pookie Ah,I love pride and prejudice and it is so fun to read the sequels and spin-offs!

message 2: by Morgan (new)

Morgan Is it bad I can't get enough of P&P sequels and spin-offs? I'm way to addicted...

I hope not, because I am the same. Some are good, some are bad, but I am reading them all, and then going back and re-reading them, too. Sigh....

message 4: by Becky (new)

Becky gosh, there's a lot of them!

message 5: by Vivian (new)

Vivian My heart melts whenever I read Pride & Prejudice sequels! Found myself to be smiling & sighing all the way.....

message 6: by Anna (new)

Anna I would love to know which ones are the cleanest and the best for a teenager.

message 7: by Ashley (new)

Ashley The series by Pamela Aiden, and Amanda Grange's Mr. Darcy's Diary are both clean. I would guess many of the "traditional" sequels and spin-offs - those that try to stay true to Austen's style and the story - would be safe bets as well. The Bridget Jones books and Linda Berdoll's titles are the only ones that I know are definitely not clean!

message 8: by Andréa (new)

Andréa Some of these are adaptations/spin-offs of Austen's other novels and not of "Pride & Prejudice" itself.

message 9: by Ashley (new)

Ashley Andréa, I had a quick look through but didn't see any that jumped out at me - let me know which ones they are and I will take a look to see if they need to be deleted. Thanks!

Andréa Ashley wrote: "Andréa, I had a quick look through but didn't see any that jumped out at me - let me know which ones they are and I will take a look to see if they need to be deleted. Thanks!"

I'm not noticing them now, either. I might have been reading too quickly and mistaken the Mr. & Mrs. Darcy mystery "North by Northanger" for a Northanger Abbey adaptation. My apologies!

message 11: by Ashley (new)

Ashley No worries! I did catch a few random ones like The Kite Runner that I got rid of, so it was good to have a look through the list anyway :)

I did wonder about that one, but since I haven't read it, I just assumed that it was somehow inspired by P&P.

message 13: by Shelley (new)

Shelley Is there a sequel involving the other Darcy sisters like Mary?

message 14: by Thalia (new)

Thalia Shouldn't Prom Kings and Drama Queens be removed from this list? The main character's name is Emily Benett, but the book has absolutely nothing to do with P&P at all.

message 15: by Ashley (new)

Ashley Agreed, and removed :) Thanks!

message 16: by Candice (new)

Candice Morgan wrote: "Is it bad I can't get enough of P&P sequels and spin-offs? I'm way to addicted..."

I feel you I can't get enough!

message 17: by Karen (new)

Karen Blocher Shelley wrote: "Is there a sequel involving the other Darcy sisters like Mary?"

Kitty Bennet's Diary by Anna Elliott covers the love lives of Kitty and Mary.

message 18: by Jeane (new)

Jeane How is Bridget Jone's Diary a P&P adaption? There was never a war between two guys over Lizzy in P&P, there was a misunderstanding about Wickham (who never was really interested in her). There is no sister in Bridget Jones who meet a rich man of her dreams, and she doesn't have a sister who runs off with a pedophile at the end. As a matter of fact, from what I have read about Fielding is that she based Mark Darcy on Colin Firth's Mr. Darcy from the BBC mini-series, but that is all! ok ok, that over bearing mother who tries to marry her off to rich men, but that is all. There isn't even a best friend (Charlotte Lucas) who ends up marrying a guy like Mr.Collins.

I will be completely honest and haven't read it, although it sounds hilarious and I probably will someday, I just don't see how it has anything to do with P&P. Am I missing something? What else is similar to P&P?

message 19: by Suzan (new)

Suzan Lauder "Sorcery and Cecelia" and "Fifty Shades Freed" don't belong. I added at least a dozen books to this list, and know of at least a dozen more, but in most cases, either I haven't read them and don't want to vote for them, or they aren't yet registered on Goodreads even though they've been for sale for some time.

FYI
books by Enid wilson and Ayr Bray are steamy,
:)

ha ha , you are not alone, I personally have a good reads list over 900 , of P and P . related books, and making my way reading and owning them all:) Enjoy. they are lovely.

Ann Anna wrote: "I would love to know which ones are the cleanest and the best for a teenager."

I found you can type in in the search list clean books or best of for teens, i had no idea until i read your post, you could search by lists.

message 23: by Dee (new)

Dee Fergerson Pride & Prejudice Sequel: Life after the Wedding Series Parts 1-3 are very true to the original & clean content.

message 24: by Timothy (new)

Timothy Knutson Does anyone else also prefer the sequels to the actual book being re-imagined? I love the "after the wedding" stories, and I also enjoy the original book from other character's perspective, but I'm not a fan of the plot of Austen's story being changed. Am I the only one?

message 25: by Kara (new)

Kara Skye I hope so! I am now writing Pride and Predator. Austen fan and a fan of adaptations like Pride & Prejudice and Zombies for many years, I have set out on my own exploration of Longbourn House and the psyche of Elizabeth Bennet.

message 26: by Sara (new)

Sara Ackerman I read a P&P variation in which a modern woman goes to England, visits Jane Austen's home, touches her desk and is transported back to the past where she meets a man like Darcy (or Darcy) and realizes his over-protectiveness may not be what she really wants. Does anyone know the name of this book?

message 27: by Claire (new)

Claire Lol @ Educated being on this list. So many books that have nothing remotely to do with P&P. I added the newish YA book A Date with Darcy by Tiffany Schmidt. Enjoyable read for those who like both classic lit and YA!

message 28: by Ashley (new)

Ashley Mjspice wrote: "Added Ayesha At Last and A Guinea Pig Pride and Prejudice.

There's so many random books in the last two pages that don't belong on this list. Can they please be removed?"

I *think* I got them all (removing books is unfortunately not terribly user friendly). If you see any others that should be removed let me know which ones. Thanks!

message 29: by Reeds (new)

Reeds Becky wrote: "gosh, there's a lot of them!"

Indeed!

message 30: by Julia (new)

Julia Is a prequel allowed on this list? I want to add A Proper Introduction to Dragons which is about Elizabeth Bennett at age 11, but wasn't sure if it fit the criteria.

Andréa Julia wrote: "Is a prequel allowed on this list? I want to add A Proper Introduction to Dragons which is about Elizabeth Bennett at age 11, but wasn't sure if it fit the criteria."

I would think that would count.
