Current Stats:
Team Books Read/Goal* % of Goal % of 2,013
Team A 1632/6359 = 25.6% 81.0%
Team B 1737/6385 = 27.2% 86.2%
Team C 1755/6350 = 27.6% 87.1%
Team D 1536/6375 = 24.0% 76.3%
Goal totals adjusted, subtracting people who never signed up, or never posted a book.
If your Team is on track, it would be at 24.1% of Goal as of today.
Yes, but the Captains on Team B have been working at notifying their Team Members via PMs if they haven't remembered to "tag" their books... so Team B is gaining on us rapidly.
I just finished Definitely Dead which counts for number 3 I think it is. It has a picture of a tiger on the cover
I finished reading The Bell Jar
and Tales of Graceful Aging from the Planet Denial
.Both would probably go under #5 (strong women, not necessarily sane, but strong!).
Both books I rated as being 3 stars
I finished
(#5) and am trying to finish
but it's incredibly boring. I'm going to flip flop between that one and
.
I've started
and
today. I enjoyed the last H.P Mallory book I read so I'm looking forward to getting my teeth into that one. Not so sure about Breakers though, want to give it a go but 'plague' stories are sometimes a bit too realistic for me!
Lisa Kay I think the contest will continue into April. Maybe not all the through though. I have a few suggestions for mini challenge/s for however long we go that you ask for. April Fools (started in France) - humor, jokes, books about France or translated from French.
04/02/1805 B-Day Hans Christian Andersen Author of Fairy Tales
Tell A Lie Day - Stories about lies and cons.
National Fun at Work Day or Take a Playful attitude to Work.
No Housework Day - Character that doesn't do housework or is a slob.
All Over Again Day - Reread a book (it has to be over 6 months since you read it last)
04/10/1925 On this day F. Scott Fitzgerald published The Great Gatsby. Read the Great Gatsby or maybe any of Fitzgeral's books
Blue's Day - Stories about jazz or sad/depression, blue covers or covers with music on it.
Earth Day - Enviromental stories, covers with the earth on it or sences of a healthy earth on it or green covers. Or maybe something toxic looking
Tell a Story Day - a book you read out load to someone.
Poetry Reading Day - Book of poetry
Hairstylist Appreciation Day
Hairball Awareness Day - Books and Stories and covers with/about cats.
The month starts in Aries and ends in Taurus - Characters with those sun signs tendencies.
Oh, great, ★Gwendolyn★! Those are wonderful! However, can I have a volunteer to keep track of this challenge? I'm going to be very, very busy assigning people to Teams for Round II.
I would be willing to do so but only if I do a weekly update, mostly likely on Monday, as I do my challenges on Sunday, and at the end of the month or end of the challenge.
Almost done with Fahrenheit 451, and The life of PiCan Fahrenheit 451 go under time and Life of Pi go under Lion and Lamb?
Lisa Kay, if you would like, I can spend some time tomorrow PMing people about reminding people about tagging their books, because it is so easy to forget! While I can't promise that I can't check everybody's, I can definitely try to contact some people so that we can gain that bigger lead that we had. ;) Let me know if you'd like for me to do that, LK!Just finished up
and am almost done with
. =)
Aneeqah wrote: "Lisa Kay, if you would like, I can spend some time tomorrow PMing people about reminding people about tagging their books, because it is so easy to forget!"That would be great, Aneeqah! Use the hyperlinks from Post #3, as some people have scrolled off the page (indicated by ✔).
You might have to have two windows open, one showing Team C Challenge. There you can see at least some of the members who have less than 24.1% of their goal. I would start with them.
Personally, I would only
I don't know if you - or the captains - are going to PM anyone who hasn't posted any books lately. However, I certainly don't think we should bother anyone who is only a little bit behind.
Thanks!
Midu wrote: "Is that good? How many was I supposed to have read?"Well, if everyone was on track, they would be at 24.3%. According to your goal - which is high at 313 - you at 19%. So, that would be at approximately 75 books instead of 60, if you were on track.
I think it will help some, in the next round, when the page count requirement is lowered to > or = 160.
Finished
, definitely enjoyed it :) Starting a book which doesn't fit for this next and trying to finish off
I finished The Restorer
.Would probably fit in under #5 - Strong women ... if I saw ghosts and didn't have a complete mental breakdown, then I would think myself strong! :-)
I gave it 3 stars. It would have been 4 but you'll need to see my review to know why it dropped down one. It had some very good moments in it.
Cathie wrote: "Lisa Kay, what does rolled off my screen mean? (post 3)"Cathie,
On the challenge Home Page screen you can only view about 50 members for Team C's community (appearing below your friends).
If you go to Post #3 of Team C's thread, you'll see that there are actually 60 members for Team C. (Not counting the Mod account, which is on every Team.)
We didn't know this about this glitch, when we started this challenge: after 50 members, the earliest to sign into the challenge go to another page. However, there is NO way to click to that second page from the challenge Home Page; therefore, you HAVE TO use the hyperlinks in Post #3 to "view" their books tagged for this challenge.
Luckily, we were keeping track of that url. Well, we did loose one, but the member was kind enough to direct us to it. ☺
You'll note this at the bottom of Post #3:
✔ mean: rolled off my screen
✔✔ means: about to roll off
Hope wrote: "Can I count Fahrenheit 451 as part of the challenge for team C."Yes, Hope, I would say Clarisse McClellan is a strong female character (#5).

♥Robin's♥ March “C Us Win” Challenge
Duration: March 1st through 31st. Any book read since then counts!
1. Luck - All books with “luck” in the title, the series name, or a major theme, count.
2. Time - Time Change (since we do Spring forward an hour on March 10). So, Time
Travel books, or anything with a watch or clock on the cover, count.
3. Lion/Lamb: March is “in like a lion; out like a lamb.” We’ll count books with
an animal on cover, or one where an animal plays a pivotal role in the story-line.
4. Wind: March is usually windy so generally a good time to fly kites. All books with
bright colors, or diamond shapes, or is set in Chicago, (known as “The Windy City”)
will count.
5. Women’s History Month: All books with a strong female character as a Main
Character or is book about a notable woman in history, count.
6. The Girl Scouts: Founded in March, 1912. So, count books with a character that
bakes, cooks, works with girls, or otherwise deserves a badge. Even a book that
has food that you could make cookies with on cover, as they are known for their
cookies!
7. First & Third: March used to be the first month of the year! First in a series, or the
third, will count.
8. Hylad Monath/Hraed Month: The Anglo Saxons used to call March by this
name, which means “stormy month” and “rugged month,” respectively. All books
with stormy/rainy weather on the cover or “rugged” man **sigh** count.
9. Summer Ending/Spring Coming: Some of us are experiencing the End of
Summer (Australia), some seeing the Coming of Spring (America). So, any titles with
“Summer” or “Spring” in them - or any covers that depict signs of them, count.
