I really cannot imagine taking my clothes somewhere to be washed, or even having someone else wash them. Spoilt Australian here, who has 5 loads of washing to do this weekend.
It's also currently 2.15am, and still 22C (71F). My kneecaps sweated today it's been so hot, I didn't know they could! Going to be 38C (100F) tomorrow and I am going to be tired and grumpy. I have so much trouble sleeping if it's not under 20C. This really doesn't bode well for all of summer, but thank goodness that we should cool down next week for a few days.
We had family Christmas today and Mum roasted a turkey while it was 37C (98F) which is stupid, but deliciously so. There is a reason Australians have started making other types of Christmas food. Roast dinners are ridiculous when it's this hot.

When I first started doing laundry (or anything else), I did it the way my mother did it. My ex insisted that I put bleach in with the wash because that's what his mother did. He regretted that, because he had to wear tied-dyed undershorts until they wore out.

I never saw any of the Star Wars movies until two months or so ago. My boyfriend said it was very sad that I never watched them so we started watching them together. I've seen the first 3 (the ones made in the 70s) now. I was never interested because I'm not interested in sci-fi, but they're not as bas as I thought. Amusing is how I would describe them.

We don't have a washing machine on our boat and if we did our washing ourselves at the launderette it would take all day so we take it for a service wash. They wash it, dry it and fold it. They even pair our socks! We've never had a problem there before but it seems that a few people have had issues there, especially things being lost. So we'll go to the one around the corner instead. It's a little more expensive but it's better than stuff getting ruined/going missing. I've not bothered to make a complaint. The service wash cost £10 but that wouldn't cover the cost of the jumper even if they refunded that.
I had to go see Star Wars asap as I didn't want the plot to be spoiled by people on Facebook. I really enjoyed it. I was really exited this morning like a kid at Christmas. There are definitely some cheesy moments in all of the films Peggy, the ones in the 70s particularly. They showed a trailer for the next X-Men film which looks awesome.
It's pretty bleak here today. If feels like it hasn't even properly become daylight and now it's getting dark again. I know we're close to the longest day now.
We've got a Christmas meal tomorrow with my partners' family which should be nice. We're going out to a pub so no one has to cook.
Pleased to hear they know what's wrong with your grandfather Travis.

I do our laundry...we don't have much being just the 2 of us (3 if you count the dog, no clothes for him, just his blankets ;) ). I try to do one load a day, that way I'm not spending all weekend doing laundry :)
That is hot weather Rusalka! Is it humid where you are at?

My hubby and dog are napping. It is quite cute since they are both asleep on the couch ❤️

I need to wander down the hill, pick up presents, leftovers and car from Mum's from last night, then planning to hang out in front of the fan today with a book and lots of grog slush.
Benefit to the weather is that I do a load of laundry, hang it out and it's dry by the time the next ones done in an hour. Best time of year to do spring cleaning washing, but as long as you don't mind things getting sun bleached in the 60mins on the line.

This is hilarious - thanks Travis!

@Rusalka, I'm glad everything is coming back to normal.

I quite like that one too Peggy. My least favourites are 'Driving Home for Christmas' by Chris Rea and 'All I Want for Christmas' by Mariah Carey which are sadly the two that I have heard most often over the past couple of weeks. I really don't like them at all.

Nice family picture, Travis.

It is a great song. HD was such a good band; my favorites are Sad Sweetheart of the Rodeo, and Cream and Bastards Rise. I think they got a little more airplay out here because they're local guys.

I moan about christmas songs generally. But it would appear I pretty much know all the words to every one of them, even the ones that bug the hell out of me. It's doing my head in as I'll go in to a store and can't help myself from singing along (sometimes to myself sometimes out loud, although not too loud) and sometimes it is accompanied by a little jig. Nothing over the top mind. It's like I have christmas tourettes or like those games you play as a kid when the music comes on you sing and dance and then it stops and you have to stay still/lay down/find a chair. They also pipe the crimbo music into the toilets. I find that very disturbing indeed. It puts me off.
We went out for a lovely meal yesterday with my partners family. It was nice to see everyone. Came home last night feeling absolutely stuffed. Now back to vague normality for a few days before the big day.
It was our 1 year boat anniversary (or boataversary as Rusalka suggested) at the weekend. Hard to believe we've had it a year. We didn't take it for a cruise like we originally thought we would. Just did some work on it on Saturday and enjoyed some mulled wine in the evening.

It's the same here. When the sun doesn't come through all day feels like the end of the afternoon when it's almost getting dark again.

It was a very busy weekend around my house. We are redoing the mortgage on our house and are having to do some repairs before the appraisers come. The husband and I worked outside all day Saturday (which was FREEZING cold (to me anyway)) replacing rotten wood under the fascia that had been originally installed incorrectly. Thankfully none of the wood that supports the roof of our house was damaged due to the shoddy installation. Sunday was spent building the new laundry room. We already had the wall frames up, ceiling finished and lights installed. My husband finished running the plumbing and electrical for the washer and dryer and for a sink and toilet. We finished the walls Sunday and now have to figure out what we are doing for flooring. It is coming along quite nicely. I'm excited to finally have a laundry room after 5 years of lugging our dirty clothes to either my parents' house or my mother-in-law's house!

Also, there is absolutely nothing better than a laundry room in your house!
My son came home from college for winter break, with every piece of clothing he owns for me to wash, I don't think he does much laundry because as he says he has to walk upstairs downstairs walk back upstairs and then sometimes everything is in use, I told him welcome to the life of a college student!
He also joined a fraternity, so now he has learned iron is nice dress clothes, funny what it takes to get them to learn things like this, and high school he had to wear nice clothes on game days for baseball, but did he iron those???

Well I spent the day in the ER with my mom. Her blood pressure has been through the roof, which has made her really dizzy, and was giving her heart pain. Apparently this has been going on for about 3 days...the heart pain that is. I could throttle her sometimes. I'm really grateful though that she didn't have a heart attack, and also, that she didn't have a blood clot in her lungs, as one of the tests came out concerning. The CAT Scan ruled that out though. She's been hypertensive for about 40 years now, but recently it's become very hard to manage. I served her a bunch of veggies for dinner tonight and am going to be pushing her on her diet now. We told her that only one family member is allowed to be sick during Christmas, and that's Bernie this year, so she better just get better.
Also...it started snowing, so that was a fun drive home...I hate driving in the snow.
