★★★★★: I loved this book! Maybe it wasn’t perfect, but I enjoyed it so much I was able to overlook its flaws.
★★★★☆: I (really) enjoyed it, but there are a few elements that kept me from loving it.
★★★☆☆: This book was fine. I probably won’t read it again, and I won’t be keeping it on my shelf.
★★☆☆☆: This book disappointed me. Usually, the problems I have with this book detract considerably from my reading experience. I'm willing to overlook a lot in favor of characters I enjoy, though, so oftentimes it's one of the issues above compounded with a lack of character development.
★☆☆☆☆: One-star reads are books I disliked reading. These books are missing one or two key elements to help prop up their stories; often, that absence is what distinguishes them from my two-star reads.
DNF: I don't rate books I don't finish, and I'll only mark a book as DNF if I've abandoned it after the 50-pg mark. I give books 50 pages to keep me engaged; if I decide not to finish a book before that point, it won't be included in my GR library....more
