(view spoiler)[Hey Angie, I just finished Klara and the Sun and like you absolutely loved the book! Your review nailed it!
How do you feel about the ending? Did " they" disable her so she could not move about the I guess what we call a junk yard? :(
I cannot imagine giving up someone/something so meaningful like this. I am thinking of both Josie and her Mom. I mean how? Like leaving a beloved pet in a parking lot. Heartbreaking! (hide spoiler)]

(view spoiler)[Hi Stéphanie! This makes me so happy that you also loved Klara and the Sun! Endings are funny things. When I love characters (as I love Klara), I of course want them to have the happiest ending possible, and what happened to Klara at the end is heartbreaking, but at the same time, I think it's completely consistent with the world that Kazuo Ishiguro has created here. It's a tragic situation, but I think that's the point, much like Never Let Me Go. I do think that they disabled her (or maybe she was broken and they didn't do the necessary repairs?) and she's basically continuing to exist in this place for things that have outgrown their usefulness. I'm hoping that Josie and her mom are not aware of what's happened to her? (Maybe they think she's been recycled in some way and serving another family?) Poor Klara! (hide spoiler)]

I loved Miracle Creek for so many reasons, especially the highs and lows of motherhood and adults being made childlike as they struggle with a language in a new country. It also provided a window into the world of parenting special needs children, which I have not read much about. What drew you to write about that?

I love that this book was both a courtroom thriller & a domestic page turner. It reminded me of my mom who passed away when I was 16 - I'm 38 now. I didn't love reading until a few years after she passed, but I know we would have loved to discuss this one if we could. I kept thinking of sacrifice when I read this. In your eyes, which was the most subtle sacrifice in Miracle Creek?
