That sounds like a lot of fun, Angela! Great idea!I love Yahtzee, so am definitely in! The rules are pretty clear, but I can think of some things to add. For example, a link to the randomizer for rolling dice (with the option to roll 5 actual dice if you have them!), total amounts of books for the upper and lower section, and maybe an option to do only upper or lower. This looks pretty long so maybe a year for the time frame. You could make it a sign-up-anytime and complete by (decided length) from your start date, or wait (ugh...don't like! LOL) until January 1st and make it a 2013 challenge.
Anyway, I want to play!
OH! I got so excited about the Yahtzee idea I forgot to say SO GLAD YOU'VE JOINED US! Thanks to Southpaw also for bringing you over!

I read through the True Blood one because I recently became a fan of the show and the books. I think waiting until January to do this is a great idea and I would like to get as many people as possible to participate in the challenge.

Thank you for the feedback and for showing interest in this challenge.Since it is a point based challenge, I would like to have a start date and a finish date (def. a year). Also, I hope people are not opposed to doing both the upper and lower sections/ instead of splitting them up. A lot of books will fit with other challenges, so I am hoping that maybe a start date of November 1st will work for everyone. If not just let me know, and we can push it up to January 2013. I am currently doing this in my own group and I am also doing other challenges and most books I choose for this, fit in other challenges.
Also, any other interested parties? I have 7 so far, but of course would love more :)!

I'm not sure exactly what you mean, so want to clarify if what I'm thinking matches that!
For this, go to your own TBR. Choose one of the categories (author, title, date added or rating) to sort your TBR list. Then, read three (or four for the large straight books) books that are listed consecutively (i.e. the first three/four books on your list). Is that right?

One other question. After we roll the dice, do we have to complete those books before we roll the dice for another slot? Or can we roll in advance, but only add our points when the slot is read? (Must say, like the second option better...)

For example, when I completed my LG Straight, I sorted my books by avg. ranking and used 3.97(or something like that). I picked them in advance, so naturally by the time I finished them, some of the books had a different ranking.
For your other question, we are completing it as we go kind of like taking a turn. You finish your "turn", get the points and roll again. I know some people like to plan in advance, so I am open to changing it.

Multiple Yahtzees are allowed (which is an additional 50 points for each one, but five books would have to be read for each one as well).

also is in the actual game yahtzee where you get your 3 rolls what will happen if you fail to get what your rolling for say a large straight do you keep going until you complete it or do you get 0 points after the 3 rolls and move on to something else?

Kat-If you do not get what you are trying to get then you can use your chance space or you would have to put a zero somewhere else in place of that roll if you have already used your chance space. Fingers crossed that won't happen. :)!

1/3/2013 -- I have decided to officially withdraw from this challenge. I have not been keeping up with it and do not see myself doing so in the future. Great idea though!!

Question #1- It can be the same author as long as the initials are all the same.
Question #2-I think that 200 or close to it would be a good number for a page requirement.

YAHTZEE CHALLENGE
RULES
Upper Section:

Just like with the real YAHTZEE you get three rolls, but you will have to remember which dice you are keeping and change the number of dice accordingly.
So:
1st roll, roll 5 dice:1 - 6 - 4 - 2 - 3
I am keeping all but the 6, so I will change the number of dice to 1
2cd roll: I got a 2 so now i have 1 - 4 - 2 - 3 - 2
I am going to roll again to see if I can get a 5 for a LG straight
Roll 3: got another 2, so final dice roll is 1 -4 -2 -3 -2
I am going to use my SM STRAIGHT for this roll or I could use my 2's
