Book: Here Kitty, Kitty!
Date Read: 9/20/12
Rating: 3.5/5
This is the third book in the series. Since I was not in the right frame of mind to start the book, I think my rating might be a bit lower than usual. But that said, I did like the characters in the book. This one centered on one of the three friends, Angelina and a hillbilly tiger Nikolai. The hyenas are back and causing trouble for Angelina, when she gets kidnapped (for her own safety) by some tigers and dumped in Nik's house. Of course her friends are not going to stand for that, and they want her back home, even if it isn't the safest to try and get her home at the moment.
Through the book we got to see Angelina's temper, her good taste in shoes, and her *somewhat* opening up to Nik.
Overall, I'm glad I read the book!

These were some of my very first ebooks, and so I remember them very fondly ;)

I've been putting this one off for months as I didn't think Hunters story would be that good. I actually really enjoyed it, the romance wasn't really that much of the story compared to the previous ones but it played out well they were well suited.
I liked that the story with Dragos and the order moved on as well although not sure i'm liking the outcome.

Just want to give you ladies a heads up I have to work this evening so I won't be able to let you know when the shelf is posted, so if there is anyone who would be able to help me out with that I would really appreciate it.
I will be online at midnight central time.

you're making me want to read it now but i'll have to fit in 9.5 first (have to read in order) even though I don't think It's related to the storyline.

I played last round as my first round, live in Alaska, and read a lot especially in the winter!

I did wonder where Kim was, no she hadn't read anything yet."
Apparently she ran into problems and had to drop out. "Ours is not to question why, ours is but to read or die...."

Off to do some serious shelf browsing ;)

Book: Grave Memory
Date Read: 9/21/12
Rating: 4/5
Another book in the Alex Craft, Grave Witch series. This one focused more on her relationship with Death. We also learned more about Alex and her father. The story centered around a number of suicides that really are not what they seem. She needs to find out what's going on, and at the same time deal with problems from the Winter Queen. Overall, once I got past my funk, I enjoyed this story and look forward to when the next one will come out.

I'm very pleased with this weeks shelf :)
I just got the last book of The Wolves of Mercy Falls trilogy from library couple of days ago and was secretly hoping it will fit to new shelf! YaY!!!
I read first two books during last bingo round and fell in love with Maggie Stiefvater's writing.
So for my favorite author shelf I will read

Can't wait to start reading as soon as I finish my Free Space book Firelight, which is very good, too.

Skandia, lucky you and your pick falling into your hands. You'll have to tell me your trick with Mr R. LOL

I would love to visit Alaska someday it looks like a beautiful place.

This time, it was pure luck, I guess :)

book

I was disappointed with this. First, I couldn't remember details from the end of the last one, so I had trouble picking it up. Then too much romance, not enough kick ass. Nikki seemed much more interesting in book 1. Not sure I will read any more of these.

Just be sure to credit me when you quote me. Amazingly clever for a person who is heading into the darkness of winter, ugh. ;-}
Sometimes Alaska is beautiful, but it hasn't been for awhile, first twice as much snow as normal (breaking all records) then crummy summer, fall has been "high winds and heavy rains" - even people who don't show steams or creeks on maps have been flooded out!
We better have a decent winter or I will cry...

I also just asked Steph to put my name in since it still shows Kim and that she will be reading some book I never heard of.
We can get a stamp now!

Andrea Nash, beastkin/bouda mix, best friend of Kate Daniels, Consort of the Beastmaster, is having a bad day, week, month. She's been thrown out of the Order because she isn't human, Cutting Edge isn't making any money, she doesn't want to join the Pack, and she and Raphael had a big fight and aren't talking to each other.
Jim, the Pack's Security Chief assigns Andrea a murder case which involves Raphael's company, and they are finally thrown together. Ascanio, the Bouda intern was a sweetheart, and even Roman the Volhv was both helpful and hot.
The Mating Frenzy was a riot (view spoiler) and the little snippets of Kate & Curran were great.
This story overlaps some of Magic Slays and it would be helpful to have read that one first, but if you know the Kate Daniels world, then it isn't strictly necessary.
Just love these stories, and can't wait for the next one.["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>

Book: Firelight by Kristen Callihan

First book in very intriguing historical PNR series Darkest London.
I like historical fiction and read quite a lot of this genre but I don't really remember when I last read historical PNR book.
I'm glad I picked it up because it was really good.
It's a story of Miranda and Lord Archer and their very strange marriage. At first the book reads like mystery or thriller, almost no PN elements but a masked man with secrets to hide and trying to find murderer. The story progresses and slowly we learn the thrilling secrets behind the murders and Lord Archer's PN persona.
Unique, exciting, sexy, dark and mysterious – author has done a really good job keeping her reader guessing, turning pages fast to look for answers and enjoying the story.
I really liked the character of Miranda who refused to stay in shadows as a good Victorian wife and let her husband take care of bad guys. No, she wanted to know exactly what was going on and didn't think twice if her actions to defend her husband were proper or respectable. She was willing to give her all for him and even use her powers, the one thing she had promised herself never to do again a long time ago.
Only thing that kept me giving out full five stars review, were the very very long love scenes that slowed the thrilling story and were a little out of the books overall atmosphere and tempo. I just wanted them to finish already and go on with the story :P like, “Yep, I got it last time, they really are passionately in love, there is tons of sexual tension already, no need to drag it on another ten pages !“ This part of Miranda's and Archer's relationship was slightly overwritten and sometimes overdramatic in my opinion.
I will continue with the series for sure. The next two books will be about Miranda's sisters and I hope there will be some Miranda and Archer in it, too!

Wow, I really loved this, which surprised me. I hadn't really liked Raphael, and Andrea was just okay. Now, I'm thinking I might like Andrea better than Kate. Or maybe it was just my mood. Great plot, great writing, and funny. How can you go wrong?
