Is this book ok for a very well read and avid star wars fan who is 11 years old?

A woman is tortured throughout most of the book. A man is eaten from the inside out by bugs, so that he swells and eventually explodes. I would think these would be worth mentioning more than an offhand reference to a woman having had more than one sexual partner.

I think so. There are a couple of blood bath- hell broke loose- war scenes and a part where one of the characters says she is pregnant and isn't sure if the baby is from 2 guys but it would be up to you. I would let my 11 year old nephew read the book.

I was multiple grades ahead in reading skills throughout school, but I would not have been emotionally able to handle the graphic depictions of violent interrogation and warfare in this book until I was at least 16.

It really depends on the child. I was reading much more explicit books at 10, so I'd definitely recommend it, but if the child is less inclined to reading ahead of grade level, you might be a bit more hesitant? Overall, there's not really a lot of curse words and explicit scenes, but a few gruesome ones, so I'd say go ahead (I'm only 12 and it was great)!

As with most media: it depends on the kid. As other posters have mentioned, there are instances of peril and violence, combat and death, mentions of sex (like, as in a thing people have occasionally, nothing explicit). It's not a very difficult book, maybe give it a try yourself and then decide if you're kid should read it? For what it's worth, I would have read this at eleven and been fine, but all kids handle material differently--it truly depends on the child.

If the child is well read and well versed in Star Wars, then yes, the book would be appropriate. There is nothing that happens in the book that they wouldn't have already been exposed to.
