Kath Middleton | 23860 comments Hey, I'm a sucker for all that whizzy, moving pages stuff! Well done!

Tim | 8539 comments Just finished re-reading Mockingjay. I may have said it before, but Collins is a master (mistress?) of the art of writing a hard and brutal third act. I know I'm a big softie, but even the second time through, I couldn't read the last couple of chapters more than a page at a time. Awesome writing, and upgraded my original rating to 5*.

I really don't know how they're going to turn it into a 12A rated movie though.

David Staniforth (davidstaniforth) | 7935 comments Nice site Tim; I have so much to learn. Love the book title style you settled on.

message 354: by Andrew (new)

Andrew Barrett | 1537 comments Ah, that's why your site looks so damned good then! Ahaha, wonderful stuff. But like Kath says, I can take no credit, all I did during the construction was nod my head or frown.

D.D. Chant (DDChant) | 7663 comments Verrrrrrrrry nice Tim!

I'm a little jealous... okay fine: I'm very jealous! ;-P

Tim | 8539 comments Books 2 and 3 I'm planning as a back-to-back. With book 1, I knew where I wanted to go and how to get there, but I didn't pay too much attention to what would follow - the "fall out" could sort itself out, if you see what I mean. I don't think I can do that with 2 and 3. Which is not to say they'll be one long book split down the middle, but at the start of book 2 I'll know the end of book 3...

Wait... you mean that isn't how everyone plans their books???

I didn't even know what book 3 in the Broken City series was going to be about until today!!! Just that there had to be a book 3!!!

message 358: by Tim (new) - added it

Tim | 8539 comments I have no idea how other people plan trilogies... (I'm making it up as I go along) But somehow I feel that since the third book has a title, it ought to have a plot!

Also I kind of like the idea that just as each book has a three-act structure, so too does the trilogy...

Tim | 8539 comments I think I've created one of those fancy Facebook pages. http://www.facebook.com/pages/Tim-Arn... All in the name of the great god, publiticee publisity pub. Mmmm, beer...

Go over there and 'Like' it, or whatever :)

message 360: by Kath (new) - rated it 5 stars

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments Don't 'do' facebook. It won't let me like it (but I do!)

message 361: by Tim (new) - added it

Tim | 8539 comments Aww, you should... it's as big a time waster as Goodreads!

message 362: by Kath (new) - rated it 5 stars

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments I used to be. I defaced myself! I'd never read if I spent time there 'liking' all you lot!

message 363: by Tim (new) - added it

Tim | 8539 comments In that case, don't join!!!!

message 364: by D.D. Chant (new)

D.D. Chant (DDChant) | 7663 comments I've 'liked', Tim! ;-)

message 366: by Andrew (new)

Andrew Barrett | 1537 comments I 'liked' it.

I'm okay with facebook but I'm really naff at twitter!

message 368: by Andrew (new)

Andrew Barrett | 1537 comments You've done well with FB, Tim. You already have 17 likes (whatever they are). I've been going on it for a month or two and am still stuck at 20. See, I'm no good at publicising either mate.

Tim | 8539 comments Yeah, but Rosen has 380...

And Neal Stephenson (author of Reamde) has over 42,000...!

message 370: by Andrew (new)

Andrew Barrett | 1537 comments Wow, he must be really popliar :P

Rosemary (grooving with the Picts) (nosemanny) | 8590 comments I just liked you both :) I think. Don't really do feacbook

message 372: by Tim (new) - added it

Tim | 8539 comments Yay! Hit the big 2-0!!! Another 10 likes and i can get "Insights" (whatever that is). Another 361 and I beat Rosen (not gunning for Rosen particularly, but she is one of the more prominent people here social media-wise) Another 42,175 likes and I beat Neal Stephenson. Which at this rate will take about 6 years (assuming he never gets another like...)

message 373: by Andrew (new)

Andrew Barrett | 1537 comments Cheers Rosemary! I need another 9 likes Tim, hehe.
I wonder what's on the other side of 30?

message 374: by David (new)

David Staniforth (davidstaniforth) | 7935 comments I just tried to give you another like Tim, but apparently you have to join, so I'll do it another time. Meanwhile I'll get the two daughters to press the button: 42,173 to go.

For Wanted? Are you ever going to finish this book? *desperate wide-eyed stare*

message 380: by Tim (new) - added it

Tim | 8539 comments It's tying off a loose end; nothing major, but it fixes a plot hole. :)

Bad Tim! I just get started on the last draft you sent only to find out you've changed it again!!! ;-P

message 382: by Kath (new) - rated it 5 stars

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments Do you think you'll ever finish it? Really? You're a heck of a tweaker! ;)

Tim | 8539 comments This is the thing with the radio - I already told you about it, Kath ;) But this is the last thing I'm going to change, apart from fixing things that get pointed out by beta readers... Honest.

Tim | 8539 comments Bullied in me own thread :(

message 391: by Kath (new) - rated it 5 stars

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments You look well on it!

message 392: by David (new)

David Staniforth (davidstaniforth) | 7935 comments Nothing wrong with a bit of bullying Tim; I've been thriving on it for years :~/

message 393: by Tim (new) - added it

Tim | 8539 comments Good progress with the planning of book 2 (Hunted -- glad I swapped the titles around.) The major story points are all pencilled in: who or what is being hunted, how, why and by whom, etc., which characters from book 1 are carried across, how it ends and so on. You're going to be biting your kindles and yelling 'you wossname' by the end of it!

I want to read it already!!!

message 394: by Andrew (new)

Andrew Barrett | 1537 comments Good on yer, Tim!

I'll put you that fiver that you owe Kath on it changing again before the pencil dries ;)

I wrote four pages of planning last night (I had to, I've run out of story!), and if 10% ends up being in the final version I'll be happy, hehe.

message 395: by D.D. Chant (new)

D.D. Chant (DDChant) | 7663 comments Well done Tim!

message 396: by Tim (new) - added it

Tim | 8539 comments Ah, but I'm not worried about details - the shape is defined, and that's what matters for the moment.

Mind you, I won't take that bet if it's on the title of book 3 staying the same...

message 397: by Tim (new) - added it

Tim | 8539 comments Socko is officially back for book 2. Hurrah! :)

message 398: by D.D. Chant (new)

D.D. Chant (DDChant) | 7663 comments Yay!!!

message 399: by Kath (new) - rated it 5 stars

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments Hurray! I thought the Book 3 title was the weakest of the three.
