What did you think of Hounded? I love Atticus (and Oberon), but I've heard some people hate the whole talking dog gimmick and couldn't finish the book. Just curious!

Christine | 752 comments What?! Someone hates Oberon?! How could you hate Oberon? All he wants is some bacon and a little one-on-one time with a few poodles. I think he's a riot.

Jenika | 22 comments Lol Christine, I read your comment out of context - thought for a moment you were referring to Faery King Oberon, not Dog Oberon! :D

It sounds great - definitely on my to read list.

Well, I'm sure even the Faerie King enjoys a good plate a bacon from time to time. But I shudder to think what he might do to the poodles.

Bacon lattes! And I remember something about strumpet rhyming with pump it and the Black Eyed Peas should "kick it old school with the Bard".

I know, right?!?! A good friend of mine told me he hated him and I was just shocked! It made me reevaluate my relationships :X

I actually listened to the entire series in their audiobook format, and I think Oberon is even better that way. Luke Daniels does a phenomenal job with the different voices.

Jean ~ Kindle Queen (jkat9) | 208 comments 4/10 completed with The Assassin's Curse (The Assassin's Curse, #1) by Cassandra Rose Clarke and Bruxa by A.F. Costa . Assassin's Curse wasn't quite as thrilling as I'd anticipated, so I'm a little bummed. Bruxa turned out to have a love triangle (not a fan of those), which I would have known if I'd read the blurb about it. Oops.

I read the print books last year when they first came out and then listened to the audio versions earlier this year. I agree that Luke Daniels is a great narrator for this series. The only problem with the audio is walking around laughing out loud and no one around you knows why.

@ Christine - My favorites of the bunch would be Death's Rival and Ashes of Honor.

I also lucked out this time with no duds, something that hasn't happened for a long time.

Those are both series I've been meaning to read for ages. I picked them up when the first books came out, but wanted to wait to read them until there were at least two or three books out in each series. Hmmm....I think it's safe to start them now.

It's nice when you have a run of good books. I hope it continues.

I would definitely recommend both series. The October Daye series is a little slower though.

I just finished Nocturnal, and it was ok. There were parts that I really liked and parts that were just so bizarre and weird that I couldn't get into them. I'd probably have liked this a lot better if it were shorter - it was a cool concept, but the writing got a little messy.

Do any of the series you read have novellas associated with them? Those pesky little in-between stories that turn up in anthologies with other writers? One of those would work.

I was considering giving the second book a chance because I'd heard so many good things about the series, but the writing/plot was just such a mess in the first one that I was hesitant. Knowing that they only go downhill seals the deal for me - I think Anita and I are broken up for good!

Lisa Mason (lisamason) | 12 comments Darcy and Ashley, I reviewed Laurell K. Hamilton’s Obsidian Butterfly and A Kiss of Shadows on my Goodreads page. Please go there, if you like. I won’t repeat those reviews here. Just want to say I can see why fans find LKH addictive, but I do have problems with the writing. Also with the author’s attitude. She seems to hate all the female characters other than Anita, which becomes kind of creepy.

What did you think of The Night Circus, Davina? I've heard a lot of mixed reviews. It's been on my TBR for a while, but I haven't been in the mood to tackle it.

Finished "Unveiled" by Courtney Milan, which I didn't care for. Though I am going to read the rest of the series. She's a really good writer, but this one was a dude.

Also got "Curio: Reversal" today and devoured it. Oh! It was sooooo good!
