89768 For those who have read Retribution,(view spoiler)Any speculation? As the author, I'm curious to see what people thought of that.

Michel does what he does always because he thinks it is the right thing to do but we're faced with the old 'ends justify the means' problem. How far would an individual be willing to go to save someone's life, or to prevent a war, or to stop one?

I will - I am so BRUTAL to him in Book 4 and 5. You may hate him at times. I know Eve will. He will hate himself. And that is all I will say. ;)

In the true sense, no. They're not equals. However, mutual respectful of the other, yes. Should M & J..."

Both Julien and Michel know what is coming -- a war between humans and vampires over who will have power over the other. They know what Blackstone wants. Dominion. The brothers know that Eve is key to possibly allowing or preventing that from occurring. They are faced with a time constraint as well -- they know it is coming and soon, and feel they are limited in being able to prepare properly.

As a result, they end up doing things and treating people in ways that they wouldn't normally. When you're in a life or death battle, how much is forgivable? How much is justified?

Ahh, you love the beautiful tortured soul? ;) He has some very trying times coming up in Book 4 and 5.

Poor Michel... I am such a mean sadist of a writer.

No one person is perfect -- they lack something or other that their partner may want or need. What does Julien lack that Eve needs or wants? What does Michel lack that she needs or wants?

89768 I watch TVD and SPN. Usually watch TB but for some reason, I stopped this season. I don't know why... Lost interest in Eric, who was the reason I watched. Dexter. Game of Thrones RULES! Can't wait for S3. Everything superhero for me, and all things SciFi and Fantasy. Crime stories.

Crap! Can you guys quit with all the great sounding books already? My TBR pile is seriously growing and I have books to write. ;) Gonna put this series on my list. Four Horsemen? Sounds right up my alley!

Sex in the clouds scene? Oh, oh... Guess this is going on my TBR pile!

Julien is clearly far more straight-forward and upfront with Eve. Michel thinks he has his reasons for his behaviour. Perhaps Books 4 and 5 will clarify what's behind this... ;)

Whilst I don't think we're natural M&B readers here there are some similarities with the genre and preferred styles and that does impose restrictions on how you get necessary information to have the story make sense to the reader but not interrupt their reading and pull them out of the experience."

I think we're OK here about spoilers as there is a warning on the topic title.

I tend to like a fast read, so my writing is probably a bit too short on the description and long on dialogue and action. I aim to alter that and try to keep the pace up but maybe linger a bit more in certain scenes in Books 4 and 5.

89768 I intend to listen to each one of these and add them to my iTunes playlists so I can listen when I'm writing. So thanks for posting!

89768 We have had the strangest weather -- flipping rapidly between -40C to 2C, freezing rain, three feet of snow, blistering cold. We've had more snow in one month than all last year. But we're troopers here. We just complain a lot and pride ourselves on how tough we are. I tend to think we're crazy... If I can escape, I will as soon as possible.

As to Eve, she has some epiphanies (view spoiler).

89768 Wendy wrote: "Having resisted it when everyone else was reading it I wondered if the Dominion books hadn't filled that gap for me and if I would be disappointed. Sounds like it's all 3 or none then! "

They are very different books from the Dominion series, although there is lite BDSM in both and some dark psychological themes. If you enjoy love stories, fantasizing about living a wealthy life, a bit of kink, a deflowering, some interesting psychology (for Christian Grey) and a bit of intrigue, it's a fun fast read. I read it over the course of three or four days, one book downloaded as soon as I finished the previous one. It's not Anna Karenina but every now and then you need to eat chocolate, not broccoli.

89768 It's hard not to like bad guys. They have balls, and we tend to admire people will balls. Even if we dislike what they do, their sheer audacity makes us admire them.

A question for those who have read all three books -- does he come off as just plain bad or are there examples where he seems to show more to himself?

89768 I thought it was fun and a whole lot of fantasy wish fulfilment, preferred Christian's character to Ana (have a serious weakness for Doms) and was really pleased that it made the big time and introduced women to kink who maybe never knew about it - and yes I know it was kink lite but still libidos and fantasies everywhere were revved up because of EL and Christian Grey!

89768 What do you think Eve should do about the Twins?

89768 Talk about anyone else - Vasily, Ed, Terri, Vasquez, Dylan, Sarah, the poor neglected cats, Papa Hayden, Marguerite, Danielle, the poor neglected cats...
