Anita (anit) | 1 comments At first I was in love with Rory and Jess. They were like perfect together in my opinion. Jess was a bad boy and I really liked his attitude, maybe it's just me, but I'm really fond of bad boys. ;) However no matter how harsh he treated the rest, he was so good to Rory and he really seemed like he wanted to take good care of her. I couldn't forgive her for saying 'no' to him in the 4th season!

Then Logan came into the picture. It was love at first sight! Omg, THE SMILE. Isn't he gorgeous when he smiles? One just has to love his little wrinkles around the eyes. Sure he wasn't a perfect match for her in the beginning and he used to be a jerk, but I was so touched when he decided to make a commitment to her! He did make some mistakes along the way, but let's face it - which boy doesn't? Despite some of his antics from the past he was a hell of a gentleman and he really loved Rory. And I don't really think that he was spoilt! Well, at least not as much as he could be in his position.

I skipped Dean because I just simply couldn't stand that guy!

VOTE LOGAN! ^^

All Jess, the new Jess that is. When he comes and visit Rory it's just perfect. He's all put together what with his book and all. And he realizes something that Rory doesn't, that she has to go back to school.

Christi I think Jena nailed this!
I miss the "Girls" !

message 254: by Katie (last edited Jul 23, 2009 03:12PM) (new)

Katie Marquette (katiesonlinelibrary) Jess all the way.

Good looking, intelligent, A WRITER, and completely in love with Rory. Plus, who doesn't love a secret good guy masquerading as a tough guy?

What more could you want?

Oh and I completely hated the fact that Dean cheated on his wife with Rory. Actually, I thought it was ridiculous that he got married in the first place. I'm with Rory - who ever said it was wrong to just DATE when you're nineteen?

message 255: by Ellie (new)

Ellie | 1 comments Team Jess.
I have my reasons...

message 256: by Catja (new)

Catja (catjaa) | 1 comments I'm a Jess girl.
I love his personality.
Rebellious but deep.

message 257: by Kali (new)

Kali (aloisia) I really like Jess a lot. They were definitely good together. I never thought that it was fair that he was her only boyfriend that wasn't given a second chance with her. That always bothered me. I do like Logan too though. I don't know who I like more out of the 2 of them.

message 258: by Zala (new)

Zala I might be in minority, but for some time, I really liked Dean. He was just this nice, solid guy and Rory's first love. The new and improved Jess is also interesting.
Logan I hate from the start, though. He is just too much of a spoiled rich guy, who thinks can do anything that he feels like doing, even if it hurts others.

message 259: by Kali (new)

Kali (aloisia) I agree that Logan could be annoying sometimes, but he got better over time in my opinion. I just never liked Dean. Except for in season 1. As time went by, I didn't really like him. He didn't seem right for Rory. He was too protective and perfect for her. And I hate that he cheated on his wife with Rory. No matter how much they may have loved each other, it was just wrong. He just didn't seem like the right choice for her in my opinion at all.

message 260: by Mia (new)

Mia (mia-urick) I was a huge fan of Logan. He was smart, well-read, witty, and he challenged Rory to come out of her nice safe world and experience life a bit more. I think Rory really began to grow with Logan. He did have his bad points. He could be hedonistic and spoiled, but I never thought he was selfish or cruel, just not very practiced at putting others before him. I always thought Rory/Logan was what Rory/Tristan could have been if they weren't 16 and angsty.

If not Logan, then a truly grown up Jess. I don't think we got to see enough of him to really see if he'd changed. I hope he did, but I would need more opportunities to observe.

Shannette | 3 comments Amy wrote: "Since Marty isn't an option, I vote for the new, improved Jess. When he was dating Rory he was so angry and stubborn and needed to grow up. I liked the new, improved Jess who showed up in season 6...."

marty wasn't an option for a GOOD reason, he was a jerk to her and avoided her like the plague for a year!

message 262: by Shannette (new)

Shannette | 3 comments I liked all three, Logan had his moments when I just loved him to pieces but he was still something about him. And the moment the cheating story line came into play it was like if he could cheat on Lindsay he could just as easily cheat on Rory. But the moment Jess came on the seen I was hooked. He was a bad boy with a heart of gold and I loved that. Then when he came back all reformed I still loved him.

Caryn, that's exactuly what I was going to say about Jess! You worded it much better than I would have, though. :)

TotallyTwilightFan!*In Love With Edward Cullen!* (iluvrobertpattinson) | 3 comments Dean! because he was such a gentleman and Rori totally broke his heart! But i didn't really like him in the later seasons.

message 265: by Emily (new)

Emily (emilylgrogan) | 1 comments Jess

message 266: by Becky (new)

Becky Lu (crazy4rach2) | 8 comments I must say definitely Logan. They were on the same intellectual level. Definitely NOT Jess because intellectually, he's not there where she was in the last episode. I wish they were able to shoot more episodes till Logan and Rory got married! Siiigh.

message 267: by Ginger (new)

Ginger Jane (gingerjane) | 1 comments So I'm team Jess, I could watch the whole High School Jess sequence forever. I've just watched it again for the fourth time (I think) and it still makes me all swoony.

Which I guess makes grown up Jess ideal because he's got the swoon with better communication skills.

Logan - gag (although I'm bound to rewatch that bit soon and reserve the right to revise this) and Dean - double gag and hell whiney. Boooooring.

message 268: by Emma (new)

Emma | 4 comments TRISTAN.

Haha but seriously Jess ALL THE WAY. Logan was ridiculous and I cannot believe how many people actually liked him. Tristan and Jess challenged Rory. They both had amazing chemistry with her and I think she inspired them a little to be better people. I mean grown up Jess was amazing. I thought that episode really showed how wrong Logan was for her and somehow she still ended up back with him. His proposal just proved that in his world Rory would always have to be someone she wasn't. Rory was in awe of him, Jess was definitely better for her and always full of surprises.
Dean makes me want to tear my hair out. I cheered for Tristan and Jess while Rory was foolishly dating Dean. But I suppose it's normal to date the wrong people in our youth. When they cheated on Lindsay I think I threw a pillow at the TV. No one would be that stupid, least of all Rory Gilmore.

I agree with you on the Jess parts and the ending parts. I didn't like Logan at all. He was turning Rory into something she was not where as Jess allowed her to be herself. To me, Logan was a rich ass the majority of the time. Jess was at least trying to do something with his life in the end. He changed because of Rory and he made her a better person in a way. Logan was tearing her down. I think he was one of the main reasons she dropped out of Yale. I think Jess was one of the major voices that made her go back to Yale. He was definitely better to her in general. He never stopped caring about her. Jess does balance her.

For the ending, I believe that she should have turned around, saw Jess leaning up against the tree, and have him just say "Hey, Rory." and let it end that way. That would have been my ideal ending.

message 270: by Emma (new)

Emma | 4 comments I know I just commented, but I have to say that reading through these it's wonderful how so many thousands of people can watch the same show and want different things. I adored Jess from start to finish. I couldn't stand Logan and was thrilled when she said no. But I appreciate that the talented writers can create so many positive choices for the viewers. What a great show!

message 271: by M (last edited Jul 24, 2010 10:46PM) (new)

M | 12 comments Logan or Jess is fine, they're both great in their own way with Rory.

I never like Dean, he was so... uninteresting and lacks spunk and character.

message 272: by Grace (new)

Grace (Gracethe-weird-one) | 8 comments What ever happened to Marty?
I really liked him for Rory.Even though it was kinda weird later on when he was dating Lucy,I always wished she could give him a chance sometime.

message 273: by Aubrey (new)

Aubrey (busy_reading_mama) | 9 comments I liked them all at certain times. But I really liked Logan the best overall. He had his issues but I think he really loved her a lot. And she was very in love with him.

message 274: by Becca (new)

Becca Fox (ceruloplasmin) | 1 comments I liked Logan the best overall as well. I loathed Jess. I felt like he pulled Rory down. Not because of class or anything, but because he was so mean-spirited.

message 275: by Grace (new)

Grace (Gracethe-weird-one) | 8 comments Yes,
Logan was what she needed when she needed it,
I liked him too.

message 276: by Lynsi (new)

Lynsi (lyneek) | 2 comments I loved Jess. He really did love Rory, but he always had so much stuff going on in his life. And Rory was good for him. I thought she motivated him to be a better person, but he didn't do too much for her which was a shame. He just couldn't grow up.
And Logan took a while to get used to. He was always so hot and cold. And I was upset when he insisted that Rory marry him right after graduation although he knew she had other plans. And then he wouldn't wait. What the hell was that?
And Dean, oh I did love Dean. But he was just so dependent on Rory. I found that annoying. He just wasn't on her level intellectually and was completely aware of it. Though he did try to get better for her sake.

message 277: by Gitte (new)

Gitte (gittetofte) I loved Jess! She should have had a last fling with him!

message 278: by Grace (new)

Grace (Gracethe-weird-one) | 8 comments Ooohhh,
Great point,Lynsi.That's so true!

message 279: by Sanna (new)

Sanna | 7 comments It's an easy choice. Jess, of course. Sure, he did hurt Rory a couple of times, but he didn't mean to. Dean was too nice, and too safe. Logan was too much of a snob.

I fell in love with Jess the moment he got off that bus. Okay, he was not very nice to Lorelai and Luke (but he got nicer) but I liked the fact that he was nice to Rory. There was something about her that he liked the first time he saw her. You could always tell that he really cared for her. She was propbably the first person he'd ever loved. He was a bad boy, but he was smart and funny, too, and he loved to read, just like Rory.

I think Rory loved Jess, and I don't think she felt the same, strong emotions about Dean. She needed him in her life. I really wish he would have turned up in the last episode, but since he didn't, I'm going to keep envision it in my head: Rory meets Jess again, and they'll be together forever :D

message 280: by Lori (new)

Lori Walker Sanna, It seemed like Jess challenged Rory intellectually more than the other two. It was kind of an equal partnership. With Dean, she was more of a "teacher." And with Logan, he was the dominant one and she seemed kind of fake. But with Jess (and with Dean) she was herself--someone who read the classics and was a comfortable kind of loner. I imagine that they got back together too.

message 281: by Melanie (new)

Melanie (melanie_b) | 10 comments I loved Logan. Jes was a great high-school boyfriend, but never one that would have taken her to the heights in which she was capable. People are accusing Logan of being a snob, but to say this is to forget his character's growth completely. He walked away from his family and his inheritance to be his own man and was completely willing to start out the way everyone starts out- poor. I don't see this as snobby. His parents were snobs, but Logan? No. I personally wished Rory and Logan would have stayed together. I know I'm a minority on this, but what can I say? Dean was a schmuch. Sorry, but anyone that cheats on his wife will forever be tainted in my eyes.

message 282: by Jana (new)

Jana Heinzelmann (wortmaschen) | 6 comments I would definitely go for Logan! Jess just does not suit Rory and Dean is way to sensible! Rory needs someone smart with whom she can have discussions about all the topics she is reading and writing about. And she needs someone to discuss with not anyone who only says yes to everything! But she needs something stable as well not someone like Jess who might or might not be there!!!

message 283: by Melanie (new)

Melanie (melanie_b) | 10 comments Exactly!! Logan was so good to Rory and for Rory. He challenged her and to be all she had the potential to be and encouraged her to follow her dreams. Not to mention he loved her so much he wanted to marry her. Can't believe she walked away from perfection...

message 284: by Diana (new)

Diana I personally liked Dean, just because he seemed so devoted to Rory, but I have to agree that he was way to needy. Logan seemed to involved with himself.
So I'd have to say Jess in the later years, because in high school he was just a jerk.

message 285: by Isabelle (new)

Isabelle (madame_izab0u) | 8 comments It would be Logan for me too... I know he was not perfect, but I really think he was determined to change. And as Rory was helping him mature, I think Logan helped her losen up a bit.

They completed each other and really made a great team. Ahhh, as you Melanie, I was sooo sad when she walked away!

message 286: by Lori (new)

Lori Walker I don't know. I feel like Rory got away from herself in the later seasons. She didn't seem as genuine and she faked it a lot more. I know she couldn't very well keep up her semi-rebel attitude from high school (I don't really know the best word for it, but she was funky and a bit of a loner) all the time, but it seemed like she had that fake society voice. I really noticed it around the time she started working for the DAR and that episode when Lorelai and Luke visited Logan's beachhouse. Does anyone else know what I'm talking about?

message 287: by hixbowers (new)

hixbowers | 6 comments All three guys were good choices in their own ways. Dean was the perfect innocent high school boyfriend who never tried to push Rory into anything she was uncomfortable doing. Jess was the guy who came along and made Rory realize how exciting it could be to date the "bad" boy. And Logan is the one who forced Rory to confront her prejudices against charming, confident, wealthy guys. All three had their faults too: Dean introduced Rory to the ugliness of jealousy and betrayal, Jess was the boy who loved Rory but couldn't get over his own problems and show her what she meant to him, and Logan cheated on her-twice!-on winter break.

Percy Pigsbottom Lori wrote: "I don't know. I feel like Rory got away from herself in the later seasons. She didn't seem as genuine and she faked it a lot more. I know she couldn't very well keep up her semi-rebel attitude f..."

I totally agree. I watched the episode where Martha and Davey get christened the other day and thought exactly the same thing as you. She seemed fake, especially when talking with Lane. I couldn't decide if it was the direction Rory had taken or Alexis's acting which had changed though.

I think this is part of the reason why I don't like the later seasons so much. Rory was very opinionated to begin and wouldn't care so much about 'fitting in'. She seemed to have a complete change of direction (even personality) in around Season 5/6, but maybe that was her trying to find out who she was. Or maybe she was trying to fit into Logan's lifestyle - I just never felt she really belonged there.

message 289: by TulahF (new)

TulahF | 1 comments i think jess was the best. dean may have been the 'pretty boy', but they had barely anything in common. he was too naive. logan was just a snob the whole time, and in the end he only hurt rory. jess may have been a bad boy but he was the funniest, smartest, and you could tell he adored rory ever since the beginning.

message 290: by Isabelle (new)

Isabelle (madame_izab0u) | 8 comments Well, i don't know if you agree, but I think I need to watch the whole series again just to be sure! :P

message 291: by Robbie (new)

Robbie Bashore | 592 comments I probably said this a long time ago, or maybe I said it about Loralei, anyway, I think all three had great qualities, and Rory could use them to add to her lists of things she does and doesn't want in a man, then use those lists to find the right guy. I'm not sure any of them is right, but I think I'd go for the mature Jess. He was always so genuine.

message 292: by jessica (last edited Nov 12, 2010 04:37PM) (new)

jessica | 8 comments At first i really liked Dean. He was a perfect boyfriend. I might be the only to think this. He had his jealous moments but who would not. But I think Jess was the better choice. He push Rory but not too much. He had a love of books like her.He really cared about her and did not want to change her.Logan I never really liked him.He was an arrogant cheater who did not even think of stopping Rory when they stole the boat.I think Logan brought Rory down.

message 293: by Markka (new)

Markka Sahlman Jess. Totally! Sweet bad boy, sadly, just my type.
Dean annoyed me so much. Very needy and whiny.

message 294: by [deleted user] (new)

LOGAN.
Dean and Jess suited her well durring the times they were with her, but Logan was just so nice. Like her, he grew up with rich family (Rory's case is different, but still). Jess was nice when he grew up, but it was ridiculous that he expected her to wait through all of his nonsence before we see that side of him. Logan had his bad moments. but still. However, I think it was VERY out of character for Logan to say "Marry me or break up." He loved her sooo much, and for him to make her choose between him, and the life she wanted to live was a bit extreme. I realize that, in this show, it was inevitable that Rory would eventually break up with Logan, but (just saying) if it were me, I would've married him.

message 295: by Lisa (new)

Lisa (abitcookbookish) | 3 comments Really, do I have to decide who would be right for Rory? I know that Logan would be right for me! :) All in all, I dunno who I would pick--Jess or Logan for sure, ANYONE but Dean!

message 296: by Jess (new)

Jess | 12 comments I like the grown up Jess, but maybe because he seemed to fit the more intellectual side of her and they didn't really get much of a chance. I think now they would fit well together.

I feel like Logan (while he was understandably upset) let go of Rory too quickly. I'm glad she didn't decide to marry him, she still had a lot to do on her own, but to just give up after everything they had been through seemed to be really unsupportive of her goals and dreams.

Dean was a good first boyfriend (and third boyfriend) but he had a lot of his own growing to do.

As for those saying that Alexis's acting was different (or possibly Rory was different), there was that big staff change in the last season(s), so it's probably a little of both. Plus the last season was a little rushed. While I'm glad they pretty much wrapped up story lines (and got Lorelai and Luke back together!!!!!), they could have gone one more season. I mean, they brought back 7th Heaven, and they had totally wrapped that up!

Skena Megahed Jess

message 299: by Amanda (new)

Amanda (doxamully) | 1 comments I really loved Dean, but they completely killed that romance with the whole him getting married and cheating on his wife plot. Just...no, let's not go there! Logan greatly improved over time, but I never particularly cared for him. I also disliked Jess for quite a while, but he completely won me over after he changed and I was happy to see he was pursuing his dreams. I love to think that maybe they reconnected again someday!

message 300: by [deleted user] (new)

The million dollar question that put a wedge in my friendship with my best friend! :)

I always saw the good in Jess. But then Logan came along and, as Rory grew up, I saw them as an equal match and since Jess was gone, no one knows how he grew and evolved. But I will always have that soft spot for Jess.
