Tati Well, I'm looking for volunteers to proofread my dissertation, though that may increase your boredom LOL

message 2753: by [deleted user] (new)

Anything to do is appreciated! I will gladly proofread it for you!

message 2754: by Tati (new)

Tati Really? I need to finish revising it, so many badly written paragraphs that I'm cringing

message 2755: by [deleted user] (new)

That's okay! Work on it as long as you have to and I'll take a look at it :)

message 2756: by Tati (new)

Tati Thanks!! I'm kinda worried, as English is not my first language.

Soon as I'm done, I'll PM you.

Abi (abi_gr) | 27659 comments The new Birmingham library opens on the 3rd of September, and i'm so excited.
The libraries in Birmingham are awful, especially the one closest to me.
This one is supposed to be the biggest one in Europe though, so i'm excited to go see what they've got.

Ooooh! That does sound exciting! Our library is pants too.

Abi (abi_gr) | 27659 comments Sarah wrote: "Ooooh! That does sound exciting! Our library is pants too."

Ours literally has about 4 little shelves of YA, most of them have all the pages ripped, or have really bad water damage. The ones that are okay, are trilogies where they only have the second one, and the rest are doubles.

So so bad.

message 2772: by Sarah Elizabeth (new)

Sarah Elizabeth (bookworm_sarah) | 90920 comments Mod
Our's is a bit like that. They've now started mixing the YA books in with the adult books though so it's a real hunt to find one. They also seem to have a thing about english authors, so trying to find a book by an american author seems to be difficult, unless you want to read Fallen (Fallen, #1) by Lauren Kate or Twilight (Twilight, #1) by Stephenie Meyer of course.

That's basically how my library is, minus the water damaged books. It's really sad how little libraries keep in the YA section! Give us the good books people!

I know the title and that it's the final book. I just checked out her website and she said she's going to release the first few sentences of the last book once Origin has 40 reviews on Amazon or B&N. Am I missing anything else?

World After (Penryn & the End of Days, #2) by Susan Ee

Not as pretty as Angelfall, but i love the color.

The colour is alright but otherwise it's a bit pants. Don't think I want to read it anyway.

I don't get why it's so over hyped to be honest, there's better apocalyptics out there.

I didn't like Daughter of smoke and bone either, which everyone seems to love.

I loved daughter of smoke and bone until the ~40% mark, then it took a total turn, completely confused me, and annoyed me no end. Why did things have to change? So annoying.

I got to about 60% and skimmed the rest.
I got it in hardcover for cheap, and it was a signed one, I feel like it was wasted on me, Haha.
I loved the hardcover version. It's simple but gorgeous.

I have it on kindle so at least it's not taking up space on my shelf!

message 2792: by Abi (new)

Abi (abi_gr) | 27659 comments I only paid £2.50 for it off Amazon, so it wasn't so bad. It is quite chunky though, so it does take a bit of space.
I really need to work out what books i don't want, and join that swap shop!

I don't get the hype on a number of books that a lot of other people seemed to like, but mine are different than yours. I didn't like Shatter Me (Shatter Me, #1) by Tahereh Mafi or Under the Never Sky (Under the Never Sky, #1) by Veronica Rossi . I just don't get why everyone likes them so much. I guess we all just have our own preferences :)

Shatter Me has a poetic kind of feel, but I hate poetry so it didn't work for me.

Under the Never Sky was very boring for me except for the very beginning and the very end.

You might like them though. I haven't met many people who feel the same as me about those two.

Sounds very mysterious.. Haha :)

I don;t know if i'm just getting really picky with books i like, but the books that have been really hyped this year, i haven't liked.
Angelfall / Daughter of smoke and bone / The 5th wave / Artical 5 / Seraphina
The only ones that has a lot of hype, that i loved this year was Unwind, and The darkest powers trilogy.

message 2800: by Mishma (new)

Mishma I am surprised that you didn't like Under the Never Sky,Jalyn.
