Wow! I had so much fun reading this book. I wanted to share every funny line with all of my Goodreads friends. I couldn’t stop updating my status with all the good lines (and there were many). So much happens in this book. I just didn’t want it to end.

The book begins with Kate, fulfilling her side of a bargain, cooking her naked dinner for Curran. When Curran doesn’t show for dinner, Kate is devastated. You expect Kate to fly off the handle, go crazy, run to the Keep and confront Curran, but this is a new, mellower version of Kate. Go figure. And let the games begin...

Anyhow, this new version of Kate is all over this book. Yes, she still shoots off her mouth, and yes she still is impulsive. Kate now has moments of diplomacy and negotiation. Kate actually seems to think out the repercussions of her actions, which is a major development for Kate. Kate’s internal dialogue is very entertaining. You get a feel for her every thought and motive.

The sexual tension between Kate and Curran is absolutely delicious. Probably the funniest and most interesting scenes revolve around cat mating rituals. Kate completed her research well and managed to come up with hilarious results involving welded doors and catnip. At first, Curran was too dense to figure out what Kate was doing. He later retaliates with some well placed glue.

Kate gets a sidekick in this book – Grendel, the shaved poodle. Grendel is an unlikely sidekick. His claim to fame is that he can vomit and urinate at the same time, although he does surprise Kate later on in the book.

The antagonist in this book is very ancient and surprisingly familiar to Kate. Steel Mary made a formidable enemy. It did seem to me that Kate was constantly battling this creature. Kate takes a lot of hits and you wonder how she could possibly survive.

I enjoyed how Ilona Andrews ties in ancient history with all kinds of lore and mysticism from other cultures. The Jewish temple guarded by a golem and the Jewish magic squares are a few examples.

There is so much more I could say, but then this review would be as long as the book. If you haven’t read the series – What are you waiting for? I know I am waiting for Magic Slays. Can’t wait!

WOW WOW WOW WOW!!!!!!!!! Can that be my whole review of this book??? This book was amazing! I didn't want it to end! It is the best I've read so far in the series. It just had it all!

At first I'll admit I was PISSED at Curran because I thought he stood up Kate for that naked dinner she owed him. Then she's called in to investigate the deaths of shifters. But things only get more complicated from there when this investigation brings Kate face to face with her own family.

The best in the series so far. Andrews writes amazing urban fantasy. I have to put this book/series up their with my favorite authors such as Tolkien, JK Rowling and Moning. I highly recommend this series.

So I really liked this one but this one did not top Magic Strikes, but it was close. Magic Strikes and Magic Bleeds= Best in the Series. In magic bleeds, so much is happening we finally get some more info about Kate's past and some family info also, Erra, is Kate's aunt and also Roland's older sister and I just loved the chapter where she comes to visit Kate at home and we have this conversation wit them and get to learn quite a few things, I really despise her aunt though, I wonder if we'll fin So I really liked this one but this one did not top Magic Strikes, but it was close. And next order of business, I loved Curran and Kate in this book, they are funny as ever. First we have the whole misunderstanding wit that whole dinner, and than the mating dance which was funny as hell, OMFG. I think I'm still laughing...okay...I'll give you a hint. it has something to do with curran + chair + kate = read and find out!!! (but it was so funny) Yup. I'm still laughing. I loved that. One of the best scenes in the book, so funny them messing wit each other. I loved the scene where Kate and Curran finally deal with this about the dinner and sort out all the misunderstandings and have such a wonderful moment together, I wanted MORE!!!! And also where Kate finally talks to Curran about who she really is. Them talking about their past's is something deep for being in a relationship. I loved that whole entire chapter and the next one. I just loved how the both talked to each other about their past's about what happened to Curran and why he wants her in the keep with him(feel so bad for him, he really needs and derserves happiness with Kate) and Kate explaining all of her fears to him and why she would be a horrible mate for him....god, I could just read that chapter over and over again.

I loved how kate was there for Curran like how Curran was there for kate in magic strikes. I thought...awwwwww....and I was so mad when I got to the last page b/c I want to read the next book Magic Slays which isn't even out yet! ugh....hurry the hell up, march! I did feel like we didn't get much of the other characters in the pack I like so much and also Julie, I wish we had more of Derek also, but I think this book was just mainly about Curran/Kate sorting out everything about their relationship and her confrontation with her family, but I do hope we get some more Julie and Derek in the next book. I really did enjoy this book. I have so many favorite scenes. A great read. ...more

This is most definitely one series that keeps getting better. My favorite book so far. The banter between Kate and Curran is so awesome. They play off each other so well. I think how compromise is so important in their relationship (it's very obvious in this one compared to other romances I've read). They have to decide if they really want a relationship and they have to fight for it. Oh so satisfying!
This is that pivitol book in a series. The one that you really should read all the others before it (3) to appreciate. It was unpredictable, unrelentinly funny, adrenaline enducing and romantic. This book suffers from a shitty cover, but beyond that the story is good and the characters well developed.
A great addition to the series that finally gets some serious momentum.
I specially like Kate's development, how she changes the way she sees things, and how difficult it is for her to cope with it, it's a cohesive character and a brave one. ...more

Great great book, it kept me on edge and asking for more.
Curran took his time showing up, wich just made it so much better. I think this was Kate's best book, it was funny, sweet, romantic, sexy... and Curran, oh my!... Curran...
