This is a PNR so I knew what I was getting into but I like my books with romance on the side, not the main course. Despite not being a romance reader, this Psy-Changeling world is so fascinatingly complex that I will continue to slog through the matings to learn more about it. (It's not really slogging, just more romance than I prefer).

OK, probably more like 3.75 stars. This book sucked me into the action better than the first book in the series, but that's just me. I have to warm up to world-building and this one is fairly intricate from the beginning and still developing. The only reason I didn't give 4 stars is because many of the descriptions were repetitive and redundant. I don't know why the author didn't feel like she had explained things adequately, but this book could have been much shorter! Where's your ruthless edit ...more

The story of a cranky career bachelor sentinel meets virgin red headed foreseer...this has a weak plot of finding Marine's killer -Faith's sister. Whom she saw die in a vision... They bond and mate for life...they bring the killer to justice mate some more and it ends weirdly. They tasted, smelled musky, looked creamy, and stroked a lot! I need a lot more plot to my romance stories. Virgins do not immediately ride erections...they just don't! I read over half the book to wait for an unb ...more

This is the second installment in the "Psy-Changeling" series, the first in the series, "Slave to Sensation", was about a female psy overcoming her lifelong silence conditioning and learning how to feel again; which was helped and encouraged by her attraction to a changeling leopard. The second book in the series is similar to the first, in regards to the main female characters. More good worldbuilding from Nalini Singh. The differences between the Psy and the changelings make for interesting stories and great characters. A lot of side characters with potential for their own stories were mentioned in this book. This book seemed a litlle more romantic than steamy as compared to the first book.

This was great. I'm really enjoying the world she's created. It's quite different than anything I've come across before. She does tend to change the POV sometimes without warning, but its not too bad. Starting the next book now. Cover art is still cheesy. Honestly, I would have never picked up this series without the reviews from GR, I would have written it off just from the cover(s). ...more
