love Zarek!

And Ilse... You are right, it is like OUR Porn! LOL
All I need is my books and my imagination... The men can have the computer! HAHAAH

message 86: by Lauren (new)

Lauren | 126 comments Tiffany, I think you might even be able to get away with Kyrian's book too. Thats great you husband will read one! let us know what he says about it, I would love to hear what a man has to say about it.

message 87: by Chasidy (last edited May 07, 2009 03:28PM) (new)

Chasidy | 157 comments Tiffany, I think you should give your husband the one with the most action. I agree with Lauren, Kyrian's book may be a good choice.

Ilse, you are right! Spartan warriors ARE hott! My fascination with them started when I saw Brad Pitt in Troy. :D

message 88: by Ilse (new)

Ilse Snell | 112 comments Yes Lauren, start your husband on Kyrian's book, and then slowly work your way through to read Acheron's. although he might cringe at the ancient greeks and their preference for male lovers... either way... his expressions should be entertaining.

aaahhh... Chasidy... i agree... Brad Pitt / Achilles, Persephone and the quickly shedded loin cloth.
*sigh* what dreams are made of :)

message 89: by Chasidy (new)

Chasidy | 157 comments Though this has nothing to do with which book I'm reading I just need to say, damn Mr.Pitt looked so good in his armor. Especially when he returned to his tent from fighting and he stripped off his armor one by one and washed up.. mmmm yummy. :)

Anyway, I'm currently reading Night Embrace.

message 90: by Ilse (new)

Ilse Snell | 112 comments *sniggers*

Night Embrace is good. Talon is good :)
i loved reading about his Celtic warrior history.
Although, i could just kick SK at the end of Night Embrace...
but i'll wait for you to finish before i elaborate on what tweaked me... dont want to give the plot away.

message 91: by Lauren (new)

Lauren | 126 comments OMG I love that movie Troy!!!!! I think I just love the warrior/protector type.

message 92: by Sheila (last edited May 08, 2009 08:27PM) (new)

Sheila Hendrix (sheilahendrix) Hello, I'm new to this group and just wanted to introducd myself. I'm 44, irish and a nurse. I'm a published author of three books in the scifi/fantasy genre and am currently working on my fourth.

I love Sherrilyn Kenyon! She has got to be one of my favorites. I never even knew who she was until last year when I went out to the store to buy undergarments. LOL! I decided to go to Books a Million first. "A very big mistake!" I'm an avid reader and they had a sale. A lot of her books were on sale and I picked up one to read the back of it. "Another big mistake." I spent $175 dollars that day on her books and have been hooked ever since. Needless to say, I never got my undergarments. LOL!

Thanks for having me. I am currently reading "Dark Side of the Moon." I love all of her books but so far, Zarek and Talon's stories are my favorite.

Adrienne Hi::its been a long time since my last post::i'm just finishing Dream Chaser::once i'd got past pg46 (where i was stuck for ages) i really flew thru and enjoyed it::i like Xypher and liked the way Jaden was introduced::i need to check which is the next book as i'm not too sure whether i have it on loan from the library::if its Acheron i've already read it::so i guess the next one after that is Dream Warrior ::i have a list of the series somewhere on a sheet of paper:: really i should be more organized and keep everything bookish...in well....a book ::

message 94: by Sheila (new)

Sheila Hendrix (sheilahendrix) LOL! I'm right there with you Adrienne. I forgot to mention Kyrian's story as one of my favorites also. How could I have possible forgot Kyrian! "gasp" Hey does anybody IM. If so look me up. I'm on AIM as sheilabes.

message 95: by Lauren (new)

Lauren | 126 comments Ok so finished Dark Side of the Moon. I don't know... Kinda didn't care for the ending that much. I am assuming that he didn't get his soul like he wanted. I did like how Nick got back into the story a little even if he did go to the dark side. Susan got on my nerves after awhile with her sarcasm and Ravyn was just ok. I have to say not one of my favorites in the series.

Ilse, I've already read this book several times. It's one of my absolute favorites. I can't decide between this one or Seize the Night. So what irked you at the end?

Welcome Sheila! SK is a Goddess, don't you think? You're not alone, I have a soft spot for Talon too. I look forward to talking DH with you. :)

message 99: by Sheila (new)

Sheila Hendrix (sheilahendrix) Hey Chasidy,

Yeah, SK is great! I don't know what it is about Talon, he sort of reminds me of Ash. I liked at the end where Ash got angry, very angry, and Talon calmed him down. I'm not sure any of the others could have done that.

that was what i thought as well Lauren... but i didnt want to tell you before hand, since you needed to read it first... Susan was just too much... she gave me a headache! and i didnt feel any sort of connection with the characters.
*humph* oh well, dont let that one book derail you Lauren... there's still plenty to make up for Dark side of the moon's lapse.
