Romance 101 Reading Challenge
@Mojca - Wow. I had forgotten about Barbara Cartland! How was this book? I haven't read one of her books for over 20 years at least...
Duration Jan 19 - Jul 195. Futuristic Romance: Glory in Death (In Death 2) by J.D. Robb
8. Inspirational Romance: A Matter of Class by Mary Balogh
11. Serial Romance: Every Which Way But Dead (Rachel Morgan/The Hollows 3) by Kim Harrison
anyone got any idea where steampunk such as Warrior would fit in? (fantasy maybe) - also would Mercy Thompson work for Multi-cultural/interracial since Mercy is part indian and Adam is of german descent (IIRC)...that is the one that is really stumping me right now
Jane (PS) wrote: "@Mojca - Wow. I had forgotten about Barbara Cartland! How was this book? I haven't read one of her books for over 20 years at least..."Well, it was the usual "place-switching" BC fare, nothing to write home about, but not that bad either.
I'm just now starting the Cartland cycle all over again after finding a bunch of her novels in my grandmother's attic. It's fun "reliving" the cringe-inspiring tales of our youth. ;)

Delicious Dee Challenge Addict wrote: "anyone got any idea where steampunk such as Warrior would fit in? Mojca wrote: "Jane (PS) wrote: "@Mojca - Wow. I had forgotten about Barbara Cartland! How was this book? I haven't read one of her books for over 20 years at least..."Well, it was the usual "place-switching"..."
Wahahaha! I can imagine it would be a bit of light relief reading another BC (so long as you know what to expect)! Enjoy :)

Delicious Dee Challenge Addict wrote: "yeah - i'm not far enough into psy-changling for that one...oh well, i'll post my list pending that...lol!"There are other interracial couples in the Psy-Changeling series, so you might fit one of the following books in this challenge wherever you are in the series:
- Lucas & Sasha from Slave to Sensation (book #1)
- Clay & Talin from Mine to Possess (book #4)
- Dorian & Ashaya from Hostage to Pleasure (book #5)
- Dev & Katya from Blaze of Memory (book #7)
hmmm, I have mine to possess on the pile...so that is a maybe...but i'm going to leave Mercy for now...thanks!
I'm in. I just have to decide on my start date (possibly today as the book I just started may qualify for #12). I'll post as I go.

Yz the Whyz wrote: "But, guys, Brigg's Mercy Thompson books are not standard romance. They are Urban Fantasy."LOL - missed that significant detail in amongst the search for the minutiae!! :)
the one i found is by morgan hunter it probably also fits into romantic suspense (not sure which one the emphsis is on right now), but its interracial - he's black (or at least half-black, his skin is described as being like cafe au lait) and she is white...called Are You Scared Yet? - hunter morgan

Sundays at Tiffany's to me was a cute story :)
Does Naked in Death by J.D. Robb qualify for futuristic romance? I noticed a lot of people are using this series for that category. But I wasn't sure from the summary I read about it...Thanks!

It's more like a futuristic police procedural storyline with a strong romance thread woven in it.
But if you want to use it for the futuristic romance category, i'll give you a pass. After all, I'm always willing to promote Roarke to any reader. : )

Hi Dee,Have you tried any Shelley Laurenston? She has a lot of interracial couples (not to mention inter-species, LOL). They are always a fun read.

Megan, Lisa Marie Rice is shelved as erotica and I have read straight romance that has more steam. Which isn't to say they aren't hot, but they are also super yummy!
I reeeeeeally want to do this challenge, especially because it's 6 months long (I love the longer cahllenges!). But I REALLY do not like category 8. I'm gonna have to think on this one. Did Yhz ever come back on the Jacquelyn Frank Nightwalker series?
Sherry wrote: "I reeeeeeally want to do this challenge, especially because it's 6 months long (I love the longer cahllenges!). But I REALLY do not like category 8. I'm going to have single category read within 2 months & spend the next 4 months gathering the willpower to read "Jesus is my Boyfriend".

I even have a Nicholas Sparks' book at home! The sacrifices we make to fullfill a book reading challenge. LOL!
MountainKat wrote: "Megan, Lisa Marie Rice is shelved as erotica and I have read straight romance that has more steam. Which isn't to say they aren't hot, but they are also super yummy!"Thank you so much!! I think I've read one by her, so this will be perfect!

Like the ER about the guy with two penises....I could've spent my whole life in bliss without reading that.
