Currently reading "Perks of Being a Wallflower" and also am in the middle of the Scott Pilgrim" series--really enjoying it.
Reading two books atm.Trying to slog my way through the complete works of Lovecraft, H.P. on the Kindle.
I've also got a Masterton Graham book on the go, too. Have just finished The Snowman and now reading The Terror.Snowman And The Terror
I started reading the web manhwa Orange Marmalade, which is going to get 5 STARS & I haven't finished it yet. It's the cutest thing I have read in years. I also started The Sweetness at the Bottom of the Pie, but haven't got past chapter one. But it's funny, which I like.Lastly, I finally got my birthday present - Dark Serpent. I cannot wait to read it, but first I have to finish the 2 above!
Hello everyone, I was hoping to find some reading recommendations. I'm looking for a book that is either fantasy or historical fiction. Something that'll consume me, with excellent writing. (But light?) I started 'Graceling', but read reviews that it was a book packed with feminist views? I thought it started out good, but I don't want to get sucked into a huge story with strong feminist overtones.
Help! :)
Nyree - I really enjoyed Graceling. I think if you liked the beginning, you'll like the rest of the book as well. I think the feminist views are not overwhelming. If you don't mind a spoiler, basically (view spoiler) Otherwise, she is just a strong female character. A lot of people take issue with the concept enclosed in the spoiler, but there is so much more to the story. For a recommendation: The Goodreads Choice Award winner last year for historical fiction was The Light Between Oceans. I have not read it yet, but have heard great reviews and have it on my TBR list.

I really like the feel of the book so far, it's very realistic and engaging.
I'll also look into the 'The light Between Oceans'. Thank you! :)

Editing, not reading.Just posted on my author page a blog I call CULTURE SHOCK. You know, the kind of thing you experience when you change countries, cultures and languages. Have a look and please leave a comment.
Best
I finished Fight Club and Mr. Penumbra's 24-Hour Bookstore, both five star books. Fight Club is a complex book with a misleading length. With 218 pages it looks like an easy read, but the writing style is quite difficult. Once I got used to it, I loved it. I knew about the plot twist, because I saw the movie first, but liked it nonetheless.Mr. Penumbra's 24-Hour Bookstore was a cute and quick read, which I needed after reading Fight Club. The characters were all very likable and and the mystery was interesting. The book refers to authors, books and modern technology, which makes it refreshing. It was quite geeky, but I like that (a lot).
Although these books are very different, I would recommend them both.
Right now I'm reading Speaker for the Dead, the second book in the Ender's Saga, and Mockingjay, so I can finally finish the Hunger Games series.
I gave up on The Mirror of the Soul - J. Lloyd Morgan and I've read and finished Lily and the Billionaire: Vol. 1 - Ana Vela. Now I am going back to Edge of Disaster - A.M. Hargrove.
Just finished
yesterday, this was a heavy book for me to read emotionally. Now I'm trying to find something lite to read.
hi !!! :)))) question is The Secret of the immortal Nicholas Flamel gooooood? i mean very goood???? like good good good???

ok thanks ... its on my to-read-list of the year hahaha XD
Devi wrote: "The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes just finished it and some of the cases are so so so breathtaking!"I have had it on my Kindle for a while now. Maybe I need to get to it.
Reading 11/22/63 by Stephen King. I wasn't sure if I'd like it at first but I do. It's good! A little too much detail about what costs what.
I've just finished Edge of Disaster - A.M. Hargrove. Now I am reading book 4 of The Guardians of Vesturon series ReEmergent - A.M. Hargrove.

I don't really know if it would be considered a western, but it's set in that beautiful country! Did you watch the show's first season? We loved it.
I'm currently reading the Artemis Fowl series. Some of my summer reading is dedicated to reading the books I "should have" read as a kid, but I was too busy reading Jane Austen and Charles Dickens to pick up any children's literature.
I am currently reading Subway Dancer and Other Stories by Catherine Ryan Hyde. It is a collection of short stories. They are nice a refreshing! You know how some short stories can feel a little convoluted and like the run in circles? Well these ones don't. I love the voice she used in the first two stories, it was like someone was just talking to you, not trying to impress you with fantastic language. Just a friend. I like that in my short stories!
I finished And Then There Were None, which I liked a lot, and Mockingjay, which was a bit disappointing to be honest. The ending of the book, and thus the trilogy, didn't give me enough closure. Currently I'm about halfway through Speaker for the Dead. It took me some time to get into the story, because it didn't start where Ender's Game ended, but right now I'm hooked.
Eighty Days: Nellie Bly and Elizabeth Bisland's History-Making Race Around the World
I am only 4 chapters in and it is wonderful.. I am sadden I did not know about these two women and what they did.. Nellie Bly is beyond words awesome. I also just finished Slaughterhouse-Five
I have to say having waited so long to read this was a mistake. It was a great story.
I am reading A Clash of Kings and Hopeless I am half way through Hopeless and I really like the characters in this story.

I didn't realize when I bought it that it was possibly a detective series. I'm not really into those books (I used to be) but this is very good and I look forward to going back to it so that is a good sign.
I just finished Blood Song by Anthony Ryan (book 1 of Raven's Shadow). It was pretty good, and I will read the second book when it comes out. I am now reading Unfettered, a short story collection by some of my favorite authors, the proceeds going to a great cause. Reading these stories is a little like visiting old friends, even reading the introduction was fun.
I have recently gone back to a genre I havnt read in some time but love, Historical fiction. I have been meaning to read The Other Boleyn Girl by Philippa Gregory for ages, but decided to start reading the series from the begining (although you do not need to). So I am currently reading The Constant Princess The Constant Princess
Just finished Through the Ever Night by Veronica Rossi & I very much recommend this series to anyone who enjoys YA sci-fi/dystopian books.Under the Never Sky Through the Ever Night and Into the Still Blue
Am currently reading Sisterland by Curtis Sittenfeld. Enjoy it. It's not a genre book, but keeps me turning the pages.

The Kindle Book Review describes it as "a perfect combination of romance and action.”
