LmScar12 The Roads of Heaven (#1-3) book series does not belong on this list, and must be removed, since it does not meet the qualifications of the list. The list description is specific: "Fiction in which the main character is in love with, and marries or has romantic, long term, relationships with multiple women [not men] at the same time, with the other women's knowledge and consent."

People adding to lists must keep in mind the purpose of a list: to allow readers to find good books of their preferred genre. This list was obviously created primarily for male readers (particularly young males) who like to read stories where the hero has multiple women (wives, GFs, what have you), and prefer to read fairly well-written books of that genre. A feminist reversal of the harem/polygamy genre like The Roads of Heaven is far from belonging on this list. It should instead be on a list like Good Ménage Fiction (though I have no idea if such a list exists).

It's been removed.

Inigo Sharpe Could we maybe get the Highschool DXD volumes out of there? I know they technically fit, but.....

In any case good or even just mediocre harem manga is abundant enough for someone to just trip over it. This seemed to be more of a harem "novel" list.

There's no limit on how many books can be on a list, just on how many one person can vote for, so them being on the list doesn't hurt anything I feel.

Vikarti Is it ok if Main Character is female? (and harem is female too), like books by Benjamin Medrano

Is it ok that other women doesn't protest, because they are not allowed to do so due to their status as slaves (and it's not even dubious consent in most cases ) but Main Character treats them as human beings and not toys? like books by Stuart Grosse

Is it ok to have non-English (and not translated) language books here? like books from Александр Иванович Седых ?

Is it ok if polygamy theme is not very important to book? (example: later Honor Harrington novels by David Weber, it's 'space combat' SciFi but Honor's situation as 2nd wife to (view spoiler) is cause for some political problems on Manticore)

Is it ok to put fanfiction here? Simple example (HP fandom): Harry Potter and Sisters Black has several harems (usually 'official' wife + slaves under mind control spell, slaves sometimes asked to become ones but sometimes mind control spell was forced on them) and in The Harem War it's one of main themes, even while most of participants didn't have a lot of choice, even choice who they will belong to).

Shu Viole **Winterfall (Demon Accords, #12)** , does not have harem or polygamy. There is no reason why this book should be here. I think someone made a mistake.

Librarian can delete book but they are warned 'Note: Only delete books from the list that are totally miscategorized. Deleting books that aren't will result in a loss of librarian privileges, and possible deletion of account. We're super serious!'
If some librarian read Winterfall and agrees, they can do it.

Fanfiction, no.
Only authorized novels, or graphic novels are allowed.

The membership of the 'harem' or group marriage must be consensual, so slave harems I'd go with no.

English language (or translated) only.

Doesn't have to be a core element of the plot, as long as the main character is a part of one, willingly. Like Wheel of Time. However, Honor Harrington I don't think works as she's not the core of the group relationship.

Lesbian harems... sure. They can be included. Just not reverse harems.

message 9: by Dave (last edited Dec 02, 2018 07:34AM) (new)

Dave Stone Two questions on Harem lit:
We start out with the Main Character as a lonely swine herder or lonely busboy to maximize the contrast when he is revealed to be the true hero later. That's all fine and traditional, but do you have to make him so stupid and or pathetic also? Would I have failed to believe the transformation into hero if he hadn't wet his pants in chapter 1?
Question 2, Is it a requirement to misuse the word Decimate once per book? I see in the comments above folks arguing about what is and isn't Harem lit. So do you get kicked off this list if you use Decimate correctly? (pro tip: it means to kill 1 in 10, or 10%. especially to coldly murder every tenth citizen of a conquered city or Provence in clear view of the others to discourage further resistance or rebellion)
I believe the word you meant to use was Obliterate (destroy utterly; wipe out.)
Other than that, carry on. I'm loving this Genre. What a happy discovery.

message 10: by Myria (new)

Myria Zhan I would think slave harems are fine, they're still one guy many girls. I would gladly read some if I could find it. Lesbian harems on the other hand, that doesn't really make too much sense. While yes, it's many girls, the MC isn't a guy so unless we have some weird futanari magic or guy-in-girl's-body, it's not a case where we the readers (assuming male) can connect to the MC.
