The part where Judy is revealed was confusing to me. Was she one of the twins born to Queenie and Briny?

I kept rereading the ending to find the answer. Should have been clearer.

Thank you for the answer. I was so confused about that. I kept counting the Foss children who went to the home, and then thinking maybe Camellia was Judy. The fact that Judy was one of the twins was not clear to me at all. Very distracting.

The ending was rushed and poorly written.

My question is “How did Queenie give birth in Baltimore when they were down south when she went into labor”? That doesn’t make sense??

Avery's father asks at the meeting at Magnolia Manor regarding his mother Judy, "My mother has a twin?" Avery responds, "She was born a twin. She did search over the years, but was never able to find out what happened after that - whether her twin died or survived and was adopted."
Judy was obviously one of the twins.

I agree, not clear at all. Have just read this today and am very confused by this!
Doris
I never thought Judy was Camilia because she always made it very clear that C had dark hair and eyes unlike the blonde blue-eyed ones.
Lauri Leight
I don't understand why then she was referred to in the pictures they found and the one may had in the nursing home as being grandma Judy in the picture
Nagarjuna
She is. Perhaps this is one plot which i am not fully convinced about. The chemistry between the ladies towards the end might have made more sense if it was between Rill and Camellia/Fern.
Katie Arabis
That is what I gathered, yes. The twins didn't die at the hospital.
Lucille
What actually happened to Camellia

I was also very confused. I assumed Judy was Camilia the whole time, but the hair color was off? I felt like it could have been more clear.

Yes, it was told at the end of the story when the son and wife were there. She also said they never found her brother.
Christine
Yes she had a twin brother, dead or sold, adopted ? No one knows.
Mary Thompson
Who’s house was it that they would meet in when they reunited
Vanessa Leite
Yes! For me, it was pretty clear.
And just adding some notes here: somewhere in the final, Avery says Judy's age (68) and that's exactly 12 years from May (90 years-old), and 12 is the same age May was when everything went wrong and she got kidnapped (and when Judy was born).
Besides, before Judy was born, Rills always was referring as herself and her brothers (unless Camellie) that they had Queenie´s hair and eyes.
When May and Judy reunited, May said that Judy was the most similar to Queenie (Avery thought that Queenie was really similar to Judy too, even thought that was Judy in the photo) because of her line faces (and hair e eyes), something that she never said about herself and the others brothers.

This was answered close to the end of the book. I kept wondering also. I think it was unclear. Thankfully, it was cleared up at the end.

Ohh ok thank you for this!

Thank goodness for these Goodreads discussions! I was so confused until I read the answer here.
Nikki
Yeah shouldn't she have been Lark/renamed Judy but it would have been better if it was Camillia? Like May/Fern/Judy/Camillia/Gab? It's wild that the twins survived, and the parents didn't.
Paige
I am still not sure I understand. I just finished this book and I don't understand who Judy is? Who was the one at the beginning 1939 Baltimore that had a stillborn was the supposed still born Judy?
Nancy
Yes. The boy twin was the child listed in the birth certificate Trent Jr. found.
Lparker
