What Members Thought

Really well done, intricately plotted, impossible to put down. This one isn't so much scary as thoughtful. I loved the way King characterizes teachers - he shows so much respect!

This enormous book had my rapt attention for nearly a month. It reads pretty fast, so don't be overwhelmed by the size. Stephen King is a genius, but we all know that. There are a few chapters in the middle that drag a bit, but overall it was just so good!
What happens when someone discovers a way to travel back in time to the late fifties, and early sixties? Plenty. What happens when that person decides to change the past? Good things and bad things. The bad just might out way the good, though. ...more

For the most part I really enjoyed the book, but I felt that the end of book, basically the last 50 pages, kinda fell flat. I understand why King had to do what he had to do at the end, but it kinda seemed like a bit of a cop out, especially since he had spent so much of the book building towards the day of the shooting.

I would have edited the 849 pages down to about 700, but I was glad to have a long book to get lost in. The time travel aspect was fascinating, and more than a week later I still find myself still thinking back on the book. My first Stephen King book, and I'm impressed ...more

This book made ME want to go down the rabbit-hole... but I wouldn't stay long or cause any butterfly effects, especially since women in the 1950's got no respect. I'd like to see the past in person though.
