Furies of Calderon (Codex Alera, #1)
by
"The entire Codex Alera series is worth reading through a couple of times. IMHO it's a very fresh take on Fantasy. What happens when a Roman Legion is accidentally transported to a strange and fantastical alien world (along with a few other races)? Fast forward through 2000+ years of cultural adaptation and a little bit of evolution (environmental adaptation) and you're at the beginning of this series utterly amazing series."

The Man with the Golden Torc (Secret Histories, #1)
by
"First book in Green's 'Secret Histories' series. It mixes Sci-Fi and Fantasy elements, so it's hard to tell which list it really belongs to... Either way, it's a good read. Very entertaining."
