I just came across this challenge and it sounds like a lot of fun and a good chance to take a look at books I normally don't read. I am aware that this may have been asked before but I don't really want to read through 62 pages of comments :) Do I need to post the books I intend to read or can I provide a summary at the end of the challenge. Thanks in advanced!

I am actually using that ILL, (or them just buying the book) to read Jon's task. My library is painfully small, and they don't have a very large selection. But, they are really good about finding a way to get the book if you request it! I hope they get it for you soon!!

You can do it either way. You can post the full list of what you intend to read once, every time you get more points, or never. You can post only the book you just finished, or a running total of which ones are done. Anyway you want to do it is fine, as long as you specify which book is being read for which task, and the point value of it!
Hope that helps!

If you haven't seen the board there should be one on the last page or so.
Most people either post the entire list or the task they most recently finished and their total points. That way people can see and talk about books and Cynthia can keep track of the points.
I think the general thinking is do whatever is easier for you!

Most of us are posting as we complete a book, along with the task for which we read it. I, for one, have added several books to my Wish List this way, and would love to know about the ones you've read and whether you liked them. And at least daily, sometimes more frequently, Cynthia posts our progress.
Rebecca- a lot of us have been keeping a copy of out own challenges in the 'my writing' part of our pages. That way it's always easy to find and you don't have to scroll through all those pages to find your latest list. It also makes it very easy to copy and paste.

Thanks for the quick response and the welcome. I'll have to think about how I want to approach my postings. I am a person who does judge a book by its cover and I usually play it by ear a lot of the time as to what I'm going to read next. I do know that at least two of the books I've read this month already give me some points. Off to finish up a few more!

I am again changing my list and adding to it. This challenge is seriously addicting.
I am again changing my list and adding to it. This challenge is seriously addicting. I am moving Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone to the Audio challenge (5.7) and replace it with Poison Study as a fantasy (5.1)
I am adding Geography of Bliss: One Grumps Search for the Happiest Place on Earth as task 25.9. I already finished it (I had book club about it last night.)
And I am adding A Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy as the comedy for task 5.8 and Brave New World to the interview challenge as I found an interesting interview with Aldous Huxley posted online.
So- here is my new list, with changes italicized:

(That's another reason having the challenge on your profile page is very easy.) A lot of people make changes all the time like the post in between this and your last one.
You just have to remember to post about a change if it affects your total points. Like if you used a book for a 5 pt. task and then, after reading it and claimning the pts., changed it to fit a 25 pt. task. Then you'd have to post so Cynthia knows what happened. Hope this helps! :)
Eva, that's a great idea! I actually created a word document on my flashdrive, but if it were attached to the site.. all the better!

Kristen wrote: "Eva, that's a great idea! I actually created a word document on my flashdrive, but if it were attached to the site.. all the better!"I'm glad you like it! :) It's so much easier, especially when you're updating this thread with the new info. Plus, I've found that a lot of my friends who aren't doing the challenge like to see the updates and check out what I'm doing.
I even have my own personal 2009 A-Z challenge there too because you can have more than one "story".
Something funny happened a few weeks ago- I noticed a comment from a girl I didn't know and she commented me something about my "story" being "great" and could I "please read hers". I got such a kick out of the fact that she didn't even stop to see that my so called story wasn't much of a story at all. I went to her page and she was leaving this same comment for everyone though. LOL
Elizabeth - go to your home page on goodreads. Above the profile in the box at the top, ther is a edit profile link. When you edit it, just change your first name, and that's what will show when you make comments.

I'm listening to Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire on my iPod right now. I've been cleaning the house; it's a good way to "read" when I normally wouldn't be able to.

I just finished Drums, Girls and Dangerous Pie by Jordan Sonnenblick for 5 point task #6--book with girl in the title.
I just finished Drums, Girls and Dangerous Pie by Jordan Sonnenblick for 5 point task #6--book with girl in the title. This was a great book. The narrator is a thirteen year old boy and his four year old brother gets cancer. (so I guess it would work for people who are still trying to do the stars challenge) I felt like the author did a really good job capturing the voice of both the thirteen year old and the four year old. I cried through most of it--thinking of my own daughter who is almost four--I could completely imagine her saying many of the things in the book.
I would recommend the book it's a quick read--I read it in one day and a touching story (it would also work for the YA challenge)
That puts me at 95 points. (I can't remember exactly how many tasks or pages; I'll have to update those when I'm back on my own computer.)
Sorry, I got my books mixed up. I read the hiding Place not Tramp for the Lord. I also read Eat, Pray, Love: One Woman's Search for Everything Across Italy, India and Indonesia for Sara's task for 25 points. I kept trying to figure out which task this book would work for until I was looking at the book and realized the whole title. LOL

     Cynthia,
Cynthia,I'm new to this group and am so excited for these challenges. I just want to make sure I understand completely so I have a couple questions for you.
1. Can you read the challenges in any order?
2. Do I post my goal list and progress here?
ok, that's all for now. thanks :)
 Jon,
Jon,Actually, I say "root!" I think that may depend on the region of the States. You do have a point generally, though - maybe those who pronounce things so that they rhyme in their accent could explain that to Cynthia and get a pass. I say some funny things, like oil rhymes with bull, but I know it doesn't *technically* rhyme, hehe. If it rhymes in RP I'd think you're golden.

You can read in whatever order you want and you only have to post your tasks and total points here as you finish if you want to be included on the leaderboard.
Any order, and anything that you've read since March 1st counts, Lacy.
