"I really enjoyed this novel, which hovers on the edge between (Charles De Lint-style) fantasy and horror. I especially loved the cast of characters that become the heroine's new found family (people and animals alike) and the vividly described and wo"

What Stalks the Deep (Sworn Soldier, #3):
"I'm a huge horror wimp, but I love T. Kingfisher's Sworn Soldier novellas so much anyway that I snap them up immediately whenever a new one comes out. And this series is just getting better and better! This one involves horrors in a West Virginia coa"

“All right," said Susan. "I'm not stupid. You're saying humans need... fantasies to make life bearable."
REALLY? AS IF IT WAS SOME KIND OF PINK PILL? NO. HUMANS NEED FANTASY TO BE HUMAN. TO BE THE PLACE WHERE THE FALLING ANGEL MEETS THE RISING APE.
"Tooth fairies? Hogfathers? Little—"
YES. AS PRACTICE. YOU HAVE TO START OUT LEARNING TO BELIEVE THE LITTLE LIES.
"So we can believe the big ones?"
YES. JUSTICE. MERCY. DUTY. THAT SORT OF THING.
"They're not the same at all!"
YOU THINK SO? THEN TAKE THE UNIVERSE AND GRIND IT DOWN TO THE FINEST POWDER AND SIEVE IT THROUGH THE FINEST SIEVE AND THEN SHOW ME ONE ATOM OF JUSTICE, ONE MOLECULE OF MERCY. AND YET—Death waved a hand. AND YET YOU ACT AS IF THERE IS SOME IDEAL ORDER IN THE WORLD, AS IF THERE IS SOME...SOME RIGHTNESS IN THE UNIVERSE BY WHICH IT MAY BE JUDGED.
"Yes, but people have got to believe that, or what's the point—"
MY POINT EXACTLY.”
― Hogfather

“But in reading great literature I become a thousand men and yet remain myself. Like the night sky in the Greek poem, I see with a myriad eyes, but it is still I who see. Here, as in worship, in love, in moral action, and in knowing, I transcend myself; and am never more myself than when I do.”

As much as I love physical bookstores, it was so often a frustrating experience to look for a book in a store and not find it. Especially backlist novels by long-established authors. Online, almost anything is available.
So far, I have, but it looks like that there are certain books I can't get otherwise....oh, well. Have a great day.
As I mentioned, they're not likely to be in used-book stores (except maybe the Harlequin novel, EMBRACING DARKNESS), but there are plenty on Amazon.
Alas, quite a few of my books are presently in limbo because two publishers closed. If you like "good guy vampires," I hope you might like my "Vanishing Breed" vampire universe. Best one to start with is DARK CHANGELING:http://www.tinyurl.com/DarkChangeling
Here's the publisher that's rereleasing many of the books. The newest, CRIMSON DREAMS, is a vampire romance:

You won't find my books in actual bookstores, as they are all e-books; they were also released in print, but with the new publisher not having put them back into paperback yet, that's not an option now -- except that you might find used trade paperbacks online, but not in bookstores.
Amazon has lots of used copies of my one Harlequin vampire romance, EMBRACING DARKNESS.
I expect I will, as I love books about good guy/good gal shifters I guess I'll have to special order them. I don't recall seeing the in Barnes & Noble, which is the only non-used bookstore I've been able to get to lately. Have a great day.
