Kirsten (kmcripn) Can you imagine shopping for a bra?

message 1653: by Suzanne (new)

Suzanne (suzannevd) | 5 comments Lol the ones she's wearing in the pictures are very ugly. Looks like she made them herselfe.

message 1654: by Kirsten (new)

Kirsten (kmcripn) What is it with Floridians?

message 1655: by [deleted user] (new)

Lol wow that's too weird. I almost feel bad for her because she's only 21. She will almost certainly regret this.

Wow! I'm speechless ....

ally ¯\(ツ)/¯ (allykennedy) | 1002 comments I feel like although that would turn off quite a few men, it would also attract.... enthusiasts (? for lack of a better word...)

Virginie (chouettblog) | 350 comments Wow...what can you say to that?!

message 1659: by Cora (new)

Cora (missteacher333) | 98 comments Is anybody else going through a quasi-sideways phase since summer? I know, a little too cryptic. It just seems that in my circle at work, friends and family everybody is getting blindsided by one thing or another. I'm having trouble finding the time to get back to the happy place I've chosen for the last 5 years. Anyway, just wondering.

I tend to get like that when there is way to much bad news around or too many things to do and too little time. I then have to switch off the news and take a personal day so that I can completely block out everything or everybody...and go back to my happy place.

Thanks Virginie! Sometimes, another perspective is a world of encouragement!

Colleen | 139 comments ☆αlly☆ (litєrαry єscαpist) wrote: "I'm having a blast making a spooky/paranormal reading list for October!"

Mine includes The Shining and Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children. Would like to get to a few more!

message 1665: by ally ¯\(ツ)/¯ (new)

ally ¯\(ツ)/¯ (allykennedy) | 1002 comments Oooh!! Colleen after The Shining, you have to read Doctor Sleep. It is probably my favorite sequel of all time. Seriously.

message 1666: by ally ¯\(ツ)/¯ (new)

ally ¯\(ツ)/¯ (allykennedy) | 1002 comments I think I've finalized my October list. Voila!

The Monstrumologist (The Monstrumologist, #1) by Rick Yancey The Unbound (The Archived, #2) by Victoria Schwab Rooms by Lauren Oliver The Vanishing by Wendy Webb The Child Thief by Brom The Oversight (Oversight Trilogy, #1) by Charlie Fletcher The Stand by Stephen King Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince (Harry Potter, #6) by J.K. Rowling

Very nice, Ally! I still haven't read The Archived. It's been on my list for a while. I remember The Stand being good. I read it a long time ago. I have a few creepy books that I want to read that would be great for October, but I'm swamped for a while.

Colleen - I'm also planning to read Miss Peregrine. I think that will be my creepy October book. :)

Christine Hatfield (christinesbookshelves) | 800 comments GOOD MORNING EVERYONE!

message 1672: by Kirsten (new)

Kirsten (kmcripn) Wow, Ally! I would think reading THE STAND would take ALL of October by itself.

message 1673: by Christine (new)

Christine Hatfield (christinesbookshelves) | 800 comments I didn't read that book

message 1674: by Anima (new)

Anima Miejska | 1698 comments I really like your list, Ally. I read The Stand last month and it was huge, but I didn't like it very much, in places it was far too elaborate and repetetive to my tastes. I have Archived on my IPad but still have some other reads to go. Perhaps I will get to it in the second part of October. I really like the idea of reading spooky books this month :D

message 1675: by Christine (new)

Christine Hatfield (christinesbookshelves) | 800 comments I'm trying to finish this book called

Deserves To Die (To Die, #6) by Lisa Jackson

message 1676: by [deleted user] (new)

The stand was a really tough read for me. I enjoyed it but it took about three weeks. That's a really good list Ally. Reading scary books in October is a great idea! I might have to do that too :)

message 1677: by ally ¯\(ツ)/¯ (new)

ally ¯\(ツ)/¯ (allykennedy) | 1002 comments I've put off The Stand for too long because its HUUUUUGE. It's intimidating. I have an hour drive to work and an hour home everyday, so I've picked up the audiobook.

message 1678: by Colleen (new)

Colleen | 139 comments @ally - I know, I totally want to read Dr. Sleep but felt I couldn't until The Shining was read first. I've read the first chapter in Shining, OMG it's gonna be good - it is King after all. I bet The Stand is good on audio. With a commute like that you probably can't go wrong getting through it that way.

@kristie - can't wait to see what Miss Peregrine's all about, and Hollow City.

message 1679: by Savanes (new)

Savanes | 2107 comments Hey hey hey!
I know I've been awol the last few months so here's a bit of news. I'll be moving to Morocco in January! :D
Lately I've been living in my luggage (almost literally). I've been to France, Spain, Morocco, Remote locations in Morocco... Right now I'm in Spain, I'll be back to Casablanca next week, back to France in November, don't know yet where I'll be for Christmas and new year's eve and back to Morocco in January. So yeah a lot of packing and unpacking but I'm so excited about this new life. And as soon as I have a proper apartment of my own, I will have a proper internet connection!!! So you might hear a bit more from me.
Take care everyone!!

Lucky you Vanessa to see all those places but to do them all in less than a year must be exhausting too!

message 1682: by Savanes (new)

Savanes | 2107 comments Thank you guys! Actually what's tiring is not being at home! Other than that it's great and a change of scenery was much needed!

ally ¯\(ツ)/¯ (allykennedy) | 1002 comments I am massively frustrated with Adobe Digital Editions.
I used it on my old PC to view comic books from Netgalley.
I downloaded it last night on my new computer and it's saying the request expired. Further research online told me that its because the time on my computer is wrong (by 2 hours based on the error message). BUT IT ISN'T!
Has anyone experienced this, or know how to make it work?

Thanks :)

message 1691: by Kristie, Moderator (new)

Kristie | 6832 comments Mod
I've had that happen with Netgalley books too. I have no idea how to make it work properly. I'm not sure if it happens when Netgalley archives the title?? I don't why it would effect it like that. Someone else suggested moving the books to a different app, such as Calibre.

message 1692: by ally ¯\(ツ)/¯ (new)

ally ¯\(ツ)/¯ (allykennedy) | 1002 comments I JUST figured it out. I pushed my computer time forward 2 hours and then it let me. But this isn't a permanent fix at all. If it's you and me both Kristie, clearly the issue is with Adobe. Ridiculous.
Of course I find the "answer" 30 seconds after asking for help. LOL.
If this happens again/continues, I will most definitely try another app. I use Aldiko(?) on my phone for books, but I can't enjoy comics on my phone.

message 1693: by Kristie, Moderator (new)

Kristie | 6832 comments Mod
The only book that has disappeared from my Adobe, so far, has been the Netgalley title. I wasn't sure if it had something to do with that. I would suggest moving the Netgalley titles, at least.

message 1694: by ally ¯\(ツ)/¯ (new)

ally ¯\(ツ)/¯ (allykennedy) | 1002 comments I will do that. Thanks Kristie :)

Kirsten (kmcripn) So sad to hear Tom Magliozzi, one half of the wisecracking Car Talk duo known as "Click and Clack the Tappet Brothers," has died after complications from Alzheimer's Disease. He was 77.

http://www.npr.org/blogs/thetwo-way/2...

He and his brother have given me many a laugh, while teaching me something. I will miss him.
