LTJ I've never read any of these novels and am super excited to see what wins! I voted for Carnivore since the cover spoke to me...

message 2: by Felina (new)

Felina I read a Christopher Buehlmen last summer and it was excellent and library actually has an audiobook version so that's were my vote went.

message 3: by LTJ (new)

LTJ @Felina: Very awesome! What would you give it from 1-5?

message 4: by Trista (new)

Trista I REALLY want Between Two Fires to win. That book looks so badass.

message 5: by LTJ (new)

LTJ @Trista: Have you read it? LoL it looks like it would make for an awesome Black Sabbath cover :-D

I haven’t, but it’s been on my TBR for a while though! I think I was the first person to suggest it in nominations.

LTJ @Trista: BOOM! That's awesome and well, let's see what wins! The description is indeed wild as this sounds like a great one...

Totally! You'll love it. I also interviewed him a ways back. He's a great guy.

Lindsay I'm seeing a bunch of good reviews for Between Two Fires, and I love historical fiction. But- one of the answered questions on its page is it might not be a good book if you're sensitive to animal abuse/mistreated animals. Can anyone chime in on the accuracy of that, or how graphic it is?

message 14: by evangelos (new)

evangelos went for rats, but between two fires looks intriguing too.

Ouch really, I'd have to skip those parts then, even tho this is a creature feature and the book I nominated is like opposite of what I believe but it's almost cartoonish, but realistic stuff I can't handle at all.

message 16: by Ruth (new)

Ruth Many sound good but I voted for Creature because the reviews describe it as a very good character study of a married couple and one particular relationship dynamic-changing challenge they face. And then the flow of the second half gives me Stolen Tongues-style spooky vibes… with an emotional climax that might be more like the finish many readers were hoping for from ST. Regardless, let’s see what the votes give us for our next read!

I think I gave it 4 or 5 stars. Those Across the River. It was not what I was expecting and had great atmosphere.
