Philip Whiteland | 3394 comments You can imagine how well tales of growing up in Burton upon Trent do in the U.S., I'm sure ;-)

message 102: by Jonathan (new)

Jonathan Hill | 1599 comments I have just returned from a week's holiday. Is it too late if I get this sorted for tonight...?

message 103: by Kath (new)

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments Should be ok Jonathan as long as you get it to Simon in the way he mentions in the first post.

message 104: by Jonathan (new)

Jonathan Hill | 1599 comments No problem, I'll do it now. Just readjusting temperature-wise.
Barcelona 29 - Manchester 11 :(

message 105: by Jonathan (last edited Oct 12, 2012 08:36AM) (new)

Jonathan Hill | 1599 comments Oh, are people leaving email addresses? I'm always wary as it could lead to spam if they are posted. What is the consensus on this?

message 106: by Kath (new)

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments I don't think anyone has Jonathan.
Hey, I'm from Manchester. Isn't it true that they call Barcelona the Manchester of Spain. Or did I dream that?

message 107: by Jonathan (new)

Jonathan Hill | 1599 comments Kath, you may be right. It rings a bell somewhere in my mind too.

Simon, sent you a bio and links. Phew! Hope I made it!

message 108: by A.L. (new)

A.L. Butcher (alb2012) | 1608 comments hehe me too

Simon (Highwayman) (highwayman) | 4276 comments Hi all,

I'm half-Manc me, though as I was born and bred in London it remains a shadow side of me

message 111: by Lexie (new)

Lexie Conyngham | 1297 comments Stupid me - what's a 'PM'? (apart from prime minister, afternoon, etc.) I realise I'm up against the wire - thanks to Ignite, without whom I wouldn't even have seen the wire ...

message 112: by Patti (baconater) (new)

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments Private message, Lexie.

Just click on Simon's name and you'll see the 'send message' link.

message 113: by Lexie (new)

Lexie Conyngham | 1297 comments Thank you, Patti! I shall now retreat to Georgian Scotland again a little wiser!

Simon (Highwayman) (highwayman) | 4276 comments It has started to rain so I had to duck into the nearest doorway. You will never guess where I ended.

message 115: by Patti (baconater) (new)

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments Oh gee, wonder where you could possibly be....

You're most welcome Lexie. :)

Gingerlily - The Full Wild | 34228 comments Pheasant rather than duck I would think. . .

Stephen Livingston | 38 comments Just saw this thread and have sent you my information Simon. Thanks for setting this website up.
Best wishes, Stephen Livingston.

Simon (Highwayman) (highwayman) | 4276 comments I wonder if book launch and 2000 members party is going to coincide.

message 119: by Patti (baconater) (new)

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments That would be fairly kewl!

message 120: by Kath (new)

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments Well it's been 'publishing' for nearly 24 hours. At this rate we'll be having our 3,000 members party before it's 'live'!

message 121: by Jonathan (new)

Jonathan Hill | 1599 comments I thought English books took 12 hours to go live?

Simon (Highwayman) (highwayman) | 4276 comments Jonathan wrote: "I thought English books took 12 hours to go live?"

Excluding tea breaks.

message 123: by Kath (new)

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments Allegedly. I think Darren uploaded it around 9.30 last night.

message 124: by Jonathan (new)

Jonathan Hill | 1599 comments It's unusual for it to take so long, although it does say 48 hours if it's not English.

So who's written their story in Arabic?

Simon (Highwayman) (highwayman) | 4276 comments I feel sorry for Darren. I know how it feels to be hunted down like a dog by Ignite :-)

message 126: by Kath (new)

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments My poems are Greek to some people!
I suppose you can't complain till it's been 48 hours?

message 127: by Jonathan (new)

Jonathan Hill | 1599 comments I suppose if someone has written cafe with an accent, amazon will turn round and say it's not a fully English document!

message 128: by Kath (new)

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments I think Darren was expecting it live by this morning. Has he left the country?

I nearly always employ neologisms, but can't recall if I did in this story...

Simon (Highwayman) (highwayman) | 4276 comments Quite a lot of my contribution is written in double Dutch.

Simon (Highwayman) (highwayman) | 4276 comments Oh cr*p perhaps GCHQ have read it......

message 132: by Kath (new)

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments I knew it'd be your fault Simon!

D.M. Andrews (author) Andrews (dmandrews) | 1551 comments I hope they don't query it - sometimes when it takes more than 24 hours for an English book it's because of that.

message 134: by David (new)

David Wailing | 834 comments I'm passing the time by listening to this jaunty little number, by my new favourite band:

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Tenki/dp/B009...

I wondered where that was going...until I clicked
:)

Gingerlily - The Full Wild | 34228 comments Oh clever!

message 137: by Jonathan (last edited Oct 17, 2012 12:06AM) (new)

Jonathan Hill | 1599 comments Others on another forum seem to have reported longer-than-usual uploading times with KDP. I uploaded mine more than 12 hours ago and it still has not gone live. Last time it took around 4 hours.

Perhaps there is a backlog?

D.M. Andrews (author) Andrews (dmandrews) | 1551 comments KDP seems to be in a general state of slowness in many ways this month - uploads, support delays, sales, borrows... :(

I've heard some suggest that it got a bit overloaded after authors started pushing harder because of a slow September. And, of course, this is the time of year when the Big 6 etc. are publishing for Christmas sales.

message 139: by Patti (baconater) (new)

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments Nawwwwww.

I betcha it's all Darren's fault.

What? I can say that cuz I know I can run faster scared than he can angry. :)

message 140: by Kath (new)

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments You still waiting Jonathan? Maybe we can wait together and play scrabble?

message 141: by Jonathan (last edited Oct 17, 2012 02:59AM) (new)

Jonathan Hill | 1599 comments Oh, yes! I'm checking literally every 5 minutes.
Scrabble sounds good!
Then we'll play monopoly. Bagsy ship.

message 142: by Kath (new)

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments Oh, you know how to get a girl excited - I thought you said chips! thinking of that steak pie I'm making.
(Pffft - girl! Back in the day though....)

message 143: by Jonathan (new)

Jonathan Hill | 1599 comments You don't look a day over 25 in your profile pic!

message 144: by Kath (new)

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments Sorry to tell you I am - more than twice! But you're a very polite boy!

Yes somepeople are saying more than a couple of days. I had to make a change and mine was up in 12 hours. i know some people are getting "checked for content" so maybe the bot is doing the rounds.

message 146: by Jonathan (new)

Jonathan Hill | 1599 comments Well you'd never guess!
I'm thinking of writing my book out on papyrus in calligraphic writing then hand-delivering it to anyone who buys the book. It will be quicker than KDP...

Jonathan Hill | 1599 comments Alexandra wrote: "Jonathan wrote: "Others on another forum seem to have reported longer-than-usual uploading times with KDP. I uploaded mine more than 12 hours ago and it still has not gone live. Last time it took..."

a couple of days? WHAT?!

message 148: by Andrew (new)

Andrew Lawston (andrewlawston) | 1774 comments I'd love to think my lack of sales at the moment was due to sluggish reporting. But I think it's just sluggish sales...

I'm keeping an eye out for the book so I can rave about it on all the usual channels!

message 149: by Kath (new)

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments If it's more than a couple of days, Jonathan and I will have worn our index fingers down to bloody stumps! Can you break your 'refresh' button?

message 150: by Jonathan (last edited Oct 17, 2012 03:58AM) (new)

Jonathan Hill | 1599 comments I wonder if http://www.amazon.co.uk/Salmagundi-Vo... has had more sales recently, people thinking it's ours? ;)
