Awesome! Thanks :) I've already read Worth the Fall, but I think I'll just replace it with book 2 in that series.

Thanks for the great picks Carla-Collette! I will definitely be reading Beautiful Secret and Lessons in French this month. I'll most likely get to The Unidentified Redhead and maybe Lust. I've put The Love Shack and The Peach Keeper on my TBR and if I'm lucky I'll get to one of them before the month is out.

Thanks again!

Madison ✨ | 90 comments Hey LaurLa!
Thanks for narrowing down the shelf to make picks from…looking through all of your 6,000 TBR books was a little daunting (but definitely fun!) ☺ Hopefully you find something you enjoy, let me know if you would like any re-picks.

1. Vanilla—Please recommend a book found on a current popular list or a book you have loved and/or your friends have loved too and/or a book with a librarian/shy/innocent main character.

A Desperate Fortune by Susanna Kearsley (NEW) — this features a dual POV/time periods and the main character in the modern one has Asperger’s and is shy and reserved.

Rock Chick Regret by Kristen Ashley (TBR) — It’s the highest rated on your challenges-to-pick shelf and there is always a lot of hype around Ahsley’s books.

A Desperate Fortune by Susanna Kearsley Rock Chick Regret (Rock Chick, #7) by Kristen Ashley

2. Mint Chocolate Chip—Please recommend a book with a little sass/spiciness and/or a Cowboy romance.

Cherish by Catherine Anderson (NEW) — a cattle rancher counts as a cowboy right? ☺

The Prairie Prince by Marcia Lynn McClure (TBR) — the closest ‘cowboy’ book on your challenges-to-pick shelf.

Cherish by Catherine Anderson The Prairie Prince by Marcia Lynn McClure

3. Strawberry—Please recommend a book with a summery/beachy cover, a book set in the summer and/or a book with a chef/baker/food industry character.

Lost Lake by Sarah Addison Allen (NEW) — Allen is one of my favorite authors and this one takes place in the summer.

Truly by Ruthie Knox (TBR) — I recently stumbled across this book at the library and was pleasantly surprised at how much I enjoyed so I was really happy to see this on your TBR shelf. It features a girl who meets a chef in New York and some of the descriptions of the meals they eat had my mouth watering while reading ☺

Lost Lake by Sarah Addison Allen Truly (New York, #1) by Ruthie Knox

4. Pralines n Cream—Please recommend a book with a 'nutty' character, a light-hearted, humorous read and/or a book set in France.

Tangled by Emma Chase (NEW) — this book had me laughing throughout. It’s written in the hero’s perspective who is a cocky and unashamed womanizer but he is funny as hell!

Truce by R.L. Mathewson (TBR) — I haven’t read this one yet but I read the first one in the series (which was hilarious!) and loved it, hopefully this one is just as good.

Tangled (Tangled, #1) by Emma Chase Truce (Neighbor from Hell, #4) by R.L. Mathewson

Happy reading!
Kristin

Shelby (stang_lee) | 1977 comments Hey Nichole! Alright I finally got to sit down and work all these out for you. :)

1. Vanilla- The most popular ice cream flavor in the United States.
Queen of the Darkness (TBR) - One of my all time favorites.
Widdershins (TBR) - There's a reason this series is super popular. It's awesome. :)
Sinner's Gin (New) - Rhys' popularity is growing by leaps and bounds within the MM world. She's fantastic.
The Assassin's Blade (New) - While not necessary to read the first book in the series I feel like reading this prequel sets up everything and it's fantastic. :)

Queen of the Darkness (The Black Jewels, #3) by Anne Bishop Widdershins (Whyborne & Griffin, #1) by Jordan L. Hawk Sinner's Gin (Sinners, #1) by Rhys Ford The Assassin's Blade (Throne of Glass, #0.1-0.5) by Sarah J. Maas

2. Mint Chocolate Chip- This flavor is very popular in the Southwest U.S.
Demon from the Dark (TBR) - Her heroines usually have a little sass to them. :)
Born of Fire (TBR) - These two definitely has the sass/spiciness down. Assassins...yum. :)
A Little Bit Country (New) - For your new I think I'm going to go with two different sexy cowboy stories. :)
Texas Pride (New)

Demon from the Dark (Immortals After Dark, #10) by Kresley Cole Born of Fire (The League, #2) by Sherrilyn Kenyon A Little Bit Country by S.J. Frost Texas Pride by Kindle Alexander

3. Strawberry- Strawberries are best picked and ripest in Summer.
The Wanderer (TBR) - Looks like a beach to me. ;)
Dead Ever After (TBR) - Everything's in full bloom so I'm going to say summer. :D
Carry the Ocean (New) - Ok this book was super different, but sooooo incredible.
Dragonflight (New) - I love this series. It's one of my all time favorites and one I've gone back to again and again over the years.

The Wanderer (Thunder Point, #1) by Robyn Carr Dead Ever After (Sookie Stackhouse, #13) by Charlaine Harris Carry the Ocean (The Roosevelt, #1) by Heidi Cullinan Dragonflight (Pern, #1) by Anne McCaffrey

4. Pralines n Cream- This flavor is made with Praline nuts (which came from France)and caramel.
Nice Girls Don't Bite Their Neighbors (TBR) - The title already has me giggling.
Heaven, Texas (TBR) - I seem to remember a fair bit of humor in this series. :)
An Intrepid Trip to Love (New) - So adorable! I giggled through the whole thing.
The Morning Star (New) - There are epic levels of snark in this series. :)

Nice Girls Don't Bite Their Neighbors (Jane Jameson, #4) by Molly Harper Heaven, Texas (Chicago Stars, #2) by Susan Elizabeth Phillips An Intrepid Trip to Love (A Little Bite of Love #1) by Charlie Cochet The Morning Star (Shadow of the Templar, #1) by M. Chandler

BONUS- BUDDY READ-
A Court of Thorns and Roses - I would love to BR this with you. :) I wanted to get to it this month and it's doubtful at this point that it will happen. If you're interested let me know. I've discovered I really love Sarah J. Maas (I recommend the prequel of her other series to you up above. ;))

message 192: by Mai (new)

Mai | 362 comments Hi Raine,

I've read quite a bit of your picks for me so far:

4 - 4,5 stars:
Rocky Mountain Heat has been a pleasant surprise. I've read a novella by Vivian Arend before and didn't like it that much; I also am not really interested in cowboy romances. Therefore I was quite wary of this book, but since it was free on Amazon I thought I could give it a try. It turned out to be a really lovely, really smutty read, I definitely liked it :)
I devoured Kitty and the Dead Man's Hand, but that's to be expected; I'm a huge fan of the Kitty Norville novels. Kitty and I share pretty much the same sense of humor - as usual reading it has been delightful.

3-3,5 stars:
The Bride was pretty good, I'll definitely read more titles by Julie Garwood - I really don't know why I've hardly read anything by her before. Dreaming of You by Lisa Kleypas was a nice, solid, good read - not my favorite (which is hard to top) of her books, but I enjoyed it a lot.

2-2,5 stars
I wanted to like Seduction and Snacks by Tara Sivec and I did like the first half quite a bit, the other half not so much. Reunion with the baby daddy isn't a favorite trope of mine and writing humor is a tricky thing - you can't please/make laugh everyone.
Hot in Here was closer to three stars actually; it was indeed a steamy hot read, just the plot felt a little on the weak side occasionally.

Thank you for your great recs, I enjoy the variety of your picks and found at least four more books among them, which I want to read this month.

I have read two of your recommendations, What the Duke Desires (The Duke's Men, #1) by Sabrina Jeffries and The Grave Gourmet (Capucine Culinary Mystery, #1) by Alexander Campion . I enjoyed both, but LOVED the Duke one, and have already ordered the next one in that series! I have started Kneading to Die (Pawsitively Organic Mystery #1) by Liz Mugavero and it seems like it is going to be good also.
Of course, my book 'eyes' (or should that be 'ayes'?!) are always bigger than my reading time, but I am hoping to read at least three more from your list before the end of the month. You did an awesome job picking for me!!
Thank you!!
