Has anyone ever been to a Romance Genre Conference? I have never thought of going, but noticed that a fave author is going to be at one not too far from me in August.

Most are in the US which is bit far away...

message 362: by Wynifred (new)

Wynifred | 37 comments ok totally off topic but anyone use the goodreads app? I recently got it updated and I hate it!! it use to say the specific publish/release date of a book, but now it just says the year and there's no longer a section of "books like this" only books by same author. anyone know how to get those features back by any chance?

message 363: by Debby *BabyDee* (new)

Debby *BabyDee* | 812 comments I have the app but rarely use it because it isnt as user friendly as i'd like.

message 364: by Mariana (new)

Mariana | 2692 comments No, I completely deleted the app. I would rather use desktop site even on my phone.

message 365: by Jan (new)

Jan (jan130) | 2701 comments Yeah I don't like the app either. It's quite limited and IMO frustrating to use. I still have it on my phone but don't use it very often.

message 366: by Missy (last edited Jul 20, 2018 05:04PM) (new)

Missy | 1485 comments On my app, there's a "Readers Also Enjoyed" section below the "Other Books by this Author" section. If you're looking at a specific book, then scroll down to the bottom. My app gives the month and year the book was published if I swipe the book cover to the left or if I touch "Book Details," which is located in the middle right above the "Book Description" aka book synopsis.

The only thing I don't like about the app is that I can't edit my comments and sometimes it cuts part of other members' comments.

Exactly...I like to comment in a more friendly environment. Not like now..too hard.

Priya (priyachennareddy) | 1544 comments The only advantage I found in the app is adding books to our shelves. All we have to do is scan the barcode. But again, this is good only for people like me, who read more print books.

I even use another app when scanning in my books now. It downloads them to my good reads account. I think I just use the app for reviews while thrift store hunting.

message 370: by Leigh-Ayn (new)

Leigh-Ayn | 7 comments I haven’t updated my app yet and don’t plan to based on your comments! I prefer the desk top site but I’m always on my phone so just naturally use the app! Might have to switch to safari!

I use Book Catalogue when I want to scan a larger number of paper backs in. I tend to let my used /thrift store finds pile up, and I felt the scanner was a little better than the GR one.

I am a little behind times, but I just saw that author Julie Anne Long is among the many who lost her home in the California wildfires this month. For any in this group that may be affected by the fires, I hope you are safe and well.

I am so sad to hear that! I saw a tweet from her asking for prayer as she and her family fled the area. I live in CA about 70 miles away and the smoke is so bad we haven't been outside. Schools were closed because of the smoke. It's just so very sad.

I also wanted to share the live video Lisa Kleypas posted on her facebook account (with the help of her daughter), where she reads an excerpt from Devil's Daughter and answered a few questions from fans. She talks a little bit about the next book in the series: Cassandra and Tom Severin's!
