Suzanne
Suzanne asked Angie Kim:

I loved Miracle Creek for so many reasons, especially the highs and lows of motherhood and adults being made childlike as they struggle with a language in a new country. It also provided a window into the world of parenting special needs children, which I have not read much about. What drew you to write about that?

Angie Kim Thank you so much, Suzanne. It makes me so happy to hear that you loved Miracle Creek! As for writing about parenting special-needs children, I think it's because of my own experience as the mom of three kids who all experienced medical issues (although, thankfully, they're all fine now). I also did HBOT personally with one of my kids, which I wrote about in an essay for Vogue magazine (tinyurl.com/vogueangiekim), which may interest you. Through our double dives for HBOT and through speech therapy and auditory processing therapy (one of my kids was born deaf in one ear), I got to be close friends with moms of children on the autism spectrum and cerebral palsy as well. I hope this answers your question! Thank you again.
