Dean, Jess or Logan?

I've been watching the Logan episodes and I just don't like the person Rory becomes when she's with him. And I get that she grew up but it's like she changed herself for him and was trying so hard to be someone else.

Logan. Logan all the way. It was Logan's family that was complicated, Logan himself was easy. A mellow complement to Rory, who at times could be high strung. I also found them to be a lovely couple, both very pretty.

I so agree with you Diana. I definitely felt like Rory changed herself when Logan came along. Eventually though, I think I got used to it and started to see them as equal (in good ways and in bad).

Hey everyone, I just dropped in to say JESS. Jess all the way. He's the only guy she ever seemed truly compatible with, and not just because they were both bookish. Perhaps it was only meant to be a fleeting teenage thing, though. I must say that Logan was a huge disappointment as he was guaranteed to make my skin crawl whenever he appeared on screen. He was just so unlikely as a partner. I'm pretty neutral about Dean, but I can get nostalgic for the early years of the series when I see him. The majority of that relationship was very sweet and innocent, until season 5, of course! Maybe that's a discussion/debate for another day!
My daughters and I all vote for Logan ... however, we are CURRENTLY watching through the series, and are just into the 6th season. I'm hearing about a "grown-up" Jess that we haven't seen yet, so we might change our minds!
Definitely Jess. He was the only one who had intelligence to match hers. I realize that love isn't just based on that, but he was the most interesting, passionate, and real character out of the three, I think. Not to mention, he became a writer!
Yep ... we just watched a few episodes today, and Jess reappeared, and I think I'll be ammending my vote pretty soon. It's a tough choice ... all three of the men have had their good points, and their bad points.
of course ... Jess... they were so sweet and they had (most of the time)the same liking. I was so sad, as they ended up...
I was bothered by her turning down Logan and them having Paris and Doyle end up together. It was almost as if the were saying that Paris should let herself be in love at that age, but Rory was too good to have found her equal yet.On the Jess note, I never could get into him. My husband came in to the series right around when she met Logan, and so when Jess reappeared, he loved Jess and I kept saying "You can't like Jess, he's awful." It's so funny how your perspective changes throughout the show.

Me too! I think about this show far too much...somehow every character manages to get my mind invested in them, especially Rory. I'm re-watching S4 now too! And I totally agree with your point that she's best when she has no boyfriend...somehow that's a little like Lorelai too...they seem to have too much unsolvable problems when they have boyfriends

You guys should totally read the book Coffee at Luke's if you haven't already. It has essays by people who clearly feel the same way about the show that we do.

I feel I have to comment on the cheating part. Remember how they got together in the first place? He made her cheat on her boyfriend for him. It was one thing for her to be bored with Dean or anything, but Jess was purposely flirting with and then stealing another guy's girlfriend... I think that's why I could never stand him, it always nagged at the back of my mind.
The book-loving, novel-writing Jess in the later seasons!
Jess has always been my favorite. He's a bookworm like Rory, and he can banter with her like no one else. I wanted their relationship to last longer.Dean was a bit too "slow" in this aspect. He and Rory weren't compatible at all. But he is still infinitely better than Logan, that womanizing jerk.
i was a major Dean fan for the longest time. i never hated Jess but at the same time i never loved Jess. even today i still don't have an opinion on him. Logan is my main man though. i love logan to death even though he can be extremely dense at times. put all three men together and thats my dream guy.
Jess was the best fit for Rory. They had the most similarities. He just wasn't at a point in his life where he was ready for a girl like Rory. And then he saw her later with Logan when he just published a book and he was the one that was doing something with his life. Sad love storyy...But I still think it was hilarious when Rory was running away from Jess at the carnival. That made me laugh so hard. :)

Jess. I hated Dean and Logan! They were both horrible! Dean was annoyingly clingy and also wasn't particularly smart. Also, cheating on poor Lindsay with Rory? Bad! I'll grant Logan the fact that he isn't too bad looking but he's a rich spoiled kid who also cheated on Rory!! So, it's obviously Jess. He grew up and was absolutely perfect for Rory. :)

He went about everything the wrong way in their relationship. But out of all three of her boyfriends, he was the best because he was always upfront with her and never cheated.
either logan or jess because dean isn't as intellectually challenging for rory. i agree with jess about how rory and dean are like a teacher and student. i can see them having a tutoring session but not on a date. jess and logan always have witty comebacks for rory.the only thing is jess is always running away and logan can be immature at times

Season 6 Jess was the best option for Rory...Dean was needy and possesive and Logan led her astray and started to hold her back....My favourite moment was when Jess told off Rory in Let Me Hear Your Balalaikas Ringing Out. He knew her in a way Logan and Dean didn't and in the end Rory went back to YALE.
On a side note I didn't like how Lorelai didn't give Jess a second chance. She more tolerated him for the sake of Rory when they were dating and how she liked Logan...She spent so many years keeping Rory from Emily and Richard's world yet Logan drags Rory into it
I liked Jess,because he started out as a troubled teen, but when he was with Rory he grew. In fact I think his time with Rory helped him become a better man.

I'm also team Jess :) They just go together so well! Her and Dean didn't seem to have much in common, and I just never really liked Logan.

I do agree that most times it is when teens are dating that things as this happens, but then again, I think it can happen during marriage. Plus, Rory was in college during this time right?
Anyway, I didn't feel like the show was saying that it was ok to do those kind of things, but to show that it can be a delusion and you just end up being hurt. Which Rory's mom tried to keep her from when she found out that Dean and Rory were cheating.

She didn't have any chemistry with marty though - he was nice, and they and they had things in common, but he was just a friend. She never would have had the "logan" or "jess" passion with Marty.
Dean, I have always loved Dean. (I hated it though when they had Dean cheat on his wife and made her become the other woman. Jess bad boys are not for me it was cool that he was a reader. Logan I could never stand Logan. If it couldn't have been Dean it should have been someone else maybe Marty:)?

Long time lurker, first time poster!I have to say, team Logan all the way. I adored Jess, but he had his own issues to work through, and I think towards the end, he and Rory just were from two different worlds. And Dean was just too much of a Nice GuyTM (not to be confused with genuinely nice guys)...he was so controlling and manipulative. While Logan had his bad moments, I felt like they were on equal footing in every way, and that he in general was a good guy on the whole, despite his (very realistic) flaws.
Dean. He is such a sweet guy and i love their story together. Jess was ok, but if they get together I have to abandon hope on Lorelai and Luke. It's too brother /sister ish. Logan, I have never trusted and never will.
I'm Team Jess, but only toward the end of the series. I don't think Jess was good for Rory when they dated, but he matured a lot in later years.Dean was sweet and all, but he was a little too simple and old-fashioned for me. His comments about housewives in the Donna Reed episode drove me nuts.
Finally, I think Logan tried really hard to be good for Rory. He made a lot of changes (or tried to) when he decided to be with her. I would've been fine with them getting married, but I don't blame Rory at all for not wanting to settle down yet.
I think inevitably, Logan would have fallen back into his old ways though. Ten bucks says he would have ended up cheating on her later on in life, and she would have wished that she had turned him down...
Kelly, I hadn't really thought about that! Rory and Jess would have made Lorelai and Luke a little weird. I think I loved Lorelai and Luke more than I loved Rory and Jess, so I'd rather her end up with someone else.I'm beginning to think that she would meet someone who combined the good points of all of the guys. Dean's loyalty (and looks because he was hot), Jess's intelligence, Logan's spontaneity.
