2:45PM so glad we got everything done early enough today so now I can relax with my book. Got back home around noon and that was great. Then had to make my hummus and salads. Just nice to have them ahead of time and just dump in a bowl. After lunch I did my 9 minute mission. I really wanna do out 13 mile bike ride this evening, we will see I guess if we can get to it. Hub is napping at the moment and I am about to dig into my book before I have to start dinner. YAY!

Veronica HAPPY ANNIVERSARY!!! Enjoy your day when it comes!

Chris (cbrunner11) | 674 comments 4:19PM I have been so busy today that I'm behind in all the going ons with all of you. I'll try to catch up, but I want to say that it is nice to see Terri and Cindy back. I have four days off of work and I'm so excited to catch up on everything. I've been so busy with my blog and reading challenges coming up that I haven't been around GR much. I'll try to be more present.

Terri, hope you are feeling better, I know what it's like to be down for no particular reason and not be able to come out of it. Let me know if you want someone to talk to I'm here. I do hope by now things are looking up for you.

Cindy, I haven't read Swan Song yet, but I've heard it is amazing. I've got to try to get it soon. So glad to see you posting again.

Veronica Happy Anniversary. Have a wonderful evening.

6:53 p.m. and I have to be at work in the morning at 4:30 a.m. Started reading Saint today and will probably have a lot of time at work to make progress in the morning. Sorry I won't be online much tonight. Must get some sleep.

6:14PM Just had dinner, Pork chops, rice and fresh green beans. YUM the family appreciated it. Gonna be doing a work out soon and still debating on whether or not we wanna do the 13 mile bike ride we have been talking about. I would love it, but my son rides his bike daily to work, so not sure he wants to.

I have not gotten to read as much as I first thought I would be able to. Go figure right? My day seems to have been non stop today between preparing food, cleaning and working out. LOL

Chris enjoy your 4 days! YAY! Good to see you posting. Did you give me your blog site address?

Chris (cbrunner11) | 674 comments 7:58PM I plan on enjoying my time. Today we decided to have a family day. We went out to the mall to wander a bit then out to lunch. Had to run and get a few groceries. Then we all watched a movie at home. It was a great day. Now the kids are sleeping (or should be soon) and we are watching a movie while my wife sews.

Janie I don't think I ever gave anyone my site address. My blog is at brunnersbookshelf.blogspot.com.I'm really new at this but very excited when I figure something out for myself.

I totally understand how you feel Chris. I am a self taught website designer, and always felt so accomplished when I learned something new, but now I feel so outdated so many new things to learn and I don't have the energy to learn it. So I just set up a blog too which is pretty straightforward for me. But I enjoy having it.

That's great Janie. I am loving blogging. I already did the reviews here but I get to be more creative with my posts and it gets me out there a bit more. I have checked out your blog and I like how you have it set up. I'm a member but don't show up in your newest members section.

2:11AM WOW It is late! I need to get my happy butt to bed. Been a little busy this evening and lost track of time!

Chris it had to do with completing your profile or something to that effect. Who knows. I am so tired of that site that I started a new blog and will do away with webs.com my new blog is http://bookwormsbuddy.weebly.com It is so much better than my blog at webs and it offers the same stuff except for allowing members and it does not have the forum. But I have my group here so that is good enough for me. This place has a ton of templates to choose from and everything is drag and drop and then typing. I can add videos, images whatever. So it will be great I think. I have gotten a lot done so far. I am happy. And if I continue to like it then I may upgrade to paid. I need to get to bed now lol.

Kathryn (kcanty313) | 1870 comments 9:36 AM. Good morning, GR! We are here getting Mark's haircut. I forgot my book so I am checking in on GR. I'm not sure what all we have planned for today. We are thinking of going to the Rangers game tonight, but we're trying to decide if we feel up to it. No kayaking this weekend because it is the Labor Day weekend, and there are always too many drunks on boats, which is dangerous for us. Happy Saturday!!

11:13am EDT. Enjoying a leisurely Sat with hub, puppy, and some excellent coffee. Plan a major library haul today--I'm desperate for new stuff to read! Planning on caprese salad for dinner--juicy ripe tomatoes layered with fresh mozzarella, basil chiffonade, some slices of thin prosciutto, covered with balsamic vinegar along with some garlic French bread. Yum! A delicious meal and essentially no clean-up!

Chris--enjoy your 4 days off! Have an awesome time with your family!

Kathryn--I'm addicted to PR! I thought it was so interesting when Sandro lost his cool and walked off throwing things and generally throwing a hissy fit. He deserved to be gone. I too like Kate a lot. Ken really gets to me with his superior attitude and general disdain for the other designers.

Janie, how are the pumpkins growing?

Have a great Saturday all my GR friends!

1:52PM Been working on the new site/blog today and it has taken a huge chunk of reading away from me, but as soon as I finish my book lists I will read. Just finished a 9 min mission, now gonna get in the shower, then work some more on my blog and then read. Hub went over to his sisters, Son is working all Day and Kay is still recuperating from illness. Her throat has stopped hurting, now she has the coughs.

Terri, we only have one pumpkin that seems to be thriving, all the others that started pretty much died and we don't know why. I have watered like I am supposed to, they are not sitting in water, there are plenty of bees for pollination, so I don't know, and I am tired of guessing. I will not be doing this for next year.

Katy (katyas-69) | 1731 comments 5:46 p.m. EDT Hi, all. Veronica, a belated happy anniversary! Yesterday at Dragon Con was amazing! Had a great time, but I wore myself out and the cats wouldn't let me sleep, so I had to stay home today. Hoping hubby and friend had lots of fun today! I had my picture taken with A.J. Scudiere and she signed her newest book for me, so yay! Also met James Tuck; he's cool. Saw a panel with the Cruxshadows, but not sure if I'll be able to go to their concert, which is 1:30 a.m. EDT on Monday ... O.o I have a whole new perspective now after dealing with being in a wheelchair all day. Was amazed alternately by the kindness of people who held doors and helped me go through packs of people to get on the elevator, and then by the rudeness of people who would walk on the smooth part of the sidewalk, leaving us the option of trying to knock through the dirt around the trees or have to wait several minutes for them to clear the space so we could move, or standing in front of me at crosswalks so I was left to have to wait for the next light, or stopping right inside the door so we would practically collide with them, or act like they didn't see me waiting, etc. Very annoying trying to navigate through crowds! Was also amused by the Papa John's guy who found a great spot where people were walking past him all day and selling pizzas for $6 to them after the smell of the pizza would drive them into a feeding frenzy, and the religious guy standing at the corner yelling at the crowd about how we were all going to hell (I started to yell about Cthulhu until my husband yelled at me to shut up... *laugh*). Anyway, we'll be back there tomorrow. Monday will be my day to haunt the exhibits hall and buy my T-shirts and such - there are some really cool DS9 shirts I desperately want, and I also want to sit by the books area and hopefully meet a few more authors, plus have a few more minutes to chat with A.J. and her publisher, who is a really cool lady. So, I spent today sleeping and resting up for the next two days... :-) Hope everyone is doing well; there were a lot of posts, so I just skimmed. My apologies if I missed anything important!

Chris (cbrunner11) | 674 comments 11:10PM Had a great day today. My wife and baby girl feel asleep on the living room floor this afternoon and my son was coloring so I got to read. This is a rare occasion but it was so quiet and nice. About to feed baby girl and my wife is baking pumpkin bread. It smells amazing and I can't wait for a late night snack before bed. I know I shouldn't, but it is so good. Pumpkin baking season has begun and my wife is amazing at baking.

Kathryn (kcanty313) | 1870 comments 11:27 PM. Just washed my face, brushed my teeth, moisturized my face, and now I'm in bed hoping to squeeze in a few pages of a short book I'm reading. I needed a short distraction from AGOT. My dad came over for dinner: steaks, pasta salad, and asparagus. It was delicious. We decided not to go to the game since my dad is going back out to another oil rig in the morning. :( We didn't do too much today, but the day seemed to go quickly. We watched my Texas Rangers win, and it was a nail-biter of a game. Hoping we get up and go enjoy the day, but it will have to be early because of the heat. Giz is snuggled up with me, so it's goodnight, GR....

Terri, Ken is such a sore loser. His attitude is nasty. Makes me want to root against him!

message 6220: by Katy (new)

Katy (katyas-69) | 1731 comments 7:04 a.m. EDT Just about to dress to head to Dragon Con for the day. The cats howled all night again, so I'm running too close to empty for my tastes... *sigh* Still, most of the panels we wanted to see today are in the same hotel, so we shouldn't have to run around as much as we did on Friday, but two of them are not, and they're both as far away from the other hotel as they can be and still be part of the 'con. *sigh* Hope everyone has a great day!

10:37AM Just finished Dead City, book 1 of the Zombie D.O.A series, and it was a great read. I enjoyed and will be getting book 2 this week. So we drained the pool, sad day and we will be going to clean it up make sure there was no damage and then pack it away for another year. Next year we will be having a salt water system, and start earlier on the ground leveling and get this done right.

Cindy really happy to hear you have a couple of days for relaxation! That is always so nice! Enjoy your reading!

Chris how was your pumpkin bread? I don't really care much for pumpkin stuff but the hub does.

Kathryn I am getting uber excited about our meet up coming this week! I also agree with needing to have another book to skip too while reading AGOT. I have 2 other books to skip too. LOL

I shouldn't even talk about it Kathryn. LOL. No matter how many times I vow to read one at a time, it never fails and I attempt several when I don't have the time. Just finished Swan Song a day or so ago and now I'm reading Saint, Devil's Knot: The True Story of the West Memphis Three, Roadrage, and And On The Sixth Day. Had to abandon a couple for now and I'm getting ready to start John Dies at the End.

Kathryn (kcanty313) | 1870 comments 1:00 PM. Mark and I just got back from a 3 mile walk at the nature preserve. It made me so happy he went with me. Not sure what else we are going to do today, but I am going to try to finish this Selby book I'm reading.

Janie, I am so excited, too! Just a few more days! It's kind of weird. When I sit down and read AGOT, I really get into it. But, it's just not moving fast enough, and it's making me feel behind on my challenge, even though I'm not behind....it's weird. Lol

7:42 p.m. and I guess the excitement is over for now. Was sitting here reading and kept hearing a helicopter flying over. Finally went outside to see what was going on and there were six cop cars a couple of buildings over plus the helicopter flying over. After about 20 minutes another cop car arrives with a dog. I hate living here with a passion! This happens almost every day. Oh well, enough fussing. Gonna try to read again for a couple of hours.

10:47PM Did got get the chance for our little bikathon because it started raining, so that was disappointing. So we will try again another day. The weather has been pretty suffocating lately, was 103 today. What the heck? We got the pool drained and cleaned up and ready to store. Next year we will get out salt water system and won't have to take it down ever again.

"I have finally succumbed to the boredom of the book." (A personal quote) Sorry guys I just could not go any further in AGOT and I am afraid I have to abandon the book. I tried to like it, I really did, but after 300 pages you would think if I were gonna like the book I would have grown fond of it by now. I just can't do it. There were some memorable parts, but very few for me, not enough for me to persevere through the book. With that said, I have been enjoying The stand this evening. I will start the Passage as soon as my book arrives.

message 6244: by Chris (new)
