So, titillate it did and, apparently, it did a very fine job of it, as well. So, kudos to the author ;) "
I just read a thread on an agent's blog from May 2012 about FSOG and man, the anger and vitriol towards EL for the book. So much hate. I just don't get it. People loved or at least enjoyed the books, the love story, the characters, and the kink was just mild enough to get libidios going. I say, lighten up people! It's fiction! Some of the commenters acted as if publishing FSOG was the start of the end of the world or something...

I have heard that as well. I played around online with fetish crowd for a while and studied it a bit in Uni, but fiction serves its own purposes. It's an art and craft, not a science and for the vast majority of readers it was a peek into kink that was just enough to be titillating. Some of the kinks of people I met online involved in the lifestyle would scare the living bejeesus out of most romance readers... LOL!

I'm glad you "took to" my books rabidly! I guess I just want to talk about my book as if I know what I'm talking about. I read so many genres so my books cross them.

I love the ocean -- in case you couldn't tell by my books, LOL. I would move to Northern California near the Redwood National Park somewhere on the coast so I could smell the salt air and hear the surf. Anywhere on any coastline would be fab but I love the Redwoods. Second specific place would be the Pembrokeshire coast of Eve's childhood near St. David's in Wales. My kin come from thereabouts.

It's no wonder we get along so well. Love me..."
Sponge toffee hunks covered in milk chocolate...

You'll find more about it in R and then later in the future books but part of the reason is that he was hoping to see if he could control her himself first. He is rather attracted to her. ;)

Hi Brandy. ;) Remember - the first rule about the Dominion Series Goodreads group is that you *must* talk about the Dominion Series -- any anything else you feel like!

For me, it's only ever been Ian, primarily because of his intensity and blue eyes and good looks. He's not perfect in terms of the description in FSOG but for me, it's not the copper highlights or height or age but the sense of power simmering under his skin, the eroticism, the intensity of his gaze, that characterizes CG. He has to be devastatingly handsome, but also intense and look like he wants to eat you, which of course, Damon is and does. ;)
I understand that MotU was written for Edward Cullen, and so many still see Robert Pattinson in that role, but I never saw him in the character when I was reading FSOG. I had just discovered TVD and was smitten with Damon / Ian so that's all I saw.

No but my ex is Hungarian and I became very interested in the history and culture and did some research, looked at pics and read descriptions. I love old cities and always wanted to visit Budapest so I did a lot of research on that city and its geography and history and even set a vampire being turned during the wars between Hungary and the Ottoman Empire in 16th century in one incarnation of a vampire novel I was writing.
Being a military brat, we moved so much (13 times by age 18) I never felt as if I had anywhere to call home. I always was drawn to old places, old houses (hence I bought a 100 YO house) and old cities and old buildings. I used to only have antiques, because it always gave me a good feeling to know that people had touched the things before, cutlery, tea cups, tables and chairs, tablecloths. I would shop only in antique or thrift stores looking for old things. Just a quirk.

LOL we should talk about it on the Ascension thread! I will move it there. Guess we have to make it easier to find threads...

Thanks Brandy - people can really make a difference when it comes to books being a success or not. Word of mouth is the only way that a book becomes a hit -- there is no doubt about it.
Publishing houses can spend money on promotion to get the book out there in the first place, but unless readers talk up books, they will not have "legs" and stick around for the long haul. Readers talked about FSOG to each other. I turned on a number of people in my own life to them. Even my mother had to read them after my sis and I spoke about them all the time! We each have our own favs as to who should play CG -- I'm an Ian Somerhalder stalwart and she likes Henry Cavill for it. We agree to disagree. ;)

LOL I read FSOG on my iPhone at work on my breaks and lunch hour. I was flushing quite a bit at times! I did kinda glance around at my office and at colleagues as they walked by my door... Sometimes, I'd be snickering to myself about how much I was enjoying it and thinking -- if they only knew what I was reading. And then everybody was reading it at work and we talked about it in the hallways and before meetings so it was no biggie. There were reading groups at work LOL! My niece was told she should read the series when she started a new job working as a police 9-1-1 dispatcher. It was a group bonding thing... ;) EL James you are a f*&^ing genius!

I am so dying to write the prequel. I am dying to write the fall, the first years with Marguerite, her death, Danielle, and then their time with Soren. I could see writing a trilogy set in the first few years after they were made. In fact, I have that on my writing plan for 2014. Marguerite and Danielle would be major characters but the novel would be told from the points of view of the twins.

I have a headache tonight and just can't go there when it comes to alcohol, but on a good day, I'd have me a glass of sippin whisky. Or a vodka cooler. Or a rusty nail. I'm all over the place when it comes to booze. Depends on my state of mind. But when I get that telephone call and if it sounds good, I will buy a bottle of champagne the next day and crack it open!
