What Members Thought

I was conflicted on how to review this book. The first 50% of the book is constant action, not much dialogue except as it relates to the action. How many grave injuries does Harry get over this series? I understand that fighting is dangerous and Butcher makes it realistic, but the constant aches and pains and injuries, well sometimes it is tiring! I was frustrated with Harry for once again just expecting Thomas to join in on the fight and for bringing the danger to the Carpenters. Michael does m

Listen, we are on the tenth book here, you either liked the first ones and decided to keep on reading them, and you don't need this review, or you didn't like them and you will never read this review, so I'm going to keep it short:
This book is classic Dresden Files, all the usual suspects are back, sans werewolves, which sucks, but then it would be a x-men movie for the over abundance of characters, but the ones that show up are, as usual, as great and as complicated as always.

This series continues to be strong for me. Everything I love about these books is present in this one. Sarcastic dialogue, multiple bad guys (some with honor, some without), fae politics, wizard politics, an excellent rescue and real trauma for some of the main characters. James Marsters continues to do an excellent job with the narration taking the listener on a journey that makes you feel the excitement, fear, anger, humor and hope of all the characters.

I stopped reviewing these books because my comments get repetitive. But I will say that this is one of my favorite books of the series.
Thinking about it, A LOT happens in this book. Which makes sense considering that practically everyone we've come across throughout the series comes into play in this book. We've got appearances from Summer and Winter court, the Denarians, Marcone and co., Murphy, Michael and family, Thomas, Kincaid and the Archive, Luccio, even Toot-Toot. The werewolves were pr ...more

Wow, what a ride. Standard plot of Harry gets into trouble way over his head and manages to just barely survive. Not much I can say without giving away the plot, but it starts when Mab collects her second favor from Harry.
