I have read all of Cialdini's books in order of publication. Influence was good from a thoroughness and academic standpoint. For the practitioner, Yes! is better because if contains less theory and more (50, actually) practical examples. Pre-Suasion expresses a great concept and it provides some of the academic rationale behind it. It's lacking, however, in hands-on. It does offer solid and concrete example, but it repeats those examples throughout the book without providing a good blueprint or system for practicing pre-suasion on your own.

When I first saw this book, I decided to read Influence before starting to read Pre-Suasion and I think it was helpful to have read Influence beforehand. Influence is a simpler book with more straight forward information and Pre-Suasion is definitely a more advanced read, so having an understanding of the methodology of what Pre-Suasion is trying to accomplish is helpful. I still haven't finished Pre-Suasion but I am enjoying it!

I have only read this book and learned of Influence while reading it. This book stands on its own merits.
