A Woman in the Crossfire: Diaries of the Syrian Revolution by Samar YazbekA bit confusing but there are footnotes. The stream of consciousness can be confusing as well but given what the author has seen and heard, had it been me, I think I would be a blabbering idiot unable to put two sentences together. Bravo for her courage and her efforts to face the demons to write about the truth of the horrific atrocities of the Assad regime.

Many apologies, I was mistaken, Nabokov does not qualify for non-western.
Thanks Kate! For those wondering why:Nabokov was born in Russia, but emigrated when 20-21, lived in England, Berlin, the US (where he became a citizen), and Switzerland.
Since his citizenship & most of his life was spent in Western countries, he does not qualify for the non-Western bonus.

I thought I was turning this in for the Not a Random Penguin task, as it was published by Harlequin. I turned in Is Everyone Hanging Out Without Me? as the pronoun task... sorry if I crossed wires somewhere!

You haven't crossed any wires. You have claimed (and been awarded points) for 10.9 - Not a Random Penguin for My Secret Life.
What is fun and unique about RwS is that if you read a book that qualifies for more than one task, you receive +5 combo points for each additional task the book fits. See Cory's post for Pride and Prejudice: http://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/1...
Our members are pretty good at helping to spot points others missed, which is what Rebekah & Kate were discussing -- Rebekah (mistakenly) thought your book also fit another task & was reminding you (and the scorekeepers) to add the missed points.
Also, unless otherwise stated, you can complete tasks as many times as you wish.
Ah, I missed Rebekah's post completely! It's awesome that everyone helps each other catch missed points. Sorry to pile on confusion, and thanks for the explanation!

Thanks for spotting those additional points. I've updated my private spreadsheet accordingly.
I think that now there is a small mistake in the stats for Group Reads Leaders. It seems as though the Nabokov books is still counted in that score (it shows me as having read two non-western books but without Nabokov I should only have one).

The thing is always to be suspicious of a January 1 date. Sometimes the GR database defaults that way. So I went to the Amazon page for this Kindle edition, and discovered they are saying the original publication date for this collection is July 12, 2011.
Also, usually we look at the original publication dates of the individual items in the collection. We won't this time because it is a moot point, but all of you might keep that in mind if you're looking at collections.
