Hi Jodi, simple question: In the St. Mary's books, why did you go for "an historian" instead of "a historian"? I get it that "h" is a weak consonant, but for other combinations like "a hideous" or "a hindrance", you use "a" (thank goodness my ebook reader has a search function). I'm not an English native speaker (I'm German) but I'm very interested in details like this. Is there a quirky rule that I'm not aware of?

Hello Oliver - good question. At some point in my education, I was taught that if the emphasis is on the first part of the word ... hula-hoop ...horrible ... helpful ... house and so forth, then 'a' should be used. A hula-hoop, a horrible week, a helpful person, a house, etc. But if the emphasis is on the second part ... hotel ... historian ... then it's an hotel, an historian. Although having said that, in my other series, I do say the more conventional a historian. I do hope you've enjoyed this fortunately brief glimpse into the murky tangles that are my thought processes. Best wishes.

Hello Jodi,
Thank you for the wonderful books you write. They are such a pleasure to read.
My question is around Dr stone. I never saw that coming at all and can’t help feeling like I want to know why ? Why did he do what he did? Why didn’t he care about st Mary’s and how could he do what he did. He always seemed to do the right thing until he didn’t and I just can’t help feeling like it’s unfinished business.

It feels like ‘The Good, The Bad, And The History’ nicely tied up all the loose ends around Max’s story and passes the baton to Matthew and the Time Police stories. Was this the last of the Chronicles of St. Mary’s? Will we see more of those mysterious figures from the British Museum?

Hi Jodi. I just finished rereading all of the St Mary's and Time Police books - I decided to reread after reading C of C and starting some friends on the books. I love the whole series. The two questions I have for you at the moment are: (1) do you see the Time Police series as YA? (2) I've heard you say Jodi Taylor is a pen name. Can I ask what your real name is? Is that too personal?
