Animal lover, avid reader since I was old enough to read which for me was early. I was gulping down early King and early Koonz, and Robert McCammon before I was old enough to drive. I read hardbacks by Michael Crichton, Robin Cook, Robert Ludlum, and Stephen King from the college library. Later it was books-on-tape when education and employment took me on the seemingly endless parkways.
I think of myself as an eclectic reader. I read crime fiction, police procedurals, serial killer thrillers, dark psychological fiction, and even a smattering of domestic suspense from what has grown into wide bench of talent. There are a number of series I have loved over the years as well (crime, law, and medical oriented). I was drawn to certain serials that piqued my interest.
I previously enjoyed Lee Child's Reacher and John Sandford's Lucas Davenport, but my interest was limited to the original authors and novels in the original series.
I have discovered that I have a genuine interest in Splatterpunk/Extreme Horror, and I am looking forward to exploring its early days as well as current day stars of the sub-genre.
Many previous interests I see being pushed aside to accommodate new areas of exploration. I still have commitments, so I am limited to nighttime reading. I would love to make some friends in the Goodreads community who share common interests.
I do not have a scintilla of interest in ROM-COM, most fantasy, and find most
"Cosmic horror" ala Lovecraft not my "cup of tea".
