Kirsten (kmcripn) It's April!

April's flower is the daisy and the sweet pea
The birthstone for April is the diamond and the white sapphire.
Did you know the moon this month can also be called the Egg Moon, the Grass Moon, or the Hare Moon?
Did you know the world April means "open"?

This month in history:
The dollar sign ($) was invented in 1778
The Great San Francisco Earthquake struck in 1906
The zipper was patented in 1913.

It is April 8th and we are expecting snow again. This winter just won't end! I can't wait to move next year to somewhere a bit warmer. Only one more winter to go.

message 1867: by ally ¯\(ツ)/¯ (new)

ally ¯\(ツ)/¯ (allykennedy) | 1002 comments Snowed here yesterday too. Although, we've had such a mild winter, I really can't complain. Some years its weeks of -40c and we've only had a few days where it was that cold this year....
Anything above -10c is tshirt weather in Winnipeg :P

We've already had the snowiest winter on record, over 110" total. It didn't even start until the end of January. February was brutal, but it has lingered on through March too. I'm done with the snow this year and ready for spring. At least it's supposed to start warming up (finally) in a couple days.

Kristie, try living in New York! Winter has been especially brutal here, -20s - -30s for a few weeks this winter. Cant wait for the few weeks of "summer"we get soI can at least see my motorcycle this year before storing it for winter again.... :(

Ally - That is exactly right. Right now, we are in road construction season. However, we are still getting snow, so there seems to be overlap this year. lol

Kirsten - Absolutely nothing I want to celebrate today! I want national nap day or eat chocolate day or something. :)

message 1882: by Bert (new)

Bert Berry (berryb) | 72 comments We moved here from South Bend, Indiana to get away from SNOW!

They didn't call it "Lake Effect" back then, but South Bend was just the right distance from Lake Michigan for the water to be 'sucked up' over the lake and 'Deposited' 10-inches at a time, on top of South Bend!

This would happen about 3 or 4 times per Winter!

But the Good part of it (if any 'good' could come from it!) was that I took my High School "Driver's Training" in all of that Snow!

B the BookAddict (bthebookaddict) OK, if you are NON-WHITE, stay away from this book Ending White Slavery. It is written by Matthew F. Hale, the highest priest of the nontheistic and ethnocentric religion, Creativity, and the founder of the group formerly known as the World Church of the Creator and now known as The Creativity Movement.

In 1998, Hale made headlines when his application for an Illinois law license was denied due to his religious beliefs in Creativity, described as a "gross deficiency in moral character".
