on second reread- bumping this up to five stars. I feel like I missed so much of the deeper discussion when I read this previously. I also forgot how seriously addicting it is. Could not put it down.

Really enjoyable, fast-paced read. I flew right through these 400 pages and that seems to happen less and less often for me lately, so much appreciated.
I had some trouble getting started with this book. I have read a ton of YA dystopias this year and Red Rising didn't seem very interesting compared with some of the others. Maybe because the story doesn't really take off until the second half of the book, or maybe because it was a male protagonist and I'm used to female protagonists. I don't know.
