Why Morpheus is Better than Jeb
Curlygirly wrote: "There is hope Alyssa and Morpheus could end up together! In the trylle trilogy by Amanda Hocking the main character ended up with the second love interest introduced. It is not common but the patte..."Well, the reason I think Alyssa will end up with Jeb is this-
Morpheus' redeemable qualities (other than appearance)-
Magic :3
A KINGDOM
He's pretty much Sebastian in the way that he's a hot magical butler
Believes in Alyssa
Loyal
Jeb's Redeeming Qualities (other than appearance-
Loyal
Can skate
Jeb is purposely made to be (and no offense to either character meant here) not as good as Morpheus. This proves Alyssa loves him more, as she is willing to literally leave a kingdom behind to be with him.
There's my theory on why she ends up with him...

Hmmm. You make a good argument.
And here are my thoughts to who she'll end up with and why: It is my goal and most precious hope to constantly surprise and intrigue my readers... ♥˘⌣˘♥ *bats eyes innocently*
Viva la book 3!
Do you hear the people sing?Singing the song of JebLyssMorph
It's the anthem of a people-
Crap I can't rhyme with that

Haha! No need to rhyme. That stands alone on pure awesomeness. ;)
If Splintered was Les Miserables, Alyssa would be Cosette and depending on your ship Jeb and Morpheus would be Marius and Eponine or vice versa lolI can totally see Alison as Fantine too
Harley wrote: "If Splintered was Les Miserables, Alyssa would be Cosette and depending on your ship Jeb and Morpheus would be Marius and Eponine or vice versa lolI can totally see Alison as Fantine too"
Haha! I never thought of that. Is true. I love Les Miserables!
1 he has wings 2 hes a Netherling
3 he wears eyeliner.
4 he pushes alyssa to be he best and strongest.
5 he can give her eternity
6 he has a great sense of humor
7 he would die for her.
I just finished Unhinged and my reasons for adoring Morpheous just went up. I didn't even know that was possible. But I adore that sad, snarky little moth man so much it hurts okay. (Also, while I still don't like him...at all, Jeb did gain some respect in my eyes in this book. So while I'll never, ever be Team Jeb, I do think that he honestly does care for Alyssa and he redeemed himself...ish in this book. So. *cough* There. I said it.) I CAN'T WAIT FOR THE NEXT BOOK LIKE WHY IS IT SO FAR AWAAAAY.
@A.J. Those are all beautiful reasons. Number 3 is my fave. Heh@Sophia So happy you enjoyed book 2! And you're so nice to say that about Jeb. It's okay for you to be 100% loyal to your mothman. I adore both those guys! <3 Oh, and I'm working hard on bk3! Promise!
agreed book three is killing me i thought waiting for book2 was bad enough i only hope theres happy mothling babies waiting in the wings of a year waiting as patient as a impatient person can wait. could not put myself in the shoes of authors or anyone with a deadline type job it would suck having so much pressure to deliver (mothling babies from a sexy moth man!!!!!!!) (hint hint) (free strong alyssa and sexy mysterious man beast who is hot hot hot together......hint hint hint) *cough cough morpheus * cough cough* hmm sorry bout that anywho im exciteddddd!!!!
Personally, I feel I like Morpheus because he's unconventionally attractive. I mean, if the guy behind you in geometry suddenly had moth wings and eyeliner, it wouldn't be the same, no?
Therefore, Morpheus is attractive because of the subtle physical notes like a slim, yet masculine figure or doll-like skin. It's unearthly, and unconventional.
My appreciation for Morpheus is more what comes out of his mouth, however-probably because guys aren't my thing lol-because Madam Howard, your dialogue for that boy is AMAZING.

Awww, *blushes* Thanks! I have to admit, sometimes he surprises even me. Weird, I know. But it's true. I'll be like, did he really just say that? ;) He's one of the most challenging characters I've ever written.

I like that you also have reasons besides those for looks. I like them. They're good reasons. They are a part of why I like Morpheus, to be sure.

He definitely is hard to pin down, isn't he?
Katie wrote: "Sophia wrote: "I just finished Unhinged and my reasons for adoring Morpheous just went up. I didn't even know that was possible. But I adore that sad, snarky little moth man so much it hurts okay. ..."It's almost hard to figure out who would be better for Alyssa because both of them DO love her - and it's obviously that she cares for both of them. And even though I love Moprh it's like "but wait, Jeb really loves her enough to die for her, and and Alyssa cares for him to but MORPH."
I think that no matter who she chooses I will feel an extreme amount of sympathy for the boy who is left behind - even if it is Jeb. (because that boy has gone through hell and back for Alyssa and even when he doubts her feelings for him he still risks his life for him. UGGGH.)
I'm partial to men who know when to fight for their woman so she doesn't have to and when to let her fight for herself. I fell in love with Jeb instantly because he is a tortured soul who has come so far and genuinely cares for his woman, but I can't deny that I am loyal to Morpheus.
Harley wrote: "If Splintered was Les Miserables, Alyssa would be Cosette and depending on your ship Jeb and Morpheus would be Marius and Eponine or vice versa lolI can totally see Alison as Fantine too"
Morpheus is now Eponine. You know she's hotter and can sing better (not to mention has a fabulous figure) but NOOO LET'S ALL JUST PICK THIS RANDOM PERSON WITH A REALLY HIGH PITCHED VOICE.
Also, anyone notice the butterfly *cough* MOTH *cough* on the gate when Cosette and Marius are singing?
Also, I just realized there are a couple thousand posts here I haven't read yet, so be prepared for a storm of comments, 'k?
...Or maybe just two. Anybody else notice both boys are almost absolutely equal except in how they express love for Alyssa? Also, I think we need to seriously consider the possibility that Morpheus is not wearing eyeliner, he just has FABULOUS eyes and his netherling skin is naturally purple-tinted around them. I mean, the jewels aren't piercings... Are they?
CRUD WHY DID I THINK OF THAT CRUD CRUD CRUD
NOW I NEED TO THROW UP IN A BASIN
Dahanci wrote: "...Or maybe just two. Anybody else notice both boys are almost absolutely equal except in how they express love for Alyssa? Also, I think we need to seriously consider the possibility that Morphe..."
Haha! NO, the jewels aren't piercings. It's part of him. As demonstrated by how they're connected to his moods and emotions. And he only wore eyeliner when (view spoiler). All of his otherworldly beauty (eye markings included) is natural. As much as anything in Wonderland can be "natural", that is. Unnatural might be a better adjective. *coughs*
@Dahanci So you ship Cosette and Eponine~? Interesting Yuri involvement XDRevision: Alyssa is Marius and depending on how you ship Morpheus and Jeb are Eponine and Cosette of vice versa
I actually love Amanda Seyfried AND Samantha Barks equally, they are some lovely ladies.

I guess I'm gender-swapping them all? IDK owo
Hello :) I'm new here so please bear with me. I'm trying to learn how to make a spoiler bracket. (view spoiler)
Woot! I did it! Okay. Well, I hope there's no word limit for posts coz I have a huge post about how Morpheus is WAAAAAY better than Jeb.
CONTAINS HEAPS OF SPOILERS FROM BOTH BOOKS. DON’T READ IF YOU HATE SPOILERS!! REPEAT: MEGA SPOILER ALERTHow is Morpheus superior to Jeb, you ask? Well, go grab some snacks, you could be reading this for a while….
For starters, allow me to point out Jeb’s flaws. They make Morph look good and we all know he’d enjoy kicking Jeb’s butt in any way possible. Not that I blame him. Morph, if you’re reading this, we all love you! (Yes, I’m crazy. But I’m a netherling. Can you blame me?)
Here goes. No offense Jeb, but I really can’t stand you. TEAM MORPHEUS FOR THE WIN!
(view spoiler)
*deep breath* Okay. I hope my fellow mothlings are fired up; coz there’s more where that came from. Now, what was I gonna say next?
Oh, yeah. Jeb’s flaws? Morpheus is only guilty of one of them. Why the heck would Morpheus want to get along with Jeb? But I notice that if Alyssa asks, Morpheus will at least try to be civil. He’s done that on several occasions. Jeb? Nope. His definition of civil is mostly glaring at Morph and calling him names. And people say Morpheus is the uncivil one. Tut tut.
Now, I notice many people say Morpheus can only accept Alyssa’s netherling side. He can’t accept her human side at all. Well, hate to burst your bubble, but that ain’t true.
(view spoiler)
Yes, Morph. Your mothlings see right through you. Actions speak louder than words.
Which brings me to another topic.
(view spoiler)
So… Morph = 6, Jeb = 1. And I haven’t even read The Moth in the Mirror yet! *sigh* I can’t find it on iTunes, but never mind that. Onwards!!
Deny it all you want Morpheus, we mothlings know you have a good heart underneath that bad boy act.
Speaking of which, are my fellow mothlings still awake? Or has my rant put you to sleep? Hahaha. Well, I’m nearly finished, so go grab more snacks. I’ll wait for you :)
…… Back again? Aw, you got me a moth cake? Thanks!
Well, where was I? *munches moth cake* Ah, yes!
Personally, I think Morpheus is better for Alyssa.
(view spoiler)
WAKE UP, ALYSSA!!
(view spoiler)
*deep breath* Well, that concludes my rant. *tips hat to Morpheus* We love you, Morph. Now go get Alyssa and bring her back to Wonderland!

I know this is a team Morpheus thread, but I'm Team Jebpheus, and I don't think you're being fair to Jeb.
(view spoiler)
And I like Morpheus too. Just a friendly reminder that you don't have to hate Jeb to like Morpheus.
Sarrie wrote: "CONTAINS HEAPS OF SPOILERS FROM BOTH BOOKS. DON’T READ IF YOU HATE SPOILERS!! REPEAT: MEGA SPOILER ALERTHow is Morpheus superior to Jeb, you ask?"
Sarrie, welcome to the boards. So happy you're here, and thank you so much for using spoiler brackets! You did a great job! I adore your loyal defense of Morpheus. <3
And *waves to Katie*, my fellow Jebpheus fan. ;)
BTW, if you ever want to hash out your love/hate for the guys, we also have a battlefield thread where the use of nerf swords and passionate arguments are expected and encouraged. Here's the link: https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...
Have fun on the threads! <3

Haha. It wasn't a slap on the wrist, promise. I just wanted to remind everyone that there's a fun place to be very vocal about your feelings. I thought you had some great arguments, too, BTW. :)

Yeah, I know :) And I know I'm not being fair to Jeb. As I said before, he does have his virtues. I just want to make Morph look better <3
Also, you had a few questions. Allow me to clarify.
How did he cheat on Taelor? Well, he hadn't broken up with her yet when he went to Wonderland and got with Al.
Betrayed the trust of Al's parents. Well, he helped Al go behind their backs to get a tattoo. He is partly responsible for that.
Yes, I know I'm being biased and obnoxious but I honestly can't stand Jeb. (Sorry Ms. Howard!!) And as I mentioned before, I'm a netherling, so of course some people are going to find me crazy :)

Cheers! I'll head over there now :) *readies nerf gun*
Sarrie wrote: "Yes, I know I'm being biased and obnoxious but I honestly can't stand Jeb. (Sorry Ms. Howard!!) And as I mentioned before, I'm a netherling, so of course some people are going to find me crazy :) "
LOL. No apologies necessary. Opinionated netherlings are always welcome here. ;)
I do have to defend Jeb on one note. He had already broken up w/Tae. It's on page 366 of Splintered. Taelor admits to Al that Jeb broke up with her before prom, which was before they jumped through the mirror. But, it's confusing I think, because (view spoiler) the reader isn't told that until the end. SO, that's my bad as the author for not giving it clarity earlier. ;) I take full responsibility!
Have fun in the battlefield! :)

I'll admit it was the alternate reality that had me confused. My opinion of Jeb is a little more positive now.
Shayla wrote: "Wow, that really touched me. It was so beautiful how he multiply gave up his life to save Alyssa. So beautiful..."Yeah, I agree.
1. He has awesome eye-patch swirly thingies2. He's so vulnerable
3. It's such a battle for him to do the right thing but he does it anyway and things go crazy after but he doesn't regret it
4. He builds up Alyssa - he helps her become herself - he allows her to blossom
5. He's so forthcoming and brutally honest
6. He always trusts her and never assumes the worst of her
7. He totally understands her more than herself (as opposed to Jeb)
8. He knows what to do to get her to try the hardest
9. He's willing to do anything for her EVEN when she always says she hates him
10. AND sometimes he even believes it but still loves her unconditionally
11. His love for her is totally unselfish
12. He loves the whole her and not just the parts he's comfortable with

Welcome to the boards, B. And your list is awesome! :)
Agreed, but @B: I wouldn't call Morpheus "vulnerable." He's a rather armoured character but anyone strong wouldn't be strong all the time, and that's why I don't think characters like Morpheus or Morpheus himself are vulnerable.
B wrote: "1. He has awesome eye-patch swirly thingies2. He's so vulnerable

While do agree with a lot of those points (I wouldn't be Team Jebpheus if I didn't like Morpheus) I wouldn't say he's always honest, because he has tricked her. Due to this, I wouldn't say hge always does the right thing either.

I think his deep love for Alyssa makes him really vulnerable because it affects him much, and she knows it.
Sarrie wrote: "Hehehe another reason Morph beats Jeb: Morpheus is being made into a plushie. Jeb ain't."Maybe someone should start. (Not me. I'd have no idea what to do.)
Woah hardcore Morpheus fans!!! I guess both are fine... [SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS??]. Except that Jeb will die and Morpheus will live like forever (correct me if I'm wrong). And in the book, it says that Morpheus just doesn't want to wait for Jeb to get old, he wants Alyssa to leave with him to Wonderland already and make her forget the human world. So pretty much, when all her friends and family die then she'll go to Wonderland maybe?? I don't know. I need to read the books again :P. So she CAN have both, just Morpheus wants her now. But she'll probs feel weird, having both and all. Oh well. Whoever understands, can you please explain further? I'm not very good at explaining things :/
@Hannah, you explained it perfectly! BTW, thank you so much for warning about the spoilers! ;) If you ever want to learn to use brackets (they're fun!) we have instructions here: https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...
Either way is great, though!

I agree, I've always thought of Morpheus more as an anti-hero than an antagonist. ;)
