Update for Jessica: 6/21 The Every Year Challenge 1993-2013
2004 Pride and Prescience: Or, A Truth Universally Acknowledged (2/2)
2005 Never Let Me Go (2/4)
2007 Austenland (1/20)
2009 Jane Bites Back (1/21)
2011: Divergent (1/11)
2012: Gone Girl (1/1)
Just finished my pick for 1991 - "Women of the Silk" by Gail Tsukiyama. My rating is actually 3.5 stars. The book was well-done and simply written with good descriptions, however I felt like there was little in the way of character development. There seemed to be a very stoic approach to the story. Well-done but not fabulous.6/31

If I have missed any of your updates, please let me know. If you are keeping up in your "Member's Corner" thread, may I please ask that you update here periodically also? You don't have to list all of your books...just numbers. It would make it sooo easier than having to go back and forth. Thanks a bunch! :)

Gaijinmama wrote: "Actually I wanted to ask.I know it's possible to search here on GR for books by year of publication. How do I do that? (sorry, technology immigrant here!)"
Not sure how to do that, sorry, but if you want to start with the most popular books in a given year, this might help:
http://www.goodreads.com/book/popular...
You can replace the "2012" in the URL with another year, or select the desired year in the drop-down menu on the right side of the page.
I usually go look at the books on my to- read shelf. I put tons of books on my TBR shelf that finding a book for a specific year becomes as simple as sorted by publication date,
I'm at 5/18: 2005: The Lightning Thief
2006: The Sea of Monsters
2008: The Knife of Never Letting Go
2011: The Girl Who Circumnavigated Fairyland in a Ship of her own Making
2012: Mr Penumbra's 24 Hour Bookstore
if you want to start with the most popular books in a given year, this might help:http://www.goodreads.com/book/popular...
You can replace the "2012" in the URL with another year, or select the desired year in the drop-down menu on the right side of the page.
It worked, thank you! I just put in 1967 (my birth year, yeah I am an OOOOLD lady!) and got a whole list of possibilities.

Gaijinmama, I think Nik has it correct. This is how I search. If I find another way though, I will let you know. :)

It might be cluttered, but somehow it is easier for me to keep track of everyone's progress.
I guess you could say I like clutter, lol!

I love your list, Lisa! A lot of those are books I love or ones I want to read too. I'm reading The Reader right now :-)
Thanks Kaitlin! I made the list by going through all the years and picking those that have been on my eternal TBR list, if there were any in that year. Usually, I think challenges are good to read new books or authors you normally wouldn't have read, but I think this challenge is perfect for getting me to finally add some checkmarks on that TBR list :) What do you think of The Reader so far? I really need to read that one, I am German after all :)

I just got to the part about the trial, which I thought would be central to the book, but it doesn't come in until more than halfway through.
Let me know what you think as you go through your list!

Me too! I have lots of those books on my to-read list and I'm reading "the God Delusion" for the year 2006 just now :D

Right? I've been around Goodreads for a while, but never really got involved in the community until now, and this is one of my first challenges, too. I'm really enjoying it! I think I like the yearly challenges the most; I'm finding that the quarterly challenges are just a bit too stressful for me since I don't love racing my way through books. Anyway, welcome and have fun! =)
Julie wrote: "Just finished Memoirs of a Geisha. 5 stars. I am now 6/23 complete for this challenge."One of my favs! Congrats on being more than a quarter of the way through the challenge!

Just completed my selection for 2002 - "The Art of Hearing Heartbeats" by Jan-Philipp Sendker. I appreciated this book for the concepts it contained and it's different view of the world. The writing was good and discussed a part of the world with which I am unfamiliar. However, I did feel like it dragged in certain parts. I have a feeling I will be thinking about this book for several days. Overall, well done and recommend. 4 stars.7/31

I decided to join this. I don't know how many I will be able to do. I kind of went off of the books I have set to read this year. I had to add a few more though. I was born in 1984 but I thought that was too much of a task for me. So in honor of my 10 year class reunion this year, Im gonna start with the year 2003. My list will be on My reading corner
No worries! I hope to get everyone added and updated tomorrow. I haven't forgotten you. Good job! It looks like everyone is completing this one awesomely! :)
